We had a wonderful month in White Sand. One hitch was the reclaimation of the beach. We were kept off the walkway and beach front directly in front of the house for at least a week. Too bad when you are paying for oceanfront! Work went on 24/7 bright lights on all night and bulldozers moving sand.
The house upgrades were great! Love the new carpet and furniture. I think the kitchen could use more utensils, we bought some forks to accomidate our visiting children. Next year 5 weeks!!Response from Emerald Isle Realty, Inc - 04/19/2013

During the month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15) I was at White Sand, family and friends visited from time to time, and we all loved the layout, location and amenities as well as the spectacular ocean views. On arrival, I was delighted to find the owners had put in new beds, refrigerator, stove, washer and dryer, shower curtains - and wi-fi was installed while I was there. (Thank you so much for all the improvements!) The living/dining/kitchen area is spacious, so when we were all together we never felt crowded, and yet with four bedrooms and baths, everyone had privacy. The large deck is accessible from the two master bedrooms and the living area. Two sliding door/screen problems were solved promptly with one phone call to the Maintenance Department and a visit from andy and his son T.J. There is covered parking under the house for several cars, the storage room had ample beach furniture and equipment, and the hot/cold outdoor shower was popular with the young adults and the grandkids. The walkway offered easy beach access, and since the beach is not very wide at that part of the island, the water was close - a big plus for us older folks! We found some good restaurants (and plenty of stores) both on and off the island. When I was alone, I spent a few afternoons exploring Swansboro, Beaufort, and New Bern, but when I had company, my guests just wanted to enjoy the beach! Another plus worth mentioning - my family is scattered across the country, so they flew Delta or Usair into New Bern; the airport is an easy hour's drive and has convenient parking for arrivals and departures. The office staff and maintenance department of Emerald Isle Realty was friendly, helpful, and responsive to questions and requests. We had such a wonderful vacation that we hope to rent White Sand next year!

Loved Emerald Isle Realty. The house is in a great location, but it needs a lot of work. The screen door kept falling off. One set of sliding doors to the deck were too hard to open, Thank goodness ther was a second set of doors. Carpet in the main living area needs to be replaced. The blinds throughout the house are broken and need to be replaced. This was extremely awkward for my daughters in the bedrooms facing the road. The house is spacious and the view is stunning but we would not stay in this home again unless repairs are made.

Please come back again and enjoy the many updates and additions this home has had. New appliances have been added, the living room has all new furnishings, all mattresses and box springs have been replaced as well as bed coverings, there is a new flat screen TV in the living room, new vinyl flooring in the bathrooms, new carpet throughout, the fireplace is again working, and the kitchen cabinets will be painted and have new hardware.

Putting aside some minor housekeeping issues with this lovely home (that others have reported as well--refrigerator, stove, and sliding glass doors). We had one of the best vacations ever. The location is perfect! The views amazing. And, inside the home was very comfortable for my group of 6 adults and 4 teenagers. We enjoyed the beach by day, enjoyed sunsets on the deck in the evening and managed a couple of sightseeing trips in nearby Beaufort. I can't wait to visit Emerald Isle again and my first choice will be to rent this home!

We loved the layout of the house, the views, and the location. Yes, the house could use some updating but we all slept fine and I didn't come to the beach to watch TV or access Wifi all day (though that was not a problem with friendly neighbors). It was nice to have the addition of the gas barbeque. We would stay at this house again.

This is a nice little house, excellent location, great for two families. That being said, it needs serious updating...all the appliances, mattresses, televisions, wifi, are in need of replacement.

We are a family of four and shared the home with another family of four and found the home to be very comfortable and spacious. The kitchen was well equipped, furniture comfortable, beach beautiful, and surrounding area charming. The home is in need of some TLC: a good cleaning, tree trimming/yard cleanup, and a new master bedroom mattress (yikes).

While we enjoyed the proximity to the beach and the convenient access
to the beach, there were several aspects of the beach house we found
inadequate. They are listed below.
Foremost, the cleanliness of the house and bathrooms was very much lacking.
1. Bathroom shower curtains were mildewed.
2. Bathroom sink in left of house was clogged with long hair-we all
have short hair.
3. A lamp and side table were broken upon entrance.
4. Several door blinds were missing and others fell off during the week.
5. The kitchen light is burned out.
6. There was a large garbage bag left from previous guests, too heavy
for us to lift.
7. The furniture and beds are worn out and uncomfortable.
8. The air conditioner did not work well at times.
9. The right sliding door was continuously difficult to open and close.
10. Screen on right slider pushed out.
For the cost of the weekly rental we found the amenities very lacking.
For the same cost we have stayed in much much nicer places.

We had a wonderful time, weather could not have been better. White Sand had more than enough room for our children and grandchildren to visit. I would only suggest that the addition of Wi Fi would be a huge improvement, and if the fireplace could be converted to gas, that would be even better.
With a month stay we found that the refrigerator leaked water into the bottom and then onto the floor if we didn't mop it up once a week.

We loved the way this house was set up, everyone had their own bathroom. Could use a little update (refrigerator is rusty) but we loved the house. Our daughter got married at this house, we will always have wonderful memories of our stay here!!!

We liked the layout of the home. Each bedroom having its own bathroom was great. The views of the Ocean were beautiful. This home can use some updating. Some fire hazard issues due to the dryer vent being clogged and there was no battery in the smoke detector. There was no barbecue for grilling which was a big disappointment. And another big disappointment was no internet. The kitchen utensils and cookware need to be replaced and so should the fridge. We enjoyed our stay and would come again. I do hope they make some improvements.

Enjoyed my stay at White Sand very much. Very clean and spacious. Great view of the ocean! Needs new deck furniture. Rocking chairs were very unstable - afraid to sit in them. They was also a metal support bracket for deck that was pulling away from wood post. I was very disappointed in the beach area...deep tracks from vehicles driving on upper part of beach...on lower part of beach sloped so it was hard walking. Beach area might be better in summer when no vehicles are allowed. I would have liked an earlier check-in and later check-out time. Overall, I would still recommend.

Even with all the rain we enjoyed the stay. The house had a great layout but needs serious roof work done. The roof had areas where bare wood was showing and this was evident with the leaks during the storm. I would hate to see this beautiful residence ruined.

Check In process was very easy and quick. White Sand has a Beautiful View of the ocean/beach. We loved the layout of the house, it was a perfect setup. Eating utensils, and drinking glasses were not the best. However we do understand that it is probably due to the water. We ended up purchasing disposable utensils and paper cups (for drinking).

Pros: Location is great and the house layout is perfect for our family. Open, lots of natural light, spacious living room.
Cons: Shabby - the walls show lots of damage - rips in the wall board, water stains - a fresh coat of paint would go a long way to brightening it up. King size bed really needs a new mattress. You need to inspect the cooling system - some rooms froze while others were sweltering. The carpet can use a good cleaning - it seemed "sticky" when in bare feet. Porch furniture is falling apart and some seemed dangerous to use. Also railings on the upper front (roadside) deck were broken and we felt this was a serious safety liability especially if children inhabit the house.

This was my first visit to Emerald Isle and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was so nice to find a place where the sun was shining and the temperature was warm. White Sands was in a perfect location on the island; near the necessary conveniences but away from the choas. The house was very comfortable and easy to stay in. The kitchen was well stocked. I loved the quiet location on the beach. The view from the breakfast table was fabulous and listening to the ocean at night was a great way to fall asleep.
The deck furniture and screen doors to the deck were in need of repair. There was also a lot of mold in one of the bathrooms. The mattress on the king bed needs replacing. -

Love the new express check-in, but there is no excuse for cleaners leaving past 6:00!
White Sand is a lovely beach house with incredible views from walls of windows. However, it sadly needs a good coat of paint, new furniture for the Great Room and deck, at the very least, and a rack for the dishwasher. When you pay that much money, the deck furniture should be usuable--not have stuffing coming out of the cushions! -

This house is in a great location and has a nice layout for either one or two
families. But it is in need of serious TLC: the blinds are falling apart, the
screen doors have fallen off of the house, the prongs in the dishwasher are so
rotted that it's difficult to load plates, and the furniture and mattresses need
updating. On top of that, it is in desperate need of professional cleaning: the
shower curtains are moldy, the plates and silverware have dried food on them,
and the pantry was stuffed with dirty throw rugs, so I can't imagine anyone
storing food in there.
We have stayed at White Sand many times in the past but this is our last time
until we hear of it being updated. Unfortunately, the shabby, rundown feel of

My daughter-in-law and I spent many late nights searching for the "perfect" vacation home and our efforts certainly paid off.
We were in awe of the ocean view from anywhere in the house-it was almost indescribable.
The house, accomodations and beach were more than we hoped for;other than some normal wear and tear on the house, it was PERFECT!!
The staff @Emerald Isle Realty could not have been nicer;they even had treats for us when we arrived after our long trip from Western PA!
We were very, very pleased with the whole experience. We will absolutely recommend this house to all our friends and family and we hope to return someday.

We stayed at this house with two families, including four kids ages three and under. We LOVED the layout of the house...two bedrooms on each side, separated by the common living area and kitchen in the middle. That worked great for us because each family had it's own side of the house for sleeping/napping. The exterior is FANTASTIC. Great big deck and awesome proximity to the beach.
Our biggest complaint is that the interior needs to be updated. The king sized bed had an unsatisfactory mattress, the TV did not get good reception (very grainy), and the whole inside could use a coat of paint. That being said, we spent most of our time outside anyway, so the only thing that REALLY bothered us was the poor quality of the king mattress.

This home is a beautiful home with a beautiful view. I loved the layout and the furnishings. My only complaint is that it was not real clean. There was a rather nasty smell coming from the bathroom adjoining our bedroom. I'm not certain, but I think it came from the throw rugs which were put in a back room during our stay. I re-cleaned the bath room which helped. The house itself was fantastic.
