We had a wonderful experience at absaroka Cabins. We had everything we needed and we loved being surrounded by the beautiful Montana scenery. The cabins were clean and comforable. We watched deer right outside our cabin and saw elk when we were driving out. The only negative was the hot weather and lack of air conditioning. I know it was unusually hot when we were there the first week of July and it was only really uncomfortable in the afternoons. Over all it was a wonderful experience and we would definitely stay there again. We drove out to Yellowstone every day and it was so nice to have our Mountain home to come back to. Thanks for making our vacation a success!

Idledale, COWonderful stay at absaroka Cabin
Left on 06/20/2012 for a stay in June 2012
My friends and I rented the main cabin for 3 nights. It couldn't have been more perfect. The cabin was very clean, cozy decor, comfortable accommodations, and well-equipped. The setting was absolutely gorgeous and convenient to Yellowstone, hiking (right behind the cabin), Livingston, and Chico. We appreciated the great CD collection and little stereo, firewood and wood-stove, and nice kitchen. The beds were very comfortable too. We really have no complaints about this place, would recommend it to anyone, and will definitely be back! Thanks!

JapanWe miss the cabin!
Left on 06/14/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We got lost at the nearest intersection to the cabin. We could find nobody to ask the way. Our Japanese cell phone didn't work. We really needed the map. The people of the big log house on the way hepled us.
We were surprised to see the location of the cabin. It was in the middle of the ranch. The cabin was so isolated that we were worried about our security. The scenery was breathtaking. The cabin was cozy and we could enjoy our short stay. We are not used to the windows without curtain or blind. We wanted the curtain for the front door window and the window close to the door.
Our stay at your cabin was the highlight of our travel to the us. Thank you very much.

Thank you for a great place to spend part of our vacation! The cabin was a great home base for horseback riding and Yellowstone, but most importantly it allowed our family actually relax together on vaction. We loved the cooler of legos!!! we read, played games, took aftenoon walks and baked cookies- things my kids like to do on vacation. We are already trying to figure out when we can come back!

Left on 07/01/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The cabin was great especially with the setting the the mountains in the background. Directions could have been better coming from Gardiner instead of taking us all the way to Emigrant and then back tracking. There was a much easier and quicker route from Gardiner. The kitchen could have used some large mixing bowls for salads, etc. Also, the top part of the kitchen window needed a blind because between 6:30 and 7:30, the sun was in the right position to create a problem for those watching TV. Other than that, our stay was great and Yellowstone was absolutely awesome.

Watertown, TNThis is our favorite cabin!
Left on 06/29/2011 for a stay in June 2011
After visiting last year we decided that we had to come back for a longer stay. The cabin is cozy, rustic, and comfortable but what draws us back is the location. Nothing compares to looking out and seeing only rolling green hills and snow capped mountains. Our children love exploring the property, playing in the creek, and hiking up into the hills behind the cabin. The adults love the peace that this place embodies. If you need to get away from everything and if you're fine with only listening to wind and water, this is the place for you. We can't wait to come back again.

Palo Alto, CATerrific place in a beautiful location.
Left on 09/15/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This is a wonderful spot -- 2 cabins in the Paradise Valley, surrounded by gorgeous mountains. The place has great character & is attractively & comfortably furnished. It is rustic & is accessed by a gravel road, so it seems remote, even though it's near Emigrant. It's not for folks who want a standard hotel experience. We loved it. My only small criticism would be that the selection of kitchen cookware & supplies provided could be better. For example, there were 4 well-used frying pans but no large salad or mixing bowl, no place mats or napkins. And the refrigerator should be emptied, & odds & ends, plastic bags, & stale seasonings removed from drawers. Other than those minor kitchen complaints, the place was perfect. We had a wonderful time there & would love to return.

Left on 08/30/2010 for a stay in August 2010
My husband and I and another couple stayed here for five nights. It was perfect for each couple to have their own cabin. The main cabin is roomy, open and comfortable, and we just used one half of the smaller cabin, and were totally comfortable there. The setting is incredibly beautiful and remote, which we enjoyed. It was fun to go rafting in Gardiner and hiking nearby. The kitchen could use a few more things but overall it was totally excellent. Thanks, Scarlett and Chuck!

We had 4 children and 4 adults in our group. The cabin was perfect for us all. The children loved being about to roam around outside, the setting was beautiful, the cabin was comfortable and made you feel at home. The location was perfect also. We will definitely come back and rent this cabin again and we are already recommending it to friends! It helped make a wonderful vacation experience.

The family came from California, New Mexico and Washington. Since we had not been with each other in awhile, we decided to tour Yellowstone together. MVR helped us define the property that would meet our needs and assisted every step of the way to make our visit a success. The home was perfect in location and size.It even had a small library containing many books on the area, which proved very interesting. The best part of MVR is that they treat everyone as if you are their only client. I felt special and the entire family has a resounding thumbs up for their professionalism. I will and have recommended them to family and friends.

My brother in Sacramento, Ca. made the reservations on-line. The cabins were in such a lovely setting. It was quiet and peaceful. The cabin had lots of books, one of which my Mom read while we were there. We went 30 miles to Yellowstone. All the kitchen equipment you could need was there. the linens were adequate. I would love to go back with my daughters and their families...kids could just wander around. There is a brook running thru the property. They have a gas grill too. Lots of games too. We played Scrabble. Wonderful setting. Loved our stay!

Left on 05/09/2009 for a stay in August 2008
The cabins were remote yet close to nearby attractions such as Yellowstone National Park, Chico Hot Springs and the town of Livingston. They were tucked off a long driveway and had a beautiful view of the mountains. They are also located near several creeks, a lake and the Yellowstone River for fly fishing.
The main cabin had two bedrooms, kitchen, family room and laundry room and a wonderful screened in porch for many hours of lazy summer reading. The cabin was well stocked with books and non-electronic games (many from our era that our kids had never played)that were enjoyed at night as there was no TV. Outside had a basketball hoop and horseshoes. The cabin was nicely decorated with vintage era art of Montana.
The second cabin was a reclaimed unit from a highway motel and had two bedrooms and two baths as well as a 50's working refrigerator and was very comfortable.
The setup was perfect for two families to share and we had a wonderful time. If there was a pool, it would have been ideal, but a ten minute drive to Chico Hot Springs took care of that. -

CHICKAMAUGA, GAENJOYING THE "LAST BEST PLACE"
Left on 05/08/2009 for a stay in June 2008
WE WERE LOOKING FOR A PLACE THAT WOULD ALLOW US TO HAVE THE QUINTESSENTIAL "MONTANA" EXPERIENCE, TO SEE IT LIKE THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE "LAST BEST PLACE" SEE IT. WE FOUND THAT AND MORE AT ABSAROKA CABINS. WE WERE ABLE TO HIKE RIGHT OUT THE BACK DOOR UP A MOUNTAIN, ENJOY THE PEACEFULNESS AND BEAUTY OF THE MONTANA COUNTRY, AND ALL FROM OUR BASECAMP, ABSAROKA CABINS, VERY LOVINGLY RESTORED AND PERFECTLY SITUATED OLDER CABINS. WHEN WE FIRST DROVE UP THE LONG DIRT DRIVEWAY, MY KIDS WERE ASKING WHAT IS THIS? WHAT KIND OF PLACE HAVE YOU BROUGHT US TO? BY THE TIME WE HAD TO LEAVE (I COULD HAVE STAYED THERE THE REST OF MY LIFE!) THEY WERE HOPING WE COULD COME BACK. MY "KIDS" WERE 19 AND 17 AT THE TIME, PARENTS OF TEENAGES ALWAYS WORRY HOW THE KIDS WILL LIKE THE VACATION, THIS DID NOT DISAPPOINT. WE MOST DEFINATELY PUT ABSAROKA CABINS AND MONTANA ON OUR LIST OF PLACES TO RETURN TO.
IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A PLACE TO ENJOY THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY THAT IS MONTANA THIS PLACE IS FOR YOU. WE HAVE ALSO FIGURED OUT THAT RENTING A HOME WHEN POSSIBLE IS A MUCH PREFERRED WAY TO STAY ON VACATIONS. YOUR OWN HOME ON VACATION! THIS ALLOWS YOU TO TRULY EXPERIENCE THE AREA YOU ARE STAYING IN MORE LIKE YOU LIVED THERE, NOT JUST THE "TOURIST" SPOTS. WE HOPE TO BE BACK!!!!

Dix Hills, NYWonderful Montana Vacation
Left on 04/26/2009 for a stay in July 2008
We spent a fantastic week at the Absaroka Cabins, which we used as a
base for exploring the area. The cabins are exactly as described and
completely isolated, so much so that we had a little trouble finding
them on the first day (despite excellent instructions being provided).
We rented both cabins because we had a large party of 8 people, we
never felt overcrowded. The kitchen was basic but well equipped and
fairly spacious. The BBQ although old worked properly. The nearest
shops for food are 30 minutes away - so stock up in advance.
I thoroughly recommend these cabins if you want a slightly rougher
experience than some of the more luxurious alternatives that are also
available in this area. This was our first visit to Montana and enjoyed
it so much that we will definitely be back one day. -

York, PAFamily Vacation of a Lifetime!
Left on 04/24/2009 for a stay in July 2008
The folks from Mountain Home helped with finding a vacation rental that met the needs of my family. They made it very easy for our family of 8.
The home is situated next to a mountain that has views beyond belief! The sound of the small stream next to the home added to our delight. From the grazing cattle in one of the local pastures to the deer that frequented the hillside next to our property, it made for such a relaxing time.
The home is very nice, but does not have great TV reception. This made for a more peaceful stay.
Chico Hot Springs is a short drive away and was a favorite for our children.
There is a lake close by and a river for fishing.
Taking a walk up the mountian side in the early morning is something that our family truly treasured.
I would highly recommend this home for a vacation rental. I would also like to thank Mountain Home for helping to make our stay so pleasant. Our family looks forward to our next trip back to Montana!Response from Mountain Home - Montana Vacation Rentals - 05/12/2009
