Dating from around 1840, this property is one of the oldest in the village and has been sympathetically restored, retaining many of the original period features. On the outskirts of the village of Christon Bank, just a five minute drive from the wonderful beaches of the Northumbrian Heritage Coast, lies the traditional stone built farm dwelling called Gabby Cottage. Offering tasteful, comfortable accommodation, this lovely little cottage boasts an open fire and multi-fuel stove as well as an established garden - making it great for visits throughout the year. Able to sleep a total of six people, this property is a great home-from-home for an...yone looking to explore the wide rolling hills and fantastic activities this region has to offer.

Town: Eight miles north of Northumberland's picturesque market town of Alnwick, likes the charming village of Christon Bank. Not only are Alnwick’s beautiful castle and gardens close at hand, but visitors to the area are also only a mere two miles from the lovely bays at Embleton and Low Newton by the sea. These wonderful bays lay on a strip of unspoiled sandy beaches and are only a brief drive from the Holy Island of Lindisfarne, and the other nature-rich Farne Islands. Set in the rolling hills, this lovely little village has a traditional, real ale pub, which also serves food, but for more variety of cuisine, the neighbouring villages also host a number of excellent restaurants. All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  Embleton is quiet, but has a shop and a pub, which is everything you need really. We had a week of clear blue skies, and although it was cold this area of Northumbria is beautiful. No towels in the cottage though, is it just me that expects towels? Everything else was great. My favaourite place of the week - Howick Hall Gardens.

  Excellent base for touring area from Alnwick to Lindisfarne/Heri

  Nice little cottage with surprisingly large living room and very well-equipped
  kitchen. Within easy distance of the coast and its many castles/beaches and
  Alwnich and areas beyond. Owner very thoughtful and helpful - e.g welcome
  pack on arrival which we didn't expect. We went during October half term and
  the cottage was warm and cosy.
  
  The village of Embleton itself is nothing special but Warkworth, Amble and
  other towns on the coast are lovely - and the countryside over towards
  Rothbury (and further south if you venture down to Hadrian's Wall) is stunning.
  
  Plenty of eating and shopping in nearby Alnwick, where you can access the A1.
  
  We enjoyed our time very much.
