Description from the owner

Lime Hill is a delightful, modern four bedroom villa at Galleon Beach, a gated community at beautiful Freemans Bay, English Harbour, Antigua, truly a picture postcard location.

Infinity swimming pool, air conditioning, maid service, dishwasher, stunning views over English harbour, 2 minute stroll down the hill to a beautiful white sand gently sloping beach with calm clear blue sea, onsite restaurant, it really doesn't get much better!

Three four poster beds added in 2012, 2 super king, 1 king size, with full mosquito netting.

    Additional Location Information

Within the gated community of Galleon Beach Club, at English Harbour,Freemans Bay, just outside Nelson's Dockyard, about 40 minutes drive from the airport, free collection and return taxi available if you rent one of his hire cars.
Antigua roads are not of the best, and the access drive to Lime Hill is quite steep, so a 4x4, commonly available, is a good idea,

Picturesque setting with proximity to great restaurants

Left on 03/31/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Gorgeous villa overlooking a picturesque bay, in proximity to Nelson's Dockyards and many great restaurants. The views of the bay in the morning and at sunset are unforgettable. You are sure to enjoy your stay here, however, please be sure to bring tons of bug spray, as the local mosquitoes are ferocious, and rent a 4x4 vehicle as the driveway is very steep and a lesser vehicle might not have the oomph. The owner is attentive and fair. Overall, highly recommended.

Luxurious villa with a fantastic view

Left on 02/26/2013 for a stay in February 2013

This is a truly lovely villa in a stunning position. Of all the villas we have rented in antigua this was the best. Each bedroom is spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms newly done. The living area is beautifully decorated and the gardens a delight to sit in. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook and there are plenty of loungers/chairs and places to sit to eat, relax or sunbathe. The new gazebo will be an excellent addition to the amenities, offering mid day shade and a view.

Some positives, but overall, very Disappointing!

Left on 03/25/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We only lasted 3 nights out of a planned (and paid for) 7, before moving over to a resort on the Island. The written descriptions of the house don't thoroughly cover every aspect, and hide a few major drawbacks. It says "A/C in bedrooms" but neglects to include the word "only" as a qualifier. The main living room, with kitchen, dining area, TV area, and entertaining/reading room had no a/C at all, and it badly needed it. It was sweltering, even with the windows wide open (which let in mosquitos, even with the screens up). Now, it could be that we should have inferred that there was no a/C other than in the bedrooms from how it was written, but we didn't, and I think it should be more explicit. Also, the area where the house is is occupied with very dilapidated houses, and the driveway up to Lime Hill was so incredibly steep that it's exceedingly difficult to walk, and even to drive when it's rained. There are many positives about the house- to be fair- including such touches as "Lime Hill" emblazoned robes in the closets- but it did not suit our needs at all, and I found not mentioning either the lack of a/C or the ridiculously steep pitch of the driveway to be a bit dishonest on the owner's part.

Response from Colin Sanders - 04/26/2012

      Colin Sanders

      Owner

I was saddened and concerned to read this review, which is unjustified and inaccurate.

Prior to booking, he asked me numerous detailed questions, but omitted the most important: Sadly, one of his party had special needs, and could not take heat, and another was disabled and needed help to walk. I have great sympathy with his circumstances but he never made me aware of them.

Had he initially asked if the villa was suitable for disabled people, I would have said no.

These disabilities relate specifically to members of his party, and are in no way faults attributable to Lime Hill. Just prior to his return home, he emailed me, and I quote:-

“If you can see your way to returning any small portion of the rental fee it would of course be GREATLY appreciated, and I would then sing your praises to all the internet gods!”

I do not think it right to either offer or receive payment for a good review. Also, the implication was that if I did not refund him, he would give Lime Hill a bad review, which in the event, he has now done. This casts obvious doubt on the value and integrity of his review.

I have been renting Lime Hill for ten years now, and have never had a complaint about the drive, or the lounge being too hot, indeed with the large sliding doors open on both sides, it catches the gentle trade winds. Additionally, there are very effective fans, making it pleasantly cool.

I therefore totally refute his comments, and would ask you to draw your own conclusions.

most well-outfitted house in English Harbor

Left on 02/22/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Beautiful views from every room. 3 wonderful places to dine(each seats 6-8). Beautiful bedrooms, huge baths-outdoor shower is delightful.
Hummingbirds everywhere in the best gardens around. We were 6 adults
who like to cook and this kitchen is the best I've ever seen in a rental. Sharp chef knives, good oven, good gas grill, plenty of storage, good refrig. If you enjoy cooking and you shop smart at Epicurean in St.John's before arriving, you'll love dining in at Lime Hill. Short walk to nice beach, short drive to Shirley Heights--free water taxi to Eng. Harbor during the day.
Our fave restaurant was Catherine's Cafe (nearby).

What a delightful place. Wonderful situation and immaculately clean. The villa was a few minutes walk from the beach and a great little beach bar. The owner was very helpful - giving us the name of a super car hire gentleman (Titi) and organising for the maids to get some food in for the first couple of days. Loved watching the sun go down over the harbour - just heaven.

Lime Hill was impeccable, romantic and a pure dream.

Left on 03/30/2010 for a stay in August 2007

Our visit to Antigua was Aug 3 - 12, 2007. We chose to stay at Lime Hill Villa. I cannot say enough good things about this experience.

The Villa is a gorgeous 4 bedroom home with an infinity pool. Walking into the villa, you are surrounded by vining, flowering plants that drape the veranda upstairs. It really is breathtaking. There is also an infinity pool that is well maintained and overlooks the harbour.

All bedrooms were air conditioned. There are 3 bedrooms with either Queen or King beds and one downstairs that has 2 twins, so you can eaily sleep 8 people. Each bedroom also has its own bathroom. The master bedroom has an outdoor shower as well.

The main living space had doors that opened up the entire wall in the front and back, allowing the breeze to flow through. There are 3 dining areas; one in the house, one on the back patio and one on the front patio, near the pool, overlooking the gorgeous bay. The kitchen was well equipped. We had everything we could ever need there, including a phone and radio.

The cleaning gal came daily (except Sunday). She continuously added fresh flowers to vases all over the house. It was very private and the views are PRICELESS. We could have stayed forever.

We stayed a week here and will definitely go back.
We give this 5 stars across the board! Worth every single penny of our hard earned (and very long saved) money!

      Total relaxation in luxurious surroundings

Left on 03/08/2010 for a stay in October 2009

Set into a hillside in a small and exclusive residential community, this large, comfortable and superbly fitted villa is just a short stroll from the sandy beach with its small bar and restaurant.
The views across the water from the balcony area are stunning by day and night. Nelsons English harbour is close by and easy to get to.
A car is essential but the roads are very quiet. Plenty of places to eat out at reasonable prices.
      Other great beaches nearby.
The weather was hot with only occasional heavy showers.
      The villa is serviced daily.
