Cabot Shores Lodge is on the Atlantic side of Cape Breton Island, at Indian Brook.

At the entry to the Cabot Trail, the lodge both an excellent "jump off" point for sightseeing one of the best drives of a lifetime (per National Geographic Traveller) or as its own adventure destination.

The view is of the Atlantic and a 2007 foot beach, which borders Church Pond and Indian Brook, which is fed by a series of waterfalls.

So hiking, beach combing, swimming, fishing, canoeing/kayaking and hiking are activities favored by our guests, either on their own or with the aid of local experts and guides.

Personalized service is t...he hallmark of Cabot Shores, whether for adventures or for special tours (whale watching; eagle, puffin and seal tours of the Bird Islands opposite Cabot Shores; sailing) or retreats (art, photography, writing, music...) or wellness activities (massage, acupuncture, qi gong, yoga, personalized retreats or organization meetings.

The sweet spot for Cabot Shores is gatherings, with families doing reunions, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, honeymoons and friends meeting from across continents. The "licensed restaurant" bar offers magnifcient Nova Scotia seafood, food cooked over a fire and sometimes smoked, as well as local fruit and vegetables, often for our large organic garden.

Besides the restaurant, the Great Room of the Lodge houses frequent live music and concerts, art galleries and workshops encouraging life long learening and discovery.

The rooms look out on the Cape Breton Islands or on the panorama of Church Pond, beach, the Atlantic/Church Pond and the Bird Islands. Each room is 4 star, with its own bathroom, air conditioning and electric heat.   The cottage he rented to us was infested with ants. After confronting him we were told that that was part of the "outdoor experience" for $400 a night it was ridiculous.
  We had lobster dinner the first night that was horrible and cost more than the other 10 places in Cape Breton we eat at.
  The owner only cares about getting your money not providing any type of customer service.
  I would never stay here again.

  A Relaxing Retreat

  My husband, dog & I spent three nights at Cabot Shores. Barb & Dr. Paul were courteous hosts. We stayed in the lodge. Our room was spotless & comfortable. The meals were delicious & the scenery breathtaking. We would definitely stay there again.
