Without a doubt the Sea Parrot is the place to stay when in Cape Breton. Ideally situated, one can loop around the entire Cabot Trail, or do half one day and the other half the next. The owners have more information, connections to make reservations for tours or outings, than anyone. The hospitality and amenities and price surpass all expectations. The facilities are exceptionally clean and smell so fresh, the rooms are equipped with everything imaginable, from DVD players to large fans to nightlights; anything one needs all one has to do is ask and your request is immediately fulfilled and surprisingly there are no hidden or extra fees, as is the norm at all other places. This attention to detail is totally unique and will not be encountered at any other facility. The view of the ocean is spectacular from every point and room there, morning sunrise, sealheads bobbing, or evening moonrise sparkling on the water is mesmerising. Having visited other establishments on the Trail, this one is a five-star hands down, others can not come close to this. The owners Lonnie and Roy welcome and treat all guests like old friends, making your stay even more pleasurable. Will I be back - absolutely!!! Will I recommend my stay to others - absolutely!!! I plan to return next July.

We stayed at Sea Parrot during the busiest time of year on the Cabot Trail and it was a great experience. The owners of the Sea Parrot Oceanview Manor are like relatives who have a great place in the country and you're always invited to stay. And the property is remarkable. The grounds are well-kept and a set of stairs leads you down to a private rocky beach. It's a gorgeous view. Within minutes of our arrival, our two kids were down in the water discovering little starfish and other treasures. Our family of four stayed in one of the cabins for a week. We had everything we needed including cable TV and kitchen utensils, towels and sheets (even a dehumidifier, which makes humid summer days much more comfortable), yet we were in a gorgeous location that felt a million miles away from everything. We could spend our days hiking at the national park or at the beach, and when we returned to the cabin we could make dinner and watch the water. The owners set out firewood every night for a campfire and they make sure to have plenty of sticks (and sometimes a bag of marshmallows) for everyone to share. The kids had a ball and we got to know some of the other families staying in the cabins. The owners have the place completely decked out with two hot tubs, lots of hammocks and comfortable chairs and tons of outdoor toys and activities for the kids. The property has a variety of "housing" options. You can stay in the B&B;, some small apartments in a four-plex building, in a boat on land (looked fun), a camper, a freestanding cabin or one of the four two-bedroom cabins. The cabins were filled with mostly families, while the B&B; and apartments seemed to have honeymooners and couples. The property is big enough for everyone to get along well. The location is pretty easy to find, although you'll want to have groceries with you because it's not close to a town. The owner was very helpful and told us where we could stop for groceries on the way to the cabin. There's a great cafe (The Clucking Hen) about 5 minutes away and a pizza place not far, but it's best if you plan to have food on hand in the cabin. The owners were tremendously friendly and helpful. They know all about the boat tours, kayaking, etc., in the area and can help you plan day trips. We definitely plan to return and we've already recommended the Sea Parrot to a number of friends.

We stayed for 3 nights at the Sea Parrot in a 2 bedroom cottage with full kitchen. Coffee, tea etc were available in the cottage. Lots of towels. Our hosts Lonny and Roy were most hospitable and informative about the area. They did their utmost to make sure we were comfortable. Our cottage was very clean. Lots of deck chairs, hammocks, fire pit for campfire in the evening and jaccuzzi looking out on the ocean. Location is approx. 10 km. from the ferry at Englishtown and the start of the North Shore on the Cabot trail which has the most spectacular scenery ever.

We stayed in one of her beautiful ocean front units with sliders to the yard. The scenery was to die for. The unit was clean and well stocked with a jacuzzi bath, small kitchen area and comfortable bed. Antennae TV and outdoor hot tub were also available. Plenty of towels and comfy bathrobes with supplied.
The hearty breakfast was served in the nicely appointed dining room in the main house and was more than you could ask for.
We will certainly stay there again if we travel to Cape Breton in the future.Response from Yolanda DeFilippis - 09/09/2011

Coming from New Orleans, la we thought Sea Parrot was about pirates, but the name refers to the common name for puffins which are in abundance on the off shore islands.
Loni and Roy are very gracious hosts and have created an exceptional property. Our Bed and Breakfast room was quite large - more like a suite. Everything was very comfortable, very clean, and just perfect. Our room had a microwave, a small refrigerator, sink, and basic utensils - including a cork screw.
The property is very nice with panoramic views of the atlantic ocean and the offshore islands. Our children are grown and not with us but several familes had children and they had plenty of things to keep them busy. The grounds are large enough that children playing didn't spoil the solitude and glamor for us.
Two hot tubs, a fire pit, and lots of places to sit provide plenty of relaxation. Roy made a large fire in the fire pit and eveyone sat around sharing stories of their adventures which made our stay that much more rewarding.
Loni served a delicious breakfast every morning on the deck of the main house. So we ate every morning overlooking the atlantic! Loni offered about 5 or 6 different hot choices for breakfast along with lots of delicious fruit and cold cereals. A truly gourmet breakfast - we had to restrain ourselves every morning.
The Sea Parrot is in a great location to use as a base for exploring Cape Breton Island. We spent 3 days exploring Cape Breton and hope to return in a few years to enjoy the cape and Sea Parrot again.Response from Yolanda DeFilippis - 08/16/2011

My husband and I and our two children aged 14 and 11 are staying here for a 10 day trip. This place is right on the ocean, we've seen foxes, seals, whales, moose and seals. It is about mid-way between Baddeck and Ingonish, so not too far from shopping for groceries etc. The two bedroom cottages are new, clean, well equipped. The ocean side hot tub is fabulous, and we often sit in the hot tub and watch the seals frolic just off shore. It is a pretty central location for all of the things we wanted to do - Fortress of Louisbourg, Cabot Trail, Miner's Museum and more. The owners, Lonnie and Roy are very helpful and offer lots of suggestions of things to do and see. Definitely would come back here, and definitely recommend to anyone who wants a "home base" to visit Cape Breton.

Lonnie and Roy are wonderful hosts, we felt at home from the very beginning. Lonnie was very helpful with suggestions for sightseeing. We stayed in the wilderness cabin and it was perfect, wonderful view, well furnished, even robes.
We loved sitting in the swing on our porch and looking at the ocean and mountains. Now and then we would see a seal swimming. Very peace full and tranquil. After sightseeing all day we would stop a local restaurant and pick up lobster dinners and bring back to the cabin. It was so relaxing to eat dinner in front of our dining window and watch the sun set.
Lonnie is well known for her fabulous breakfasts, what a treat!! She and Roy were both terrific during our stay of two nights, only wish we could have stayed longer.
We also enjoyed their cute 7 yorkies, lots of fun! We highly recommend the Sea Parrot, it is a wonderful place to stay, you will not be disappointed. This place has everything one needs for a truly memorable stay. Thanks Lonnie and Roy for all the memories. We will return when we get back to Cape Breton!Response from Yolanda DeFilippis - 08/16/2011

I took my Mom on a week long vacation to Cape Breton, NS as a retirement gift. I had never been there before and didn't know what to expect. What a place! Loni had given us ideas and suggestions everyday as to where to go and what to see. My Mom had physical limitations but there was still plenty to do. We certainly kept busy! We were 20 minutes from Baddeck and 20 minutes from Ingonish. There are alot of artisans along the Cabot Trail where we stayed. Also, a quaint little bakery/restaurant (The Clucking Hen) was 5 minutes away where we went for breakfast a few times.
Loni and Roy made us feel welcome and right at home. The room we had was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. It had all of the amenities of home. The cottage we stayed in was built within the past few years. Everything looked new. We were about 50 feet from the ocean. There were 2 hot tubs overlooking the ocean as well as plenty of places to sit and even hammocks to relax. I woke up early a few mornings and saw beautiful sunrises. Even saw a moose on the property one morning with her baby. Definitely will be going back to stay at the Sea Parrot!Response from Yolanda DeFilippis - 08/16/2011
