Well, it was clean and the price was reasonable. Very nice view from the front porch, nicely tucked away high in the hills in a lot of trees.
But--badly in need of updating. Plumbing broke while we were there--and the maintenance guy (very nice) wasn't sure he could fix it because of the age and fragility of the pipes. One of the baseboard heaters didn't work (and it got cold overnight). All three lightbulbs in one bedroom were burned out (I found extras). Furnishngs, etc. are old and past their sell-by-date. Lots of "stuff" on the walls and laying around that just appears to be cast off junk that should be thrown away. As with almost every rental in EP area, the pictures make it look much more isolated than it really is. As always, really like the way Range Prop handles check-ins/check-outs (lockbox) and we had no issues with deposit check or anything else.Response from Range Property Management - 08/14/2012

We loved our vacation, the cabin was clean and roomy. We ate out on the deck every night! Having laundry at the cabin was great, the kids and adults got really dirty everyday. There was a lot to d in town also! Hope to come back soon!

This is the fourth time that we have stayed at the Far away Cabin. We love it. It is convienent to town, yet far enough away that there is a lot of wild life. We can't wait until our next visit.

Phoenix, AZGreat little cabin, was nice to have our own space in the woods!

Far away Cabin was a great place to stay while we were visiting the area. We came specifically to hike in Rocky Mountain National Park and were pleased to find the cabin an excellent location to access many different areas of the park. It's also close enough to town to have things to do but far enough away to have some quiet at night. We were a party of 4 and had plenty of space. It was a very pleasant stay.

The cabin was old and needs updating. It also had an old smell to it. Kitchen needs updating like a new stove. It was equiped with several pots and pans and utensels. The second bedroom (cowboy room) has a full size bed not a queen so the description need updating. Also the shower needs an update. We liked the location. We saw deer and a bear visited us on the deck. We enjoyed the deck but the grates on the gas gill need replacing. We lost power in half house twice. Overall the cabin was okay.

This was our 4th time staying at the Far away Cabin and we love it there. We intend to come back in the next year or two. The only negitive about the cabin is that is time to get some new mattresses. They are really saging in the middle. On the positive side we saw elk every day and even 2 bears.

We enjoyed our stay in the cabin wonderfully. In fact, my two and a half year old was very perturbed about having to leave. The grill could use a cleaning brush however. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, etc. I especially loved learning to cook on a converted wood stove. Overall, a tremendous experience we hope to repeat again in the future. Thank you for sharing this home with us.

Left on 12/07/2009 for a stay in June 2009
Had the most lively time in Far Away Cabin. The staff at Range were very helpful making us feel very welcome and had no problems explaining things to us city folks. The location is perfect for evening walks to get ice cream and catching a movie. The wild life was incredible. We had constant deer wandering around. And one morning watched a bear take a leisurely stroll. Fantastic. Would definitely stay again if we ever happen to hit up Estes Park in the future. Five stars!
