Whitefish Bay, WICharming home with incredible views
Left on 05/23/2013 for a stay in May 2013
Perfect rental for our family of five. We've stayed at the Rell 3 times over the past 9 years. Perched high on a mountainside, the home has incredible views of the Rockies. Had a herd of mule deer stop by this time! Convenient to the National Park and downtown Estes Park for dining and shopping. The property is very nicely decorated to feel more like a home than a rental. Because of the decor, could be challenging for families with toddlers, but you could ask for fragile items to be put away during your stay. On our next trip to Denver, we will once again plan a side trip to Estes Park and stay at The Rell.

St. Louis, MOWaaay High in Estes Park!
Left on 12/05/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The view from our home was outstanding! The Rell was nicely equipped with just about everything you would need to enjoy your stay. The fireplace is very enjoyable in the evening, when you overlook the Continental Divide and see the twinkling lights of the Ymca camp below. The baths were exceptionally clean as was the kitchen, and there was not a speck of dust anywhere!! Waking to snow covered mountains were just breathtaking! We would love to return if the carpeting was replaced and the furniture (see below).
The only complaints we had were: 1) The carpeting is old and very dirty in the high traffic areas. We would suggest it be taken out and replaced with wood flooring - much easier to keep clean. 2) The Living Room furniture is a fabric blend, which holds all dust, allergens, etc., and after 12 hours, we were sneezing and had a stuffy head. That meant trips back down the hill to town for the most part. A leather covered sofa and chairs would be much better on those with allergies. -

This was our third stay in the past 2 yrs and Rell is starting to feel like home. The views and sunsets over the mountains to the west are breath taking. Rell is a clean unit, love having the attached garage and fireplace with the well appointed kitchen. We hiked every day and the location of Rell and Windcliff makes for a short drive and direction to the trail heads. Great times and we'll be back - jet

We must give mixed reviews for our stay at Rell. Overall the facility was nice - and while the design was a bit dated (who wants 14-foot ceilings in their bathrooms?), and the place has become perhaps a little run-down, the kitchen was excellently equipped, the living areas were certainly comfortable. The reason we stayed at Rell, however, was the view. Indeed, it is a terrific view. But from about 2pm till sunset, the western sun is so strong that it raises the inside temperature, even after closing shades, etc. by about 10 degrees above the outside temp. This can be combatted by the whole house fan, but unfortunately it sounds about like having a jet engine during take-off situated just off the living room in the upper reaches of the kitchen. And because of the drawn shades, you have no view - further, because of the angle of the sun, if you do open the shades, you can't see the view because of the angle of the sun shining right into your eyes. And the deck, being only 4 feet wide into which the only ventilating windows must open out 2 feet, becomes virtually unusable.
So we loved the idea of the house, but we found in practice that it was pretty much of a disappointment.

We loved the condo. It was dated and a little dingy but the view was amazing. I had heard complaints about the bed. I found it very comfortable. It does get hot in the afternoon, so you learn to put the shades down till it cools off. Our neighbors downstairs were a little noisy with making there phone calls out on the deck. But otherwise it was very quiet. The unit could use a new dishwasher. Best to wash your dishes by hand. And they could use a new can opener - doesn't need to be electric and a new blender. Took me 10 minutes to mix my smoothie every morning. We saw wildlife - deer and a bear. By the end of the week we were used to driving the steep driveway. But it is the view and close proximity to Rmnp that we loved. Woke up every morning to the beautiful view of the mountains and went to bed with the stars!

No air conditioning in this unit. Was 70 degrees outside yet somehow was 81 degrees inside at night. Had a 5 night reservation... Left after the third night because we couldn't sleep, nor could we stand to hang out at the condo during the afternoon because it was so hot inside! The beds were old, soft and uncomfortable. Beautiful views though.

We are sorry that you were hot. None of our vacation homes have air conditioning. It's the mountains.
The Rell home does have a whole house fan with controls and instructions for use located in the kitchen. Even in the peak of summer the mornings and evenings are cool and the effects of the afternoon sun can be mitigated by lowering the shades and opening windows. -

Rell was a wonderful home for us after hiking each day in Rocky Mountain NP. The view was spectacular from all the windows and decks, and we never tired of watching the mountains and sky. We never regretted the end of a hike as we were headed to a relaxing and comfortable home with a continuation of the mountain views. The house was the right size for three adults, the appointments were remarkable, and the furntiture and beds were comfortable. The kitchen was great! The place was spotless when we moved in, and the linens and towels were good. A real plus is the close proximity to the entrance of Rmnp. I highly recommend this home.

Left on 07/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We arrived at Rell with much antisapation, based on the reviews it was sure to be a wonderful home , but then we never expected to find 4 adults and 4 children screaming and beating the walls below the floor below us, even the pictures were rattling. We thought oh boy what did we get ourselves into,we tried to put up with it as long as we could you could here it like it was in the same room and then we finally had to walk down to (pullack) the villa below us to ask them to please hold it down. She explained that it washer fathers home and they come up from boulder often , but the never had anyone above them at the same time. She apologized and form that point on it was quiet. Having feeling like crap for ruining their holiday, their children went home and it was quiet from that point on. The home had a dark interior flare, the carpets were dirty, the furniture my wife had taken a towell and some cleaner and wiped the furniture, the towell was black. The toilet in the master bedroom
rocked back and forth which forced us to use only one bathroom. The grille on the deck was not working on one side, and we had read that from a previous guest. It just needs to be updated and cleaned. It has a lot of potential but it is suffering from not being kept up. I know the other reviews of this property were extremely positive, but let the truth be known its dirty behind all that dark furniture and dark walls. We stopped by the office and talk to the manager on duty and explained to her our feelings. She had stated that the carpets gets cleaned once a year, and that based on the use she said it might have been missed this year. To us if the floor and the other basics were getting missed, how sanitary are the other areas. You can't beat the view, just bring some cleaner with you and ear muffs and hope there is no one below you.Response from Windcliff Properties, Inc. - 08/31/2012

We regret that you had problems during your stay. We wish that you had called us about the noise because we could have addressed the issue promptly. The problems with the grill and toilet have been resolved. All of our vacation homes are cleaned by our staff and we consistently get 5 star reviews for housekeeping. We are sorry that you were disappointed with your stay.

Arriving at 10pm in a driving rain wasn't fun, but that faded into 3 days of stunning enjoyment. Four outdoor-loving seniors lapped up all you can do around town and in Rmnp, then just ate up the condo and all its splendor. Perched on the mtn side w/ all that glass just made it perfect. Never turned on the big screen TVs. Our Canadian friends kept saying "How did you find this place?!!!"

We stayed at the Rell and it was really nice. Views are unbelievable, interiors are very nice, kitchen is well stocked and every thing was very comfortable.
The house is high on the mountain and fun to drive to and makes the views even better. The layout of the house is good and having the garage was great. The gas grille needed a little work as half of the burner didn't work. We never got the ceiling fan in the living room to work, so I don't know if it was us or if something was wrong with it.
We were there the middle of June and the house stayed nice and cool with the west shades down. There were additional fans, but we did not need them. The deck didn't have a regular table, but a "bar" type sitting area. It worked great for the 2 of us. We did get cell phone reception which was great! The wireless internet worked great also.
The staff at Windcliff did a great job of getting us set up and unfortunately we didn't need them for the entire stay, but we knew that they were there if we needed anything.Response from Windcliff Properties, Inc. - 06/13/2012

Thanks for the great review! The office was contacted about the ceiling fan and helped the guest correctly operate the remote control. We were unaware of the problem with the grill which will be investigated and fixed promptly.

This was bliss. The staff was helpful--even the cat! The condo was luxurious. The kitchen had everything! We saw deer foraging thru the lots. The bed was comfortable and we slept soundly.

I was extremely pleased with my stay at the "Rell". The staff is very friendly and helpful, there were no hassles at all booking our stay or getting help while we were there. They thought of everything!! There is nothing missing in this cabin. With everything from a full kitchen with all the things we needed to cook anything we wanted to the wood pile in the garage for all the late night fires you would want. It really felt like staying in a home, there was literally nothing missing. We will definitely be coming back and might even make this a tradition to stay here! And the view is amazing!!! Wow is all I can say. It was superb. The things we loved the most were the view and the kitchen. I love a good kitchen:) I really cant think of anything that we didn't like.

These folks have seriously thought of everything, down to having a pen and pad by each telephone. Lots of extras left for us, like tea bags, hot cocoa packets, sugar cubes, and brown sugar for oatmeal. The feature I loved most was the 190 degree water spigot at sink to instantly make hot drinks - now I want to install one at home. The view was spectacular. The firewood was dry and small enough for a girl to handle making blazing fire with little work. Best vacation rental I've had!

Rell exceeded our expectations more than I can say! We booked this residence based on the views shown on Trip advisor, but still their magnificence took our breath away! The furnishings are beautiful and comfortable. We have stayed in some beautiful places, but none as well-appointed as this home. We really appreciated the iPod doc so we could listen to our music through the music system. My husband felt right at home in the well-equipped kitchen. I had joked with my husband that I planned to spend our vacation sitting on the deck staring at the mountains. Well, we did spend an inordinate amount of time doing so as the living room, dining room and both bedrooms has huge picture windows looking out at the tall, snow dusted peaks of Rmnp. While we were there, it stormed most afternoons and/or evenings, so the constant metamorphosis of weather reflected in the ever changing cloud formations, totally mezmerized us.
Some of the creature comforts I enjoyed were the washer and dryer, and plenty of hot water for a nice soak in the tub, the especially comfortable master bed, and large walk in closet off the master bathroom. The two decks running the length of the deck were awesome, too. And because I don't handle internet withdrawal well, I especially appreciated the wireless connection.
We can't wait to return next summer! -

Been taking a long weekend in Estes each winter for 14 years, always in a hotel or condo or cabin just outside of town. Big mistake. With Rell we had a luxury home with all the amenities and a 42-inch Hdtv, and spent significantly less than we've spent in past years. As others have noted, the view of Rmnp is spectacular. The home is large and comfortable. You park in a garage. And there is plenty of firewood. One note: The area is called "Windcliff" for a reason. The Estes area gets wind and with Rell sitting up high, we had a couple of nights of gusts at the upper end of gale-force, which caused a few things in the house to rattle enough a few times to wake you up. A small nuisance. As for getting there, we had an aWD car (not an SUV) and it handled the mountain road just fine, although it could be a challenging drive in any vehicle in a heavy snowstorm.

Left on 10/21/2010 for a stay in October 2010
Our family discovered Windcliff about 15 years ago. This was our first stay at Rell and the 5th Windcliff property we've stayed in. They've all been "home away from home." A few weeks ago, my husband and I took our first trip to Rmnp without our now young adult kids. Rell was the perfect size for us, as I think it would be for two family or friend couples, or for a family with younger children. I loved the way the Rells had remodeled/decorated (with new furniture) after their recent purchase: relaxed and cozy. WiFi, free domestic long distance, HD/Satellite TV, and the CD/Ipod player kept us in touch as much as we wanted to be. One of the things that attracted us most was the open, remodeled/updated kitchen. Some folks go on vacation to get away from cooking; we go on vacation to cook because we love to cook! (Although, we always eat out for a meal or two. There are many great restaurants in Estes Park!) After a day of hiking in the Park, it was back to the house for showers and then wine and snacks. Heaven. Total quiet, total majesty in front of you. Sunrises and sunsets are amazing. All in all, our week at Rell was another terrific "Windcliff" week. When you opt for an unobstructed view of the mountains, high up above other homes or greenery that would block that, you also opt for the process of temperature control when the weather is warm. It was still in the 70s during part of our week in October. What we did was open windows all around, and then completely lower all shades on the sunny side. We even ran the ceiling fan in the living area while we were out. This was crucial in keeping the house cooler on warmer days. By the time we returned late afternoon, the house was cool and comfortable. The Windcliff management is the best. They take care of you in every way and keep these homes in pristine shape for those of us who appreciate the opportunity to respectfully share owners' homes in an unbeatable location. Thanks, Rells!

Our stay at the Rell property was extremely enjoyable. The accommodations were very clean and the decor was wonderful. But the greatest joy was the nighttime view from the master bedroom windows. We were treated to a full moon rising and setting over the mountains. During the day, the view of the mountains was also terrific as was watching various wildlife!
The only negative was that the condo got a bit warm during the day because of the unseasonably warm temperature. We pulled the shades down on all of the western exposed windows but it was a tad warm in the late afternoon. It cooled off very nicely with opening windows for cross ventilation once the sun set.
The staff at the Windcliff office was terrific as usual and check-in and check-out were super easy! We will definitely stay at one of the Windcliff properties again! -

This was our 3rd time at Windcliff. The Rell was very comfortable and clean. The updated kitchen was a big plus and included just about anything one would require. This unit is a two bedroom and smaller than other units we have rented. However, the comfort and views were unsurpassed. There was a problem with the washer but the management went out of their way to resolve the issue. I might be a bit wary of this unit or any similar one with so many west facing windows in the very warm weather. We were there in early June and it was not very warm, but the place did heat up quite a bit from the sun. There is an exhaust fan but that might not be enough on a really hot day.

This was our seventh trip to Estes Park and we have never had such wonderful accommodations. The Rell overlooks the Ymca and Rmnp. This place is perfect for four persons-everything we needed was provided. The decor was beautiful and just right for a Colorado mountain home.
The ride up to the Rell is an experience, but it gets easier with practice. You should try Sunday brunch at the Y- it's really great and reasonable. The Y is also a great place for horseback riding. Summertime rafting is another great activity.
We were blessed with glorious weather - how fortunate. You really can't describe a home and surroundings like this...you have to experience it.

The most striking thing you will immediately appreciate is the awesome mountain views from every room of this property ... the kitchen faces out so your evenings include wonderful sunsets and sun rises ... we enjoyed waking each morning in bed to the cool mountain breezes and the awesome colors of the mountains right outside our (floor to ceiling) windows and two deck's ... Great! The location of this property is two miles up the side of a mountain and is a perfect location for couples and/or families with older kids (college age) who need time to relax, hike, or just read or listen to music in a tranquil environment. It was beautifully decorated in earth tones with a mystical calming affect that highlighted the Indian accessory of the region. The full kitchen was very well stocked with everything you could need to prepare a gourmet meal or just grill a couple of hot dogs... The property management staff was great. We stayed for two weeks and fully enjoyed each day!

I enjoy cooking and was pleasantly surprised to find the kitchen stocked with an assortment of appliances and utencil to cook almost any meal. In addition, the bedrooms and bathrooms were fully furnished to meet our needs.
Even though the house was outstanding, the most important aspect of the visit was the view. The mountains capped with snow where truely magestic.
