This is the perfect spot for a weekend among the woods with friends or as a couple. The vacation home was sufficiently large, had all needed amenities, a guitar and an ukulele as well :) The biggest plus was a hot tub overlooking the mountains!

The Windcliff staff was wonderful - friendly and helpful! We appreciated their attention to detail and all of the information that we received both in person and in the welcome packet. The location of Windcliff is great - very close to Rmnp. The home had fabulous views from every window but we especially enjoyed the deck(where we spent several mornings with a hot cup of coffee). The hot tub was a great place to soak sore, tired muscles after a full day of hiking in Rmnp - beautiful views/tons of stars and elk bugeling! The home had a lot of stairs and three floors, but this would allow for more privacy with larger groups. T.V. watchers may have a tough time as all but the one T.V., in the lower level bedroom, was small and difficult to view.

Estes Park is a great gateway to the Rocky Mountain National Park and the Windcliff Estate is a great location, mainly because the views of the mountains are truly spectacular. It's only a short drive to town or the mountains from there. The house itself was fine, comfortable and fully equipped, indeed it could easily accommodate several more than we two.

Upon arrivial we were greeted by one of Wincliff's friendly staff. She gave an overview of the property we were renting along with information about Windcliff including a warning about bears. How amazing it was when the day after check-in when we experienced a bear encounter just below the house. The Byrd home itself was much better than the web showed. The pictures and the video do not do the home justice. The home is amazing with breathtaking views. We were there with another couple and friend, we managed to get the wonderful third floor bedroom with sitting area and fireplace with a hot tub just outside our door. The moon was full during our stay so we had some amazing views from the hot tub as well as the other two decks. The home was stocked with everything you could possibly need. We can't wait for a return visit!

Our stay at Byrd was wonderful. From the stunning vistas, watching clouds form on a damp day, the sun catching the tops of the mountains at daybreak, the mule deer who rested in the yard, the relaxing on the decks and the spa, and the deer that greeted us at the front door our stay could not have been better. We came to relax and we were able to do that.

Stayed at Byrd 5/3/12 - 5/7/12 and could not be more pleased. Plenty of room, well stocked kitchen and unbelievable views. Had a herd of mule deer 10 feet from our door. Saw wild turkey, elk and a bobcat on the property. Staff was helpful and reccomended restuarants. Try Dunraven for the scampi and lasagna and Smokin Dave's rib (brought home suace). Great value during offseason rates.

This was my husband and I's first trip to Estes Park and we can't wait to go back!! The lady in the office was helpful and had all of our info ready for us upon arrival. The map was super-helpful on finding our house. The house was better than the pictures showed and was very spacious and clean. The views from both decks and the patio were breath-taking! The master bed was so comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with almost any appliance/dish you could want. The hot tub was wonderful and had a pretty view of the lights of town at night. We really enjoyed the fireplace, too. I can't say enough about this place! There were 2 small things that I didn't care for which was, there was some hair on the floor in the master bath upon arrival and I didn't ever find the password for the wi-fi at the house. Both of those things were very minor in the whole scheme of things. I would definately recommend this place to anyone who wants to relax!!

Clean, Beautiful, Accomodating. When I get away to the mountains with the family, I want the above mentioned without a hassle. They had everything ready including a special treat inside, and a hassle free checkin/out. The only thing that was a little meh was the taxes, service fee and cleaning fee. By the time it was all done I was paying $200 more for the place. If I stayed for a week not to big of a deal, but when I stayed only 2 days its like paying $100 more per day just for all the added costs. Also, I had to pay for people over 2. Its a whole 3BR house! I would understand if I added more people that the amount it holds, but any more than 2 (especially children under 12) is getting a little nickle and diming-ish.

We rented this property for 5 nights and loved every minute of it. The views are incredible, the house was well stocked and very clean. I'll admit the decor was a little outdated, but it was perfect nevertheless. We really enjoyed the hot tub. There were only two of us (on our honeymoon), but it would be great for families. I have included a picutre of the view from the deck, what a wonderful thing to wake up too.
They had enough parking for 3 cars and a great gas BBQ.
The property is only about 10 minutes from town, (5 to get down the private driveway) and another 5 or so to get into town. It's great to get away from downtown and enjoy the beauty of Estes. We would love to go back and stay at this property again.
Our only complaint was the internet was spotty at best. Highly recommend this property! -

The home looks just like the pictures on the website. I liked the fact that it was a single family, very private. Very comfortable, except the bed in master was a little too soft. The kitchen had everything - much more than I have in my kitchen at home! The hot tub was awesome, especially after hiking three hours in the rain. The views were spectacular from all 3 decks. I would hope to go back some day.

Left on 08/27/2011 for a stay in August 2011
This was our first trip to Colorado. We were visiting our oldest son (24 yrs old) who moved to Denver for his job one year ago. After spending two nights in Denver we spent the next four nights in Estes Park at the Byrd home managed by Windcliff Properties. There were six of us in our group including myself, wife and four children aged 24, 22, 19 and 16.
We arrived a little early and there was no problem checking in. The home was ready. The staff at Windcliff was terrific. They were friendly, courteous, informative and expedient. Great way to start.
The home is about half way or so up the mountain. There are many switch backs on the gravel road so you need to drive carefully but it was no problem whatsoever. When we arrived at the home we could see the home was meticulously maintained and very nicely appointed. The pictures on the web site are very accurate unlike many places where the pictures look great and the property then disappoints.
The home is three levels with a porch/balcony/patio on each level. The hot tub is on the bottom level. The home is spacious and very comfortable. There are lots of windows for you to take in the terrific views. The views of the mountains are the best part of this home. Words can't describe how awesome the views are. Relaxing in the hot tub with the mountains in plain sight...doesn't get much better than that.
The Byrd house was truly a home away from home. It had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and easy including linens and a fully appointed kitchen with every cooking tool and utensil you could need. We can't wait to go back again. -

Enjoyed the Byrd House greatly and beautiful view.
Felt the Windcliff Properties front desk employees were overwhelmed and short staffed. Staffer Nancy was short and rude to others and me. First experienced her rudeness on the phone and again when I arrived. While waiting to be checked I saw her rude behavior with the family checking. Michelle and young man were very helpful and pleasant and compensated for Nancy's rudeness. I felt they went beyond the necessary means to insure everyone was happy and had a nice stay. -

The Byrd house was a very nice home to stay in. You could tell the owners pay close attention to keeping their home in good order. The kitchen was well appointed with every dish, glass, cooking sheet, bowls, pans, spatulas, cork screws, etc that you could need to prepare any meal. Good instructions for use of the hot tub, television remote controls, etc.. Well stocked with starter items such as shampoo, razor, toilet paper, etc... Plenty of spices in the cabinet. Fantastic views from everywhere!!! Downstairs shower is tight, if you are a big person you will want to use the upstairs shower. Be careful using the fireplaces, there are instructions for the flue (and I have a fireplace at home & make fires all the time) but I don't know if the flues are operating correctly. I tried making a fire in each of the fireplaces and got nothing but smoke blow back so nixed the attempt both times. They do start you at with some firewood and gel starter packs which I would recommend swapping out for "fat wood" started pieces. The 2 flights of stairs from the bottom floor bedroom & out door hot tub were a bit of a hassel but we are healthy & in good shape. Great place to stay, the welcome center personnel were delightful as was Emma (doggie) and Mr. Bond (cat). I would highly recommend staying at this home.

Left on 10/13/2010 for a stay in October 2010
The Byrd home is about 1/2 way up the mountain which is about just right--not so far that it takes a long time to get down the winding road to the main highway. Absolutely quiet on the mountain other than the sound of the wind rustling through the trees and the birds.
The beds were very comfortable and the home had everything we could want. Kitchen was well-furnished. Two wood-burning fireplaces. Windcliff furnished wood, kindling, and firestarter packets which we appreciated. The office staff was very polite and helpful. There was an assortment of books, videos, music CDs, and a few games for time at home. Lots of space for a larger group to spread out and have their own spaces. My husband especially liked the downstairs LCD t.v. area by the fireplace for his football game. The hot tub is nice--you can sit right under the stars and the continental divide is right across the valley.
Great location, as it is only about 5-10 minutes max to the park or the downtown area once you get down the mountain.
The home is three levels and the stairs are quite steep so that could be a problem if you are older or have bad knees. Check out the floorplan on Windcliff's website.
Be sure to get a reservation at the Dunraven Inn restaurant for awesome Italian food. We enjoyed going to the golf course at dusk and saw some elk during rut very close to us--so close, in fact, that we could actually smell them.
We were there Thurs-Sunday in October and the first 2 days were very quiet and serene, but by noon on Saturday there were tons of people in town. So if you want to avoid the crowd, avoid the weekend.
My only complaint is the price. Windcliff charges extra for each person beyond two. And they also add a non-refundable $50 "damage waiver" on top of everything. Seems the damage deposit should be refunded if you don't damage anything... Still, beautiful place for a great getaway.

Upon arrival, the staff more than extended an opening welcome. The Byrd was immaculately clean. It was, without a doubt, one of the best vacations I have ever been on simply based on where I stayed! I would highly recommend Windcliff Properties and the Byrd. If you are adventurous or not, there are plenty of things to do right on the property - walk all of the roads throughout Windcliff and admire the different houses, hike on Rocky Mountain National Park trails that start from the edge of Windcliff property, or simply stay in and build a fire and drink coffee. Amazing Stay! Will do again, someday.

Left on 09/21/2010 for a stay in September 2010
My wife grew up in CO, but I am from SC (212 Ft above Sea Level) - she wanted me to experience true mountains as we hike and backpack extensively in the SouthEast. I am without words to describe my "Rockie Mountain High" !!!
The view from Byrd would be worth the time and money by itself, but we found the house to be more of a home-away-from-home. The house was the cleanest rental I think I have ever stayed in. There was everything we needed to maximize our stay, without having to bring anything except food and beverage. Although, I must admit, the three flights of stairs hurt my "flat lander" lungs a little bit at first !? The Windcliff staff are wonderful - I do understand why they love their jobs so much - living in Estes Park is kind of like "cheating" - thanks again !! Will & Shelley -

The ease at which we were able to rent the Byrd was most welcome! We arrived in Estes Park without any accomodations, and were able to call, look at the property, and rent within an hour! The office staff was very pleasant and made our stay hassle-free! The house itself was fully equipped and had all the comforts of home. The view was amazing and the hot tub was absolutely wonderful! However, it was a bit windy while we were in it and the top almost blew off, so it needs some method of tieing down the top. We will definitely return, and possibly buy in the subdivision!

My friends and I desired a mountain retreat at which to disappear between the holidays and we found exactly that at the "Byrd" property in Estes Park. I hadn't been to Estes in almost 30 years and was glad to renew my "acquantance". The home was immaculately kept and perfectly appointed. Comfortable, welcoming and with a view that rivals many. The most strain we put on ourselves while there was assembling one of the available 500-piece jigsaw puzzles. I would recommend this and other Windcliff properties to my friends and family and, should I be headed to Colorado again, I would be more than happy to stay over with the "Byrds".

The 'Byrd' House exceeded our dreams. We so needed a place to 'unwind' and relax. The view was undescribeable. There was a 'place' for everything. We especially loved the 'step-by-step' instructions for the tv/sound-system, the fireplace, and even the hot tub. It truly was like being at home. The kitchen made me WANT to cook more! We actually got to experince this awesome home during a 'snow'. The beauty of white everywhere gave new meaning to a 'blanket' of snow! The service was very warm and caring. Being from a metro area, the drive into town was nothing. Look forward to a return trip sometime!

Lisa and myself spent a long weekend at the Byrd House and found this a very enjoyable stay. Nicely decorated and fully stocked kitchen (huge array of spices). BBQ grill was out of gas but found another bottle in the garage. If you want to know what a mountain retrete is truly about you need to stay at the Windcliff homes. The Byrds house took some getting used to as there are alot of stairs and it is somewhat like being guests in a strangers home but once again it is a very pleasant place for a long weekend. Wow! The Byrd home was incredible. The house was beautiful, clean and had everything we needed for our stay (even the kitchen was stocked with all the essentials). Our hot tub on the deck was great and the views were incredible. We lost count of how many deer and elk we saw on the property - even saw deer from the hot tub one evening. Over six months after our trip and the screen-saver on my computer is still the view from the Byrd home. I'll admit I was a little apprehensive renting a vacation home strictly from the info provided on a Web site ... but I should not have worried. The Windcliff staff were very helpful and professional. We recommend Windcliff to everyone!
