Great Space. Decent location although the road to the west makes privacy concerns and event auto light and sound shows.
The challenges are that the place missed simple amenities for example you should be able to expect if there's a pepper grinder that it's loaded, you should make sure oil and vinegar are available, the coffee maker should be cleaned, etc. When you pay what is asked for these, basics shouldn't be something missed.
Unless you are tall like me, the master bed will require a step stool.
I just think you can get more for your $ elsewhere in Windcliff.
However for readers I will state while I always come back I will never give any property in Windcliff 5 stars simply because if the home can house 8, then when you pay the rent the whole $25/pp add on should be included...and I've only ever come to Windcliff with my wife. It's just something that is equivalent to usary especially on the larger homes.Response from Windcliff Properties, Inc. - 04/26/2013

Thank you for your review. First of all, I just want to clarify that the Alpenglow is a two story detached home, not a "single story".
We deliberately do not stock condiments in the home because we cannot vouch for their freshness or sanitary condition. This is clearly stated on the Windcliff Properties website. We do try hard to keep our promises but are not responsible for keeping promises we do not make.
I would also like to clarify that Windcliff is a single entrance community. There is no through traffic. Since it is a residential neighborhood there is some vehicle traffic but the neighborhood is so quiet that you can hear a wild turkey gobble from half a mile away.
We apologize that the coffee maker was not cleaned to your satisfaction. Had you notified us we would have sent housekeeping up to correct the error.
Regarding pricing, we are unusual in that we have a base rate for 2 persons and an additional charge per additional person per night. The base rate allows guests to stay in a larger home without having to pay for the maximum occupancy if they are a couple or small party.
We get many guest comments about what good value we offer but of course this is a matter of personal preference. We do offer substantial seasonal discounts depending on when you come.
The master bed is equipped with a step stool. The bed features an extra-thick mattress which we think is a nice amenity. -

This home exceeded our expectations! We have rented many homes over the years and I have to say this one is one of the best. Excellent location with all the amenities of home. We had a hard time leaving just to go to town for a few hours. The views were amazing! We had sun and snow, you are high up on the side of the mountain and the clouds sometimes float by right in front of you. Windcliff is an awesome area, not too far from town but far enough that you feel like you are out of town. The employees of Windcliff are top notch and will exceed your expectations as well.

This property was absolutely amazing! This house has all of the amenities you could possibly need/want while away from home. The rooms and furnishings were all very nice and the view was completely breathtaking. My family rented this house to surprise my mom for her 60th birthday and we didn't want to leave. The kitchen has everything you need, bedrooms were very comfortable, master bedroom/bathroom is spectacular, decks are great with gorgeous mountain views, living areas are very cozy and decorated beautifully! We will be back for sure!!!

For our Eighth visit to Windvliff we chose this lovely home. It was a terrific choice. It is fully equiped with everything needed for a comfortable stay with all the ammenities one could desire.View is lovely, beds are comfortable and the kitchen divine. Having two living areas was a treat as we could spread out and have our privacy. Though we and our best friends are most compatible it was great to have the extra space. All in all thumbs up all around!!

My husband and I decided to take a week long vacation in a totally new place and try to do some hiking. We were so excited about the town and the entire area and so pleasantly pleased with the home. The home was exactly what we pictured with the most fantastic views. Unfortunatley my husband took ill and we had to spend one day the the Emergency Room so the vacation did not turn out exactly as planned. His comment to everyone back home was "If you have to be sick, there's no better place".
The home was so clean and well maintained and met our needs in every way. My only suggestion would be to have a broom or a swifter available to keep the beautiful wood floors from getting dusty (I'm a little of a clean freak).
Thank you again for allowing us to share your home. -

The house was clean (not a spec of dust)and the kitchen had every appliance and spatchula you could imagine. We went for a girls getaway weekend and enjoyed every aspect of the house. The master bed is very high and the house is high up on the hill so the drive can be scary but the view was totally worth it.

All the homes we have stayed in have been spectacular...from the moment of check-in to the luxurious homes to the spectacular views... it's like a slice of heaven. There are an unlimited amount of things to do: hiking, golfing, shopping, winery's,dining or just hanging out and enjoying the peace and quiet of the Rocky Mountains.

cost was a bit excessive for what we got. took 3 days (of our five day stay) to adjust to the altitude.the one thing that was outstanding was the view of the continental divide. the house that we stayed in was fine for one couple, but not for two, because of a single master bedroom.the single master on the upper floor was excellent. overall our stay in estes park was good. thank you. randy and glory ohrt, iowa. p,s. glad we missed the huge snowfall you had one week after our stay.

Alpenglow was delightful - all the amenities of home but more. The house was very comfortable, the views fantastic and location was great. The only change I would make is the master bed - it was comfortable once you got in but getting in was a challenge. It was too high off the floor. Everything else was perfect. I hope to stay here again in the future.

We are so glad you loved the home! Alpenglow is very popular and we really enjoy having it in the program. The owners are very attentive to keeping the home beautifully furnished and fully equipped. They are here this week and have installed steps for the master bed to make it easier to get into.
We hope to see you back at Windcliff soon! Thanks for the review. -

Loved the drive up to alpenglow. The most incredible view the whole drive. Alpenglow is a beautiful mountain home. The smell of leather (living room furniture) when you walk in the front door is intoxicating. I so appreciated the updated decor of this home. I loved the feeling of everything being so clean and new. I never got the creeps covering up with a blanket or using towels like I have gotten in some hotels or other homes I have stayed at. Loved the honor wine bar and enjoyed a bottel of wine the first night there. We loved all the treats that were left for us along with tea, coffee, and hot chocolate. We also appreciated the extra razors, shampoo, and body lotions. Stargazing from the upper deck and the hottub was amazing. Unlike some people, we loved the high bed in the masterbedroom and thought it was fun!!! We loved being able to pull into the garage when it was raining. Also, the amount of wood that was left for us was awesome. We had several fires in the fireplace, which created a great ambiance in the living room. We appreciated not having to bring our c.d. player and being able to use the one in the home for our music. One of my favorite things was the dining room from the furniture to the chandelier... I thought it was beautiful. Last but not least was the view from the deck... The sunrises and the sunsets were incredible!

My husband and I came up here with my mother and sister at the tail end of august-into September. Alpenglow was the perfect choice! The house is warm and welcoming, it's stocked with everything you need and the views are spectacular. We all agreed that our favorite moments of the vacation were the times we spent sitting on the deck enjoying the view and some close-up encounters with hummingbirds!
We would love to come back. -

This was my 7th or 8th rental in Windcliff over a 25 year span and I feel the best. The furnishing were great. We loved the owners photography. The kitchen was well equipped and spacious. We could really cook in it. The driveway and garage were easy to handle. (some have not been) A few things that could be changed--we were there for 2 weeks and would have liked extra sheets, so we didn't have to wait to make the beds with the clean ones. We needed a better vacuum for the floors and a dust mop to keep the dust at bay. We had 4 computers with us and a table at the window in the kitchen that we could use for the computers would be nice. My husband and I had the master, so our daughter and her family could have the downstairs, and I found it very difficult to get in the high master bed. Please consider older folks and remove a layer to that bed. We are only in our 60's, but that bed was a challenge.

The house has been made over beautifully. The kitchen could use a few more serving pieces. Also, the bedroom layout downstairs should be moved around. One of the adult guest rooms downstairs doesn't have a dresser, and the other adult guest room only has 1 nightstand. A suggestions...just put the two twin beds in the middle room, and move one of the queen beds to the furthest room down the hall to take advantage of the walk in closet/dresser for the adults. This would make it much more live-able. Add a night stand for the other queen room so both adults have a night stand. The master bedroom upstairs needs a much smaller box spring--buy a bunky board. My almost 70 year old mother had to use a stool to get in and out of bed--it was a bit ridiculous and an accident waiting to happen. Also the hot tub downstairs was a bit small. But the decor, the sound system, the TV set ups, the amenities and the other attention to detail were great. It's a gorgeous house and the only reason I'm making these comments is that we plan to come back and I just want it to be that much better. A+++ house, we loved it!

Left on 06/15/2011 for a stay in June 2011
This vacation home far exceeded our expectations. The photos don't do it justice. The house was spotlessly clean and the little extras provided meant that we only needed to buy groceries after a long drive. Thank you to the owners for providing guide books for the area and Directv with a DVR. My 6 yr old son was ecstatic that we could record his favorite shows just like at home. The view and location was unmatched by any other place we have stayed and the Windcliff staff made the check in/out so easy and painless. This house easily accommodated 2 families because the downstairs was so private and comfortable. The neighborhood was quiet and there were plenty of areas to explore and wildife to see without going to far from the house. After this experience we will never stay anywhere else when we visit the Estes Park/Rmnp area!

Thank you for your review of Alpenglow. Due to in ceiling electric heat the owners are unable to install ceiling fans, however, they have purchased tower fans for each bedroom. We are also happy to provide fans to our guests upon request. Thanks again. We hope you will stay with us again.

Alpenglow is very comfortable, clean and new. There were plenty of blankets to stay warm with which was nice since it was cold. They also have a nice assortment of Dvds and music even though we did not use any during our stay. The kitchen is very nice and fully stocked. We enjoyed the grill and cooked several meals while we were there. Loved the convection oven since it cut the cooking time down. We have stayed at other rentals similar to Windcliff in other states and had not run accross a honor wine bar system. This is a very nice touch especially when we first checked in and we had not been to the store yet. Windcliff also provides a couple of snacks upon arrival and plenty of hygeine products - i.e. razors, soap, toothpaste, shampoo etc. The owners of this property have provided everything you would need for a family. The only thing I did not see in the house were things for babies i.e. highchairs, cribs etc but we did not need these things since our kids are 8 and 4. I would be remiss if I didn't talk about the views- beautiful. The balconies are very nice with wonderful views. The hot tub was much utilized especially after skiing and sleding all day. The location is beautiful and the drive to the house is not that far from Estes Park - approx 15 min. Real close to the entrance of the Rocky Mountains. Love the quiet time at night with the no lights after 9. The stars are beautiful along with the crisp air and view of the beautiful mountains. It snowed a couple of times while we were there but nothing that kept us from driving. The only thing we wished we would have changed was to stay at the house more. We drove quite a bit while were were there to snowmobile, ski, and just see the sights. Fyi - if interested in snowmobiling check out Wyoming. We drove about 3 hours -1 way to Dillon becuase you can't cross the mountains during the winter so you have to drive around. We would like to thank the owners for sharing their beautiful house!
