Description from the manager

Kathleen’s Cottage is a historic log home built in the early 1900’s in downtown Estes Park off Riverside Drive. Just cross the street and take the Riverwalk one block to the shops and restaurants of downtown Estes Park. Or go to the park with playground area and picnic tables. Stop along the way for coffee, ice cream or a chat by the river. And maybe take in a concert in Bond Park. Park at the cottage and use the free shuttle to tour around town and out to Rocky Mountain National Park. This wonderful one level home has been lovingly preserved with its original built-ins and older windows. The kitchen has been updated with stainless steel...Read more

Great things about this place: location, charm of architecture, lovely front patio, comfortable bed, very clean, quiet. The owner lives in the back duplex and was very friendly and generous in giving us a second large pot to boil water in for corn after we asked. Would have been nice if the windows in bedrooms opened -- in fact there are no windows that open other than a small kitchen window and the front door. (Building code?) Luckily the bedrooms had ceiling fans, but it was still warm. The guy next door had to come help us reattach the propane so the grill would work. Also, the phone kept ringing for "Kathleen"; her friends and family apparently thought she was living there, and we got one call from someone who saw the sign on front gate, inquiring about renting. Guess that number should be changed to the rental agency. Those were about the only drawbacks. All in all, we'd probably stay again. We need to still get $200 cleaning deposit back ... therefore I did not rate service ... yet.

Peaceful, restful and just a great place to stay

Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Everything about our stay went smoothly and exactly to plan. The cottage has the charater of the early 1900's with almost all the modern amenities. The location was very convenient to the town, yet still felt secluded. The bed was comfortalbe and the kitchen well-equiped. We loved the laundry facilites, returning home with clean clothes! The place itself was very clean as well. The only snag was the lack of a hair dryer, but my wife's hair dried fairly quickly and with little frizz in the low humidity of Estes Park.
We have never met Kathleen, but her home gives off an atmosphere that tells us she is a special person. We felt completely relaxed, calm and at home in the cottage and hated to leave.

Kathleen's Cottage A hummingbird visited us at this table The bed was clean and comfortable The kitchen had everything we needed A homey, comfortable place. We hated to leave!

Great in town location with a few problems

Left on 08/01/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Girl friend and I spent a long weekend in Estes Park. Kathleen's cabin was the perfect size for us and we enjoyed being able to walk to the downtown shops and restaurants without a lot of traffic on "our" street. Kitchen was great with nice appliances. There were a few problems. The key to the front door needs replacing as it is very hard to use. And we would have liked to be able to open the lovely windows and bring in fresh, cool air but they were all painted shut! Master bedroom was comfortable but it's time to replace the twin matresses in the second bedroom.

A wonderful place to stay, walking distance to all of Estes Park

Left on 07/17/2012 for a stay in July 2012

An excellent cottage for a couple or a small family. You are in walking distance for anything downtown. You have very good access to roads leading to the lake, the national park and just about anywhere without having to drive though the busy downtown streets.
The place is clean and well maintained. Good WiFi connectability and internet speed.
Our only complaint was only one window could be opened and it was unusually warm during our vacation but that should not stop you from renting this very attractive cozy little cottage. We will be happy to rent this place again!

The Big Thompson is just across the street.
