San Antonio, TXThe Kinney home is the perfect place to stay for a vacation in E
Left on 12/05/2012 for a stay in November 2012
The Kinney home has absolutely everything needed for a wonderful and relaxing stay in Estes Park. The house is very comfortably furnished. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to cook and serve meals. I only had to bring in the groceries. The view of the mountains is awesome from every room. I plan on renting this home again in the near future. I highly recommend this property!

Lawrence, KSGreat rental, plan on returning
Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Stayed for a three day weekend with my girlfriend and we loved Kinney. Way too much space for just the two of us but we booked last minute and were happy to find a non-hotel place with a private hot tub. Finding the house late at night wasn't all that difficult but you get a nice taste of Colorado driving going up the switchbacks. The property is located just outside of Estes Park. It's only about 10-15 minutes to get in to town and most of that is just getting down off of the hill and out of the Windcliff subdivision. We ended up leaving each morning and not returning until later at night partly because we had fun stuff to do each day (went hiking, shopped in town, drove the Trail Ridge Road) and partly because the drive to the house was a mild deterrent against making little trips back during the day. However, don't let that scare you off since the plus side of the house being where it's at is the amazing views you get right out of your bedroom and living room windows. The kitchen was well stocked with basic provisions and we made breakfast one morning, but other than that we ate out for our other meals. If you want to save some money I'd recommend buying food from the market or Safe Way in town so you can prepare your own meals, but go to the house first so you don't buy anything they might already have (previous guests leave non-perishables). The hot tub was awesome, a great way to relax each night. We also used the fireplace and it was nice that there were starter logs, newspaper and chopped firewood all available for us. Just make sure the damper is open (whoops). The house felt secluded and private even though you could have neighbors right next door, we barely saw any of them the entire weekend. Overall 5 stars and I'd highly recommend Windcliff to family and friends.

Jupiter, FlWonderful view
Left on 09/12/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Kinney house. The house was comfortably furnished with a well equipped kitchen, good home theatre system and other nice touches. The views from the living room are spectacular and the hot tub was a pleasure after hiking.
That said, prospective renters should be aware of a few issues. When calling to rent the house, I expressed 2 needs.
First, I needed a house that was guaranteed pet-free as my daughter is highly allergic to animals. I was assured that this was the case. When we arrived, we found dog leashes prominently displayed and my daughter soon had her typical reaction to pet dander, especially in the living room. I think the management needs to take this issue more seriously, as it affects the health of some tenants. This did not ruin our vacation, but it certainly detracted from it. Renters deserve honest and accurate information where health is concerned.
Second, I requested a house with a large deck facing the mountain view and was told this house was a good choice. In fact the deck is small and is to the side of the house, not facing the view. This was a smaller issue, but still we felt that we were not accurately and honestly informed.
However, this is a lovely, well- kept home and we had a great week. When my husband later discovered he left something behind, the staff were helpful at retrieving it. All in all, a wonderful place to stay. -

Austin, Texas, United StatesComfortable home with great location and views
Left on 07/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We stayed in this home over the week of July 4. The location is wonderful -- right across the street from the Ymca and just a few miles from the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. We had spectacular views of the park from the living room, the master bedroom, and the deck.
The Kinney is very comfortable. For the evenings, there is a big TV, a big collection of Dvds and books, and a nice hot tub. The kitchen and bathrooms are a little dated, but fully functional. The Kinney is one side of a duplex. You could hear the people in the other side of the duplex from the master bathroom, but not in any other rooms in the house.
A big benefit of staying at the Kinney was that the rest of the extended family with us on the trip were able to rent another duplex right across the street. Also, the management company was very easy to deal with and very helpful.
We would definitely recommend the Kinney to friends and faily. -

San Francisco, CAExcellent stay w/ friends and each of our babies
Left on 10/19/2011 for a stay in October 2011
The view was amazing. The drive was a little far to get on and off the Windcliff property, but the view made it worth it. The house itself was perfect. We were there with one other couple and each of us had a 1 yr old baby. Windcliff provided pack & play cribs and high chairs for free, which saved us a lot of trouble. The two level layout was good for separating the baby "noises" in the middle of the night.
The only problem w/ the place was the hot tub. While extremely relaxing and convenient, the chlorine smell was off the charts. If you turned the bubbles on, you would cough for 5 minutes from breathing in the fumes. Your skin would even be itchy if you didn't shower immediately. The house even requests that you add additional chemical after every use, which is absurd. This is definitely not a reason to not stay at the house, but be warned if you're excited about using the hot tub. Whoever handles the water treatment has to dial it back 8 notches. I recall reading reviews mentioning this and I didn't think much of it, but it certainly is an issue they could easily correct. You expect some chlorine smell w/ any hot tub, but this one was much higher than normal. Like I said, everything else w/ the house was great. Only drawback was the chemical levels in the hot tub. All that being said, we would love to return here someday. I would love to return in the summer so we can enjoy the great outdoor deck and seating. -

The home and location were fantastic. The split logs for the fireplace were an unexpected bonus and delighted my family. Well equipped, clean, amazing assortment of media. Nice touch to add the personal toiletries. Did not expect the steep, winding road- which petrified my sister- but my son (who lives in Denver) was easily able to manage. The outstanding views made the drive well worth it.

This property has a beautiful view of the mountains and is right next to a hiking trail in Rmnp. The house itself was very accomodating w/ lots of room. Interior is a bit dated and could use a little updating. We enjoyed our stay very much and would highly recommend the property or any others offered thru Windcliff, the staff was excellent and super to work with.

We enjoyed our stay at the Kinney. The home is high on the side of a mountain. The roads are well maintained, and it's a easy drive. The home is beautiful, and has all the extras you could want. The view out the living room picture window in breathtaking -- from the moment you walk in. It's less than 10 mins from town, allowing for the trip down the mountain. We appreciated the home theatre system, the comfortable furnishings, and the free long distance (since the cell phones don't work). Thanks so much for a wonderful stay. We can't wait to come back.

Thank you for your review. The Kinney home consistently gets 5 star reviews and we will re-inventory the kitchen for any missing items. Left on 07/13/2011 for a stay in July 2011
We stayed at the Kinney seven nights for a family vacation/reunion the first week of July. When we arrived the place was immaculately clean and had some basic toiletries in the bathrooms. We were a family of 5 plus had some extra guests for the weekend. Plenty of room. There was an extensive library of videos to watch and books to read, though we only stayed still one night and watched movies. The setting was beautiful, great views and access to walks on trails. We saw lots of wildlife on the property and saw plenty of stars at night. The place was pricy, but it is hard to find comfy lodging for a large family for a full week, so in the end it was worth it.

Left on 09/27/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We had a delightful stay at our Windcliff rental, as always. The staff is so courteous & helpful. This house provided a very restful stay away from work & other normal life headaches. It was close to a hiking path right into the national park area. We saw a deer right next to the hot tub at dusk one evening, she even posed for a few pictures. The hot tub was a great luxury after a day of hiking. We do almost all of our cooking at home, so the kitchen and the grill were well utilized. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking almost anything. The house was roomy, and we loved the view of the mountains. Even though the deck faces the road, there is very little traffic, so the feeling of seclusion was not lost. There was plenty of room for more people, but we did this trip on our own. Looks like this would be a great family gathering home. The master bedroom had a very good bed (mattress). The master bathroom was fabulous. There is an oversize tub, and two sinks, and loads of counter and cabinet space. I loved it. The decor of the house is just what you would expect at a lovely mountain retreat.

St. Louis, MOBeautiful location
Left on 08/27/2010 for a stay in August 2010
The views from the Kinney, like I assume all Windcliff properties, were stunning. The living room is by far the nicest room. I could have spent all vacation looking at the view from that room.
I found some of the decor to be rather dated, but that could just come down to personal taste.
The hot tub was extremely over-chlorinated; when we turned on the bubbles, it caused us all to keep coughing. We had to turn them off, or it was unbearable to sit in. The instructions are telling people to add chlorine with each stay, but that could be the problem. Perhaps the Windcliff staff should monitor the chlorine levels, rather than having guests add chlorine with each visit. Also the location of the hot tub (under the deck) is not that appealing, as views are obstructed by large support beams and the house itself.
The wireless internet service was unusable throughout our stay. When we notified the office, they were prompt in providing us two ethernet cables, but they should probably look into resolving that issue. Having wireless access is an amenity we look for when choosing a vacation rental/hotel. -

We stayed at Murphy and Kinney. It was our Mother's 90th birthday and we scored points with her !!! She was thrilled with the whole event. We could not have stayed at a more perfect location. Dare I say we did not want to leave. She was born in Denver and took her first picnic in Estes so the location was ideal. Murphy and Kinney were spectacular all around. Location and comfort scored high with us. Would we do this again--absolutely.

Left on 07/28/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We love the Windcliff properties and we have now come back multiple times. The quality of the properties are excellent and it is a great way to visit Estes Park and costs about the same as comparable hotel options, but with greater space, features, privacy and views. We stayed at the house, which was a house we visited previously. The house now has upgraded large flat screen TV, which was a nice little upgrade. Only negative was that we had a late arrival, after the office was closed and, while our paperwork was waiting for us, there was no key. It took some time to get the on-call help to get us in the property. That said, we were quite impressed that the Windcliff staff offered us a wonderful gesture for our trouble and paid for us to enjoy a dinner on them. That was another example of how the staff works hard to make sure your stay is a positive one.

Perhaps I missed that information but I would think you may want to make that perfectly clear so others don't have the same distasteful experience. Thank You M.W. MIles

Left on 11/05/2009 for a stay in October 2009
We spent 4 days at the Kinney home and had a great time. Our son and his family live in Denver and we in Florida. We wanted a get away in the mountains and thought October would be the perfect time with the leaves changing and cooler weather. We were not prepared for the 4 inches of snow that fell, but loved the chrisp air, the pure white snow that covered the trees and lawn, and the feeling that we were in a winter wonderland. The house couldn't have been better. A roaring fire in the fireplace, all the comforts of home and more, very child friendly and lots of room to spread out, kick back and enjoy. Which we did. The view from all the windows in the home was spectacular and the wildlife wandering the roads was fun to see. The elk up on the mountain behind the house, the deer eating along side the road on our way down, and birds and other wildlife made for a great vacation. Will highly recommend Windcliff to our friends and family as the office staff was great, the roads were kept open despite the snow, the homes and area well cared for, and the views-priceless.

We have stayed at the Schroeder house before and the Kinney is just across the street so it has the same magnificent views. This house was perfect for our little family gathering of 8 people from 5 to 90! We kept the fireplace roaring and the dining table full. The hot tub was a pleasure at night and we heard the elk bugling while sitting in it. How spectacular is that! We couldn't find a remote control for the garage but we didn't ask and weren't really bothered by that. The weather didn't cooperate too much this year but it's still our favorite place and try as I might, I have not found better accomodations than are offered by Windcliff properties.

The wildlife was plentiful and we were most surprised when a coyote walked right across our path. Beautiful homes and secluded. Andrew was very helpful in making the reservation and it was easy to check in and out. We took an elderly person with us and this was a great place to 'hang out'. Would recommend this if you need the space. Good value compared to the condo's we checked on.

My wife and I, along with our grown son and his friend, spent a week
here in the fall last year. It's a comfortable place with a wonderful view
of the mountains, a fire place, good seating and adequate bedrooms
and kitchen. The drive up to the place from the main road is a bit of an
adventure for a flat-lander, but really just adds to the adventure. We
saw deer about half the time we were driving the 10 minutes of dirt
road. There are a number of good day hikes and beautiful drives in
the area and we found a few good restaurants, made even better by
the hikes. Over all, we had a good time and felt the cost was about
right. If it's in your price range, we recommend it. You'll enjoy it. -

There were seven family members sharing this vacation. The property managment personnel were so very friendly and helpful. The location was terrific - we were able to hike without leaving the alotment and has some specatcular views. We had wildlife in our yard and on the road in the morning. We sat outside at night and the stars and constellations seemed like you could reach out and touch them, but reminded us how small we are compared to the universe. The house was decorated very confortably and had all the comforts of home; plus some we don't have. We were so glad that we were able to bring out fox terrior, Max, with us. We were able to sit outside on the deck and enjoy each others company. We would like to say thanks so much for the vacation and vacation home. I have passed on your website to people who are wanting to vacation in Estes Park and had no ideas about house rentals. If the distance was not so great and finances not in the pickle they are; we would make Windcliff as regular vacation.

We had a good time in this property.
After we left we have been asked to pay additional price for cleaning.
The management company was not happy with dishes which we left in a sink and a few blankets which were dropped on the flor.
We have payed 100$ cleaning fee as part of our agreement before the rental and were surprised to hear about additinal fee.
If you rent this property you need to be aware that you have to clean the house exactly the way as you have enetered.
The money you pay for cleaning are just to put clean shits on the bed.
In this case, staying in a hotel might save you the trobble.
