Additional Location Information
Exmoor really has something for everyone, it is a place full of contrasts; dramatic coastlines of plunging cliffs, sheltered bays and historic ports, wide open space and wilderness of the moors as well as the wooded valleys with quiet trails for you to enjoy. Exmoor is a holiday destination of unrivaled beauty and interest.
Dunster has been essentially preserved in time as a relic of the 600-year age when both the town and castle were owned by the Luttrell family. These days the town practically breathes history, from the turrets and towers of the originally Norman castle to the octagonal yarn market that is a throwback to the town’s 1700s heyday, when it was most renowned for its production of wool and particular cloth named “Dunster's”.
Today Dunster is a bustling village comprised of several restaurants, pubs and tea rooms, plus a varied range of independent shops.
Minehead is the nearest town, approximately 1.5 miles from Grooms Cottage. Here you will find the larger supermarkets, petrol stations, banks, plus a range of other shops throughout the town. A tourist information centre is situated on the seafront at Minehead.

Bristol, United KingdomExcellant venue- Lovely village setting
Left on 01/07/2013 for a stay in January 2013
A very comfortable cottage with excellant amenities in the lovely village of Dunster, what more could one ask for. Stayed here for 3 nights with 5 friends and would definately recommend this to others. Cottage is beautifully fitted out and very central to the shops, restuarants and pubs. Dunster beach is within a 30min walk. The only issue we had was the weather but that did not stop us from having a lovely time in a lovely cottage.

Lincoln, United KingdomA very well 'groomed cottage'
Left on 11/29/2012 for a stay in November 2012
Groom's Cottage is probably the best holiday cottage I've stayed in. Dusnter is a magnificent 'olde worlde' village anyway, just a couple of miles from Minehead, and with Groom's Cottage'visitors experience. Easy to book via the Best Of Exmoor website, and with Cliff as owner and Chris as agent, a smooth booking was as pleasurable a booking experience as you can possibly get.
The cottage - just magnificent. Deceptively spacious. It's an 'upstairs is downstairs property', kitchen lounge and dining room upstairs, with all modern facilities/furnishings but in full keeping with a character cottage. Downstairs are the 3 spacious bedrooms (two doubles, one en-suite) and a twin with a family bathroom with corner bath and shower over - all again to a very high specification finish throughout - utilities/storage etc.
Private parking space for 3 cars to the side of the property is a real bonus too.
Just a very short walk past the Luttrel arms Hotel into the magnificent village of Dunster, with its part cobbled streets, Yarn Market, tempting tea shops, cafes, art shops and eateries and pubs, and the dominant National Trust Castle overlooking the splendid village.
Porlock, Doone Valley, Lynton Lynmouth, Exmoor and the West Somerset Railway are all easily accessible from Dunster.
Winter short breaks ar summer weekly bookings are available and highly advisable.
