A bit off the beaten track but a wonderfully comfortable cottage

Spacious, well equipped and very comfortable. Dog friendly with its own garden (fully fenced so safe for dog to play in). Owners very friendly and helpful. Many excellent eating establishments within a short drive but because of the excellent cooking facilities at the cottage we did most of our own catering.
Such a good time

Spacious rooms in a lovely cottage - the view from the back windows is full of beauty and wild-life. Inside, the cottage has enough of everything. we enjoyed the geese in the yard. There are so many places to visit and enjoy - Eye is elegant. Stowmarket's Museum of East anglian life is well done. Diss - go on market day, Friday, : there's a good street market: and the auction market, just five minutes walk away from the centre, is quite wonderful. Bury St Edmunds and Southwold good day excursions, and very different from each other. The best discovery were the windmill and watermill at Packenham. The wonderful weather helped. But we would have enjoyed it enormously whatever the weather. We like to be off the beaten track, and we know when we are near our destination when there's grass in the middle of the road. Lovely walks too but we were not able to walk any distances because of our knees.
An Ordnance Survey Map will enhance your enjoyment.

Well presented, large & very clean cottage. The owners were friendly but left us to get on with our holiday. There were quite a few eating places within a short drive & the food was of a high standard.we did quite a lot of touring & the cottage was central to where we wanted to visit. Highlight of the hol was woodpeckers feeding on the bird feeder.

The Bothy is a little gem. Cheaper than many smaller, less well appointed or advantageously located properties. The welcome was warm, the hosts next door unobtrusive, and the various pets and farm yard neighbours a delight in this rural setting.Likes of Southwold, Ely and Bury St Edmunds all within an hour drive. Eye village is also well worth a visit.

We thought the Bothy was absolutely ideal for our type of holiday. There are plenty of walks and cycle rides and after a day of this it was lovely to come back to this lovely, well-equipped cottage.
When everything is provided like this it is so easy to relax at the end of the day

The Bothy was lovely - the only thing that may have slightly marred our break was the weather. There had been a lot of rain prior to us visiting and most of the local footpaths were rather boggy. The village shop doesn't sell much and the nearest pub is the other side of a busy main road. But there is a nice shop next to a pub in the next village which is easily walkable (didn't try the pub but it looked nice). The cottage has everything you could need. One perhaps slight disadvantage, is the fact that the back garden is accessed through the lounge and not the kitchen, so you need to make sure your dog doesn't trek mud in!! Overall, a very nice cottage, in the countryside - ideal for a relaxing walking break.
Fit for purpose

Have now stayed here twice and may well return. As a base for visiting friends in Norfolk and Suffolk, and also for house-hunting in the area, it's ideal. It's plain and unpretentious, but has everything one needs for a very comfortable stay.
Wonderful, Relaxing and Peaceful experience

We had a late break looking to have a relaxing time to relieve some stress. Worked a treat. Owners were great and left us alone to do what we wanted. Found plenty of intereting places to visit. Within an hour of the coast. Several nice places to eat when you did not want to cook.

A very comfortable holiday stay in a beautiful location. Suffolk has so much to offer from 'chocolate box villages' to the fun of the seaside. Our dogs loved the Bothy as much as us. We will certainly be going back.

Very nice country place on working farm. Owners very friendly and helpful. Excellent place to stay for bird watching, walking and scenery. Not a good place for night life but for us it was perfect. Best coastal resort was Southwold. All the Suffolk towns like Bury St Edmunds are very interesting places. We had a really lovely week. Throw some spare bread crumbs into the farm pond. You will be amazed at the number of fish.

Clean, warm, well-equipped, deceptively spacious cottage with friendly owners next door. Situated on a working farm with fabulous open aspect to the rear. Dog friendly, with enclosed rear garden area; good outdoor space for sitting and eating, or just relaxing. Wildlife spotting a bonus. Well situated for touring Suffolk. Beautiful small towns and villages around with good road networking. Bonus late holiday, loads of fruit ripe for picking in the garden.

The cottage is in a wonderful location, spotless, warm and spacious and with everything you could need for a relaxing holiday. Eye itself is a lovely town and the shopkeepers are so friendly we actually bought quite a few Christmas presents whilst we were there in October. The location of the cottage means it is easy to travel around Suffolk using quiet lanes and there were wonderful walks for our dogs. We visited many National Trust properties in the area, and love the nearby town of Framlingham. Our only minor comment about the property was the poor shower facilities, but this was far outweighed by the standard and quality of the accommodation.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Bothy, it is spacious but cosy. It is in a lovely spot right in the countryside away from the busy roads and traffic but convenient for touring. We were made very welcome by the owners.

This is a very well maintained and equipped cottage with a very friendly owner. It is situated in a farmyard down a long farm track, which is very good if you want to get away from the crowds, but is next door to the owner's home. We left a day before our booked departure date - purely because heavy snow was forecast for the next day and we didn't fancy being snowed in on our way home - you cannot blame the owner for the weather !
The location is such that you can travel to many different towns and coastal resorts, all within an hour's journey.
