First class holiday cottage. The cottage interior was 5 star with all white goods including dishwasher.2 miles from Eyemouth and 6 miles from Berwick upon Tweed. Great for the two dogs with small enclosed garden opposite. We will be back and would recommend to all. Teresa and Douglas - Paisley.

Left on 09/10/2012 for a stay in June 2012
This cottage was comfortable well equipped and the location for touring the area. If the weather had been better we could have enjoyed the lovely peaceful garden with the many games provided. The best thing was the comfort and the peace, and the worst the torrential rain nothing to do with cottage would love to go again.

Excellent cottage, slightly of the beaten track but easily accessible. The cottage was beauifully firnished and exceptionally well equipped. Really comfortable with both gas central heating and a lovely real fire in the lounge. Downstairs large bathroom with corner bath and upstairs just outside the bedrooms a shower room. Pet friendly (even equipped with dog dishes - although we brought our own. Will definately recommend and we intend to return again. With in easy travelling distance of Eyemouth, Berwick on Tweed and the borders.

The service received was excellent - we had no problem in finding the cottage from the instructions given and the cottage was clean and well presented. The lovely downstairs bathroom was a bonus as I am 6'3" and found the upstairs showerroom a bit small for me with a low door and ceiling - Mrs Wade had no such problems. The lounge was very comfortable and well appointed. Although we did not use the garden due to the time of year we can see that it is a useful asset in summer and the roadway between the cottage and the garden is no real problem. The long drive to the cottage was a distinct asset for dog walking first thing and late at night.
The location was excellent for touring the East Coast and inland, but the loss of the pub was disappointing. However, the local villages (especially auchencrow with the Craw Inn) made up for this - highly recommended!
I was not too keen on the stairs and feel a better bannister could be provided and, in my opinion, the second lounge downstairs would be better utilised as a third bedroom, particularly for the less mobile - I have had two hip replacements and found the stairs a little awkward.
Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend ayton Mill Cottage to friends.

TamworthWhat happened to the pub?
Left on 06/05/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Booked this cottage for a week and whilst we had been warned about the rubble on the driveway it was still a shock - something to do with a building that needed demolishing as it was unsafe and not being able to get a JCB in due to the cottage being occupied. , It had according to the advert, a pub 4 minutes walk away and we were looking forward to meeting some locals, we were quite surprised to discover that the pub had closed 18 months previously, and the local shop very rarely opened. The cotttage was well equipped although a good dusting wouldn't go amiss. The stairs don't have a handrail and are quite steep and the property is not disabled friendly, with uneven flooring and raised internal doorbars. It had the feeling of being a work in progress, with missing lightbulbs. windows that you couldn't open, light switches that we never did discover what they did and enough stinging nettles around the garden that it made using it a hazardous experience. Luckily the rabbits in the garden kept the grass down but they failed miserably in places. There is a garage workshop next door and whilst not noisy you do have cars driving right outside your living room window ususally late at night. All in all well equipped but in need of some work both internal and external

The cottage was very well decorated and furnished, very cosy and warm. The location was excellent Edinburgh is an amazing city and was only a short drive away. Many of the attractions unfortunately didnt open until april, but this didnt detract from the holiday there was still plenty to do.

Had an amazing Christmas with family not far away. Wonderful cottage, small touches of the Xmas tree and tableware were very much appreciated. Sky HD+ was a bonus, as was the cosy real fire.

Left on 01/04/2011 for a stay in November 2010
Really liked the level of home comforts in this property and appreciated the secure garden for my two dogs.
The damp ground floor bathroom could put you off but the upstairs shower room and general level of the fittings and fixtures in the rest of the accomodation more than made up for it.
The driveway immediately in front and between the house and garden could have been a negative but fortunately did not give any problems on this visit. -

Left on 11/14/2010 for a stay in August 2010
This was a very comfortable and well appointed cottage. The immediate surroundings (adjacent builders yard) initially made us wonder if we had made the right choice, however we couldn't fault it inside and it was an excellent location for exploring this part of the Scottish Borders.
