Description from the owner
Casa Meravigliosa is a 15th Century townhouse with 3 terraces, 2 patios and a garden in which to enjoy for languid alfresco meals or simply to relax and breathe in the impossibly picturesque view. Although centrally located in a friendly hilltop hamlet and just steps away from a superlative butcher, baker and "casalinga" local restaurant, Casa Meravigliosa feels like it is in the middle of a nature preserve: the entire rear of the house overlooks the most spectacular unspoiled farmland and countryside.
The house was renovated in 2011, resulting in three floors of warmth, taste and beauty.

Additional Location Information
Most people who have visited Italy talk of Tuscany, now you must discover the beauty of Umbria just across the border with its rolling hills and ancient towns. It seems to be the Vegetable Garden of Italy with its fantastically rich alluvial soil and agriculture. Fabro is well known for being a "White Truffle" area and the locals are very secretive of where they are found. The vineyards are excellent for both red and white wines, Todi and Orvieto for their white wines and the famous Sagrantino grape grown in the Montefalco area. The olive oil is also very delicious and is famous in Umbria for its delicate smooth and peppery taste.Rome: 1 hr, Florence 1.5; minutes to Orvieto, thermal spas, wineries, shops, restaurants, nature. Sophisticated but charming and comfortable home from which to explore Tuscany and Umbria.

Washington DC, District of ColumbiaI cannot imagine a lovelier place to spend a vacation.
Left on 05/03/2013 for a stay in July 2012
The home is charming and perfectly decorated with a kitchen that is better outfitted than my own, incredible views and an eclectic selection of art. I had a difficult time leaving it every day to tour around the countryside. It is also perfectly situated, both within the town and within the area: a restaurant, bar and grocery are a stone's throw away from the front door and the a1 is 3 minutes away. And, Anna, the house manager is a joy.

LondonPossibly our favourite holiday rental ever
Left on 03/25/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We (me, my wife, our 2 year old) stayed at Casa Meravigliosa for a week over Christmas. We loved it.
The kitchen is really snug, and the fire at waist level is a treat. The sound system is great if you bring an ipod with you - and there's a little sofa at the end of the dining table for films on the laptop at the end of the day. And amazing views from the French windows as you cook!
Upstairs, both bedrooms are wonderful - we chose the top one with the bath, but the first floor one was so inviting that we seriously considered switching to it for a night or two. And the first floor sitting room is gorgeous with its little wood stove - one of the nicest rooms for reading in that I can recall finding.
Above all, we loved the feel of the place - it's like borrowing someone's house, as opposed to the much more anonymous feel of so many other holiday lets. And it was superb value: the place we rented for the following week was way more expensive, but we didn't like it anywhere near as much! -

Casa Meravigliosa is what you dream about when you think of a place to stay in Umbria. From the breath taking views overlooking the valley to the charm of the small town of Fabro this house has it all. You could spend hours just watching the townspeople go about their daily lives and envy them for having such a beautiful place to live.
You feel the warmth of a loving family who have history in this house and you wish you could be there during one of their family gathering as you can imagine the laughter and good conversation that fills this place.
This place is beyond wonderful and we can't wait to go back... -

I stayed one week in this very charming house. Modern facilities (two bathrooms) Comfortable bedrooms. Everything about the house reflects the happy personality of the owner. Situated in a typical Umbrian village high up on a hill with spectacular views from the balconies at the back of the house.
Also, the surrounding countryside provides a variety of restaurants with excellent Italian food from the region.

Oxfordcharming house with wonderful views..
Left on 05/29/2012 for a stay in April 2012
I stayed in Casa Merravigliosa in april and had the most wonderful week. The house itself is in the most perfect Italian setting, overlooking the medieval street of Fabro on one side of the house and the rolling Tuscan hills on the other. There are many beautiful towns nearby, including Monte Lione which has an amazing pizza restaurant (4km away) and Orvieto (only a 20 min drive). All of these medieval towns have their own character, yet Fabro's appeal comes from the charm of the community itself, such warm and friendly people. The house has many lovely features, my favourite is the open bath in the master bedroom which faces the hills- a perfect way to watch the sun set whilst soaking in the tub and listening to the church bells.. it's simply magic

Parisfeeling at home, in a dream!
Left on 05/28/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This is one of those 'Le Grande Meaulnes' places, that you search in dreams and can't quite believe really existed, and you really did spend some nights there sleeping in a grande Italian bed and you remember eating croissants overlooking a painter's landscape... but how to find it again?
But it is real, and so are the fresh grapes and locally grown vegetables that anna's neighbour generously gave us.
Casa Mervagliosa lives up to its name and we will return to inhabit the landscape and dream. -

LondonTown house for me!
Left on 05/28/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This place is magical, comfortable, delightful and very accessible ! The area is tremendous with lots of busy markets to go to, mountains to go up and ancient towns to wonder around for hours. Fabro is too a very special little town and I was continuously impressed with the amenities in Fabro and Fabro Scala. The station being so close meant my friends and I could nip down to Rome for lunch without any bother. If anyone is a foodie or wino, this is a great base to have, or if you just like to rest under the Umbrian Sun the large garden is beginning to take shape and will be perfect by the summer.

LondonA romantic hideaway in the heart of real Italy
Left on 05/26/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Fabro is a little jewel of a hilltop town, with its own beetling castle, quaint restaurant, cafés for the perfect morning cappuccino or sunset aperitivo, grocer's shop and views of bucolic idyll in all directions. What it does not have, is gaggle of tourists - surprising, since it is well placed for transport to most of the art-filled renaissance palazzi and cities that you might want to visit. In short Fabro is small, cute, friendly and an ideal base from which to explore.
Good reasons to go there. On top of all this, Anna's little central self-catering house is a delicious hideaway, awash with quirky romance - paintings, ceramics, glittering Venetian mirrors. She is a chef, and her convivial kitchen/diner with a balcony view of rustic valley, olive trees and sunset would strike inspiration in the heart of the most pragmatic cook. The middle floor bedroom has its own cool, contemporary bathroom, and is light and airy with a balcony view of the quiet village street. The seductive master bedroom is a triumph, with an antique carved wooden bed (?) and a freestanding Victorian ball and claw bath in which you can sip your glass of Prosecco while enjoying a view to make you swoon. This is not your average conventional agriturismo - but anyone with a soul will have the holiday of a lifetime, and collect memories to treasure in this bijou dream-house.
Liked best: the house and village; least: leaving

Shropshire EnglandUnique, artistic home, breathtaking views, and supremely comfort

Casa Meravigliosa is indeed just that,a unique house in a marvellous unspoilt hilltop Historic village, which boasts a castle, traditional trattoria, two bars,a general store, hairdresser, church and newsagent. We found that the village provided for all our needs, and some lovely walks in the interesting and unusual countryside. We visited Orvieto and Lake Trasemeno, and took the train to Rome and Florence.
Anna house was truly a "home from home", but with a very special atmosphere, and a wonderful kitchen!.We loved watching the lovely skies, and sunsets behind Mount Cetona.
We were lucky to be in Fabro for the food festival, a very high class affair specialising in Tartufo, cheeses, cured meats and very interesting foods from all over Italy. There was even a orchestra from Perugia, playing in the little church, with the doors flung wide open, a great experience.
We are very interested in arts and cultural events, and anna's house was an ideal centre from which to travel to things which we enjoy.
We loved our stay in anna's house, which was comfortable and full of interesting paintings from her family background. Even though it was a cold late autumn, the central heating ensured our comfort,(and I do feel the cold!)and was admirably enhanced by a deliciously fragrant open fire in the traditional "camino".
Besides staying at the house, we have also visited the house in the summer, and even when the temperature was very high outside, because of its position, we found the interior very comfortable.
We do not think that there is anything which we could criticise, It was a very lovely place to be! -

We stayed in this lovely townhouse for a glorious week. The views from the balconies were absolute heaven! You can tell it's the kitchen of a chef - professional stove, the lovely kitchen table, all the kitchen wear - just perfect when bringing home the fresh goods from the markets and making your own delicious dinner! The location was wonderful with Orvieto close by and with what I consider the best of Toscana within easy reach. Definitely a place I want to come back to!!

Left on 05/18/2012 for a stay in April 2012
This house was recommended to me by a friend, as my girlfriend and I were looking for something a little different to your usual Umbrian/Tuscan villa. Since there were only two of us, this seemed the perfect place to spend a week in our favourite part of Italy. We had a fabulous time staying here; the house was beautifully decorated, and had the most wonderful views over the Umbrian hills.
Fabro itself is a very traditional Italian hilltop town, and we were only a short drive away from some amazing sights. The area is a foodie's heaven, with some great restaurants and markets, and at the right time of year I am told you can also hunt truffles in the area.
All in all a great place to stay. If you do go here, you have to try the local Taverna, where they serve the most delicious truffle pasta and only for a few Euros. -

Left on 05/03/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Simply beautiful, I stayed here with a few friends over the Easter period and felt right at home! The owner, Anna, cooked us dinner one night where we sat by the fire under the chandelier while she talked us through so charasimatically what we were about to enjoy (helping along the way, of course)! Anna has restored the house authentically but also completely full of luxury. We could not believe the views, which you can see from 2 of the 4 balconies and our photos really can't do it justice, we will just have to go back there instead! The location is perfect, Fabro has all the amenities and is ideal for exploring the historical sights, markets, hot springs and lots more further afield (day trip to Florence was under an hour away!).
