My bridesmaids stayed in this cabin, and it was a beautiful place!! We also got ready for our wedding in Peaceful Horizons, and it provided us with beautiful scenery and decor for my professional photos! I couldn't have asked for a more picturesque wedding!!!

We rented this cabin along with others as part of our wedding weekend. The cabin was everything we had wanted with plenty of space, comfortable furniture and great views from every direction. We will definately come back to stay here again!

No plans, and that's just fine!

Left on 05/28/2012 for a stay in April 2012

We arrived at Peaceful Horizons with plans to do all kinds of activities in the mountains, but the house was so nice and quiet that we chose to stay there to relax instead. Although we did take one horseback ride, which was a great way to see the nature of the mountain, we mostly sat on the back porch with its beautiful view, walked around in the woods to enjoy the wildlife, grilled out, and relaxed by the fire. The kids enjoyed playing ping pong in the game room and splashing around in the jacuzzi. Perfect getaway vacation.

      Fantastic Vacation Home

Left on 05/02/2012 for a stay in April 2012

This home is actually near Ferguson, NC not Boone.

The cabin was extremely clean and neat. Awesome design and 3 large levels. We particularly enjoyed the large screened-in porch and large hot-tub. The home was 3 levels. Even a 2 car garage. Very nice private road, with only 3 other homes. So far, this is the nicest place we have stayed at in Leatherwood.

Have a few suggestions . Have been going to Leatherwod for several years adn the riding was much better when you could access the other side on the road to include Ravens Rock and the water fall. Need to secure acess again .

Wonderful mountain retreat in a horse friendly environment.

Left on 12/01/2010 for a stay in November 2010

We enjoyed a wonderful weekend, celebrating my wife's birthday, in the beautiful mountains at Leatherwood. The cabin the staff recommended was exceptional in it's appointments and comforts. Our four children, ages 12-16, were thoroughly entertained and relaxed. My wife and daughter enjoyed some time at the stables and a long trail ride while the boys and I hiked in the woods. The wildlife we saw, from the moment we arrived, included deer and turkey. We will be back soon, possibly to look at property.

      Good Times!

Left on 11/04/2010 for a stay in October 2010

We looked at ten or twelve houses and several other locations before deciding on this one. The house is the best engineered, best built, best equipped, with top of the line appliances, and was immaculately clean. On the down side, it was expensive, the stereo/cd player/intercom didn't work, the garage was unusable, and the pool table is too close to the wall to use. Still, we had a wonderful time and would (probably will) go back. The gas fireplace is beautiful, and all the heat we needed. The beds are very comfortable. Plenty of room for three couples to enjoy privacy or fellowship. Great views of Grandfather, Parkway, and gorgeous sunsets. There was a full moon too! Hot tub worked well, no (advertized) hammock. Wish I'd taken my leaf blower, as it haddn't been done before arrival and we tracked leaf resedue into the house that we had to clean up.

      Wonderful! Beautiful! Memorable!

Left on 10/14/2010 for a stay in September 2010

We visited Leatherwoods for our daughter's wedding. I cannot express my gratitude to the staff for making it a smooth, effortless, memorable weekend! We did all the planning long distance, working with the wedding coordinator and we could not have been more pleased. All three cabins we rented were beautiful, spacious, well appointed and unique with great views but the staff made the wedding a success. They accommodated last minute changes and made great recommendations for vendors in the area. Thank you. I would definitely visit again.

      Fabulous Treehouse

Left on 08/06/2010 for a stay in July 2010

What a great house for an extended family to stay in. We loved the big dining table where we could all sit and visit. The bathrooms, bedrooms, kitchen etc were great. Anything we needed in the kitchen, we found . The view is magnificent, and as my brother said, looking out at the top of trees made you feel like you were in a wonderful treehouse. The decks were great for viisting. Would gladly return.

      Fabulous Experience

Left on 07/21/2010 for a stay in June 2010

We all loved it! Beautiful house, view and grounds. Everyone who worked there was friendly, helpful and gracious. We would all be happy to come back again and recommend Leatherwood Mts. to others.
      That said, my criticisms are:
lack of restaurant dinner option on the grounds, no hammock although the website said there would be one, the TV was too hard to use, and most of us (3 out of 4 adults) were uncomfortable with the religious icon in Peaceful Horizons. We think it should be religion-neutral.

      Daughter's wedding at Leatherwood.

Left on 06/09/2010 for a stay in June 2010

The Waddell Family was at Leatherwood for our daughter's wedding and we were very pleased with the service and accommodations at Leatherwood! When we checked in at Leatherwood we received the welcome you would receive while visiting relatives. At check-in, we received information that gave us all we needed to know about Leatherwood leaving us not wanting for anything.

The home "Peaceful Horizon" was absolutely outstanding and we plan to comeback to Leatherwood for additional visits. The home and landscape was clean and well maintained. We found Leatherwood to be one of the best kept secrets in Wilkes County and northwestern North Carolina. Our wedding guests found Leatherwood to have many activities to get involved with from horseback riding, hiking, fishing or just watching nature. Facilities, housing and landscape was well maintained and wildlife was unlimited.

The staff at Leatherwood are the best! They all had the can do attitude and did anything within reason to make our stay pleasureable.

The Waddell Family plan on coming back to Leatherwood during upcoming holidays and vacations.

Happy New Year - Peaceful Horizons

Left on 01/14/2010 for a stay in December 2009

We've been staying at Leatherwood Mountains for New Year's for the past 8 years, and usually at different mountain homes, but Peaceful Horizons was truly the best. The owners of Peaceful Horizons didn't miss a beat on amenities, floor layout, and a real "home feel".

We love Leatherwood, and now we love Peaceful Horizons.

      FABULOUS!!

Left on 01/06/2010 for a stay in December 2009

Peaceful Horizons is a fabulous house. It has everything you would ever need or want. We had 2 feet of snow so it was more beautiful plus an ice storm. The generators never missed a beat-an unexpected luxury! The view is spectacular with wonderful trails to hike or just sit on the porch and enjoy the peace! The staff at Leatherwood is wonderful. They kept us updated on the storms, calling the house to let us know the latest weather. What ever you needed they were there to help. The workers at the restaurant and the horse stables were friendly and just great to be around.

      PERFECT

Left on 11/05/2009 for a stay in October 2009

We were married at the Hidden Falls home on 10/31 -perfect home with excellent flow and stunning appointments as well as views! Out party was about 45. Friday night we all gathered at McWhirter Farms for a barbeque! Plenty of room, whether you were playing pool or lounging in the hot tub - Great entertaining home. Our cabin was Creekside - second time there and it just got better - sitting almost in the creek with a bathroom to die for! It was great to just relax in front of the fire and listen to the creek flow. Other homes that were occupied were Peaceful Horizons - the name says it all! Pingpong, pool, hot tub and three totally private bedrooms with private baths. Cloud Nine was perfect for a smaller family - great views and amenities! Horseknoll great for the mother of the bride with her own bath and bedroom - very well appointed. Mourning Dove was great for the large family with a heated pool and outside fireplace.

In closing we could not have ask for a more perfect week-end wedding - go fishing, hiking, horseback riding - what ever works!

Best of all was the location - we had guest from Florida, DC, NY and NC is was a very central and easily accessable!

The only drawback was leaving! Go and enjoy! Kim
