Best View Ever - Cloud Nine!!!

Left on 04/29/2013 for a stay in April 2013

we have spent many vacations and holidays at Leatherwoods and you will not find a more peaceful, wonderful place to rest, unwind and destress! from the check-in to the fabulous cabins, you will not find a better place in the mountains. Cloud Nine is simple but homey and you cannot beat the breathtaking views of the mountains. We love the people who run Leatherwoods also. They make you feel welcome the first time you step in the door. We will definitely be back to Leatherwoods and hope you try it and see what we mean...

I almost want to say 'Don't rent this' because I want it available whenever I want it... don't want the secret to get out to too many people. Leatherwoods is amazing. Got to meet some of the 'staff'- felt more like a reunion with old friends. Horses... awesome. Cloud Nine... unbelievable views, clean, all amenities, hot tub, TV, grill. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay. Just wish I could stay!!!

We've now stayed at Leatherwood on several occasions. The entire process, from making the reservation, check-in, and check out are easy. The homes are always immaculate and equipped. Such a wonderful place for family time. I recommend it highly if you're looking for a vacation just to relax and have quality family time together or it's in close proximity to some great attractions.

A brake from the Parent Caretaker Role! Ahhh!

Left on 05/08/2011 for a stay in April 2011

We had a wonderfull time at Cloud Nine. As a caretaker for a parent with alzheimer's, the time away was a healing time for us to stop and recharge. It felt as if we had dropped off the edge of the earth. The two hour trail ride was splendid and we fully intend to come back again. Cloud Nine was spectacular in all respects. We have already recommended Leatherwwood to many friends and were so that happy that our friends recommended it to us. You will not regret a stay at Leatherwood Mountain Resort!

My husband and I recently visited Leatherwood and stayed in Cloud Nine. What a wonderful experience! The cabin is beautiful and the views were breathtaking. We loved sitting on the deck and enjoying God's creation. Relaxing in the hot tub on the deck overlooking the mountains was awesome. The cabin had everything we needed. The staff at Leatherwood is very friendly and efficient. We will definitely return and will stay in Cloud Nine again.

Awesome Stay With Spectacular Views !

Left on 09/08/2010 for a stay in August 2010

Our stay at Leatherwood and beautiful Cloud Nine was all that our son and daughter-in-law said it would be and so much more. They have stayed at Leatherwood many times and highly recommended it to us. The staff was great and very friendly wanting nothing more than for you to have an enjoyable stay. The cabin was very clean, warm and cozy and makes one feel right at home the minute you come through the door. The kitchen had everything you needed and then some to prepare and serve meals. All you had to do was bring the food and beverages. The views are absolutely spectacular and simply take your breath away. It was so very serene and quiet and the stars at night were magnificent. We will never, ever forget our stay here. It truly was an awesome way to celebrate our "40th" wedding anniversary. Cloud Nine is indeed "a piece of heaven here on earth". We will be back !

      Heaven on Earth

We had a wonderful stay at Cloud Nine. Our family usually goes to the beach during the summer, but this year decided to cool off in the mountains. It was very relaxing and gave us some real down time. We loved the hot tub, horseback riding and went on a canoe trip at the lake outside of Leatherwood. This house has the best view...breathtaking!!

The hardest part about booking at leatherwood mountains was choosing the cabin. When we turned the bend to cloud nine we litterely jumped out of the car and we were like two little chirldren our mouths hit the ground in aww.We rushed out to the deck and stood there gazing at all gods glory. We had a very tough year I had the fight of my life and beat cancer. This vacation at leatherwood made me realize why I had fought so hard and Cluod Nine and all the wonderful folks at leatherwood made us feel so special and alive,Now when I have a hard day all I have to do is reminise on our time at Leatherwood and nothing can get me down. It was the most theraputic vacation ever.

Gorgeous views - tough to escape the heat

Left on 07/29/2010 for a stay in July 2010

Cloud Nine is a beautiful log cabin with unbelievable views. You could sit for hours reading a book with a glass of wine on the deck while feeling like the only people on the planet. Only at night could you see 2 tiny lights a few miles off to remind you that there was life out there. We had hoped to escape the heat to the mountains but it was still hot. While it was 100 degrees in Raleigh it was still 90 degrees at Leatherwood. The pool is small, not crowded at all but small. We have a 9 month old (our first) and we had a blast with her. The house was very clean and safe for her. It was a nice relaxing week out of town.

A little bit of heaven on earth!

Left on 04/21/2010 for a stay in April 2010

Believe that this makes the seven or eight times that we have stayed in a cabin at Leatherwood over the past twelve years or so. We have never been disappointed with the arrangements or the cabins that we have enjoyed so much. Making the reservations there are seamless and the information that is provided about the cabin, facilities, directions and events are very well prepared and presented. Cloud Nine is an absolutely lovely cabin with a great view of the mountains. It is a quite retreat surrounded by fantastic scenery and wildlife. Very well maintained and lacked nothing in the way of amenities. You can sit on the deck and watch the sunrise or sunset, enjoy the hot tub, read a book, or sit inside and look out the windows onto the mountains. We personally enjoyed sitting on the deck, cooking on the grill and enjoying some of the greatest peace and quite that we have had since our last visit. We love the fact that this is a gated community which gives an added since of security. The winding roadway to the cabin takes a little getting used to and can become somewhat tedious if you make a lot of trips in and out of the community, but it was still well worth it. The only problem that someone may have with Cloud Nine is that it has an echo inside so if you have children running and screaming in and out of the cabin, it could get a little loud. As for us, we will be back again, God willing, in the future!

      Serenity at Cloud Nine

Left on 11/12/2009 for a stay in November 2009

Overall, I had a good and enjoyable stay at Cloud Nine. I stayed from 11/7-11/9. The only issues were that the fireplace was broken which was disappointing. I called the office and they said it was broken before my arrival and someone was coming to fix it the day after I was scheduled to leave. I feel that since we had booked the weekend far in advance, more attention should have been taken to fix it before my arrival. No discount for the broken fireplace was offered either. The only other issue was that there were a lot of black flies and wasps in the cabin not just a few. The office informed me that at this time of year it can't be helped that they come in all the cabins. I can accept that if it can't be helped. I don't want to be too critical because we did have an awesome time at Leatherwood. I just want to make you aware of these issues so they can be improved upon to result in a more enjoyable stay. Now for the positives: the views were awesome, the stars at night were beautiful, the staff at the offices are so friendly and nice, the horseback trail ride w/ the guide, Lizzie was so enjoyable and the cabin was clean and beautiful. The weekend was such a stress reliever and made for a memorable 50th birthday stay with my brother.
I would definitely book another stay at Leatherwood. My brother and I are talking about booking a stay in the future with both our wives and children.
      Thank you.
      Lou B.

Response from Leatherwood Rentals, Inc. - 11/13/2009

      Leatherwood Rentals, Inc.

      Manager

Thank you so much for your review of Cloud Nine. It is such an amazing home that our guests just love! We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay & we look forward to your next visit! We apologize for the fireplace issue that you had. There are so many advantages to operating a business in Leatherwood but form time to time we have a hard time getting service personnel to respond in a timely fashion. We apologize for the disappointment however.

I wish we could say that the Lady bugs, black flies & wasps were an isolated incident but unfortunately they are regional issue that we have to deal with from time to time in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We do the best we can to make sure they are gone before your arrival but it is pretty amazing how quickly they can show back up! We constantly try to stay ahead of the bug issue - it really BUGS us too!! Thanks for your input & understanding - we look forward to your next visit!!

Quiet and peaceful cabin with beautiful views

Left on 09/10/2009 for a stay in August 2009

The view from inside the cabin and from the porch speaks for itself. But the cabin was exceptionally clean and well cared for, which made us feel comfortable, and able to really relax there. We cooked all our meals in the cabin, but it was so well equipped with the grill, and the view, that it was a pleasure to cook in. If you can rent a cabin of this quality, there is no reason to own one.

The guided trail rides were beautiful and enjoyable. The Leatherwood rental trail horses handled the mountain terrain sure footedly, and let us just enjoy the ride. And if all the guides are as accomplished horse women and men as Lizzie, the rides are very well guided.

The staff knows their job, and knows how to make a cabin rental enjoyable and no fuss.

Thanks for letting us enjoy a great place, and for a job well done by the staff.
