Quiet retreat for a group of friends!

Left on 03/21/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Eight of us stayed at this property over a long weekend very comfortably. The eat-in kitchen and open floor plan upstairs is great for large groups and the downstairs area with wet bar, pool table, and ping pong table makes for a great place to spend the late evening or rainy day. The entire house was very clean and the wrap-around deck was excellent for morning coffee and afternoon refreshments. Several walking trails (horse trails, technically, but we only brought our boots) are nearby and the main entrance is only ~10 minutes away. The covered area in front of the house is a great common space for games and for being outside even in the rain.

Our complaints are minor and do not take away from the weekend: the televisions are small and dated, the ladybugs inside the house went from "here and there" to complete invasion by the time we left (common in the winter in this part of the country), the downstairs fridge never became cold, the pilot lights on the fireplace went out multiple times (maintenance was told), and the mattresses on a couple of the beds resulted in some sore backs (not sure if it was the age or just the type).

Overall, we were very pleased with this house and it suited our needs quite well for 4 days and 3 nights.

Great place for a family reunion

Left on 11/27/2012 for a stay in November 2012

Spent four days here for Thanksgiving with family coming from different states. Weather was great with sunny days and clear nights. The back deck is great for watching the sunset and for star gazing. The home is very comfortable with many windows that allow for great views from every room. The home is great for older people or for wheelchairs as they can walk right in and never have to leave the main floor, as there are two bedrooms on that level. The other two bedrooms are on the lower level and are closer to the game rooms and the hot tub. The kitchen is well equipped as we had plenty of items that allowed us to prepare a full scale thanksgiving meal. The cabin is easy to get to as it has its own paved driveway for a quarter mile back to the cabin and then the last 150 yards is a level stretch of gravel. If you like campfires, be sure to ask about building your own one evening in their campground beside the stream. The hot tub is private, as it is located under the back deck. The only issue with that location is that it does not afford a view of the night sky, but it still does have a long range mountain view. We did lose water pressure early one morning, called maintenance and within minutes they had a new filter in place and the water pressure was back. The hiking is great from this location as there is a trail out the back door. Plenty of dining space as the main table holds 8 people with room for 4 more at the kitchen island. Nice bar area in the basement with separate rooms for both ping pong and a pool table. This cabin is located away from other cabins with only one other cabin within 300 yards.

      Great location for horseback adventures!

Left on 12/15/2011 for a stay in November 2011

We enjoy this home because of the size and proximity to the horse trails. We have been coming to Leatherwood for almost 15 years and love the setting for horseback riding. The barn setup is perfect! This home accomodates our older children and their friends very comfortably. I would have given it an excellent rating except for the need for a few repairs.

Merlefest Housing with mountain views was excellent.

Left on 06/09/2011 for a stay in April 2011

Everything about the house was fantastic for our purposes, except for the lack of high speed internet. Since this house is so far back in the resort, cell phone reception for several different carriers was non-existent in the house.
