Chaponost, FranceHomely and plenty of space

Stayed here with four boys and enjoyed. Situated in the centre of the village so ideal for amenities and also for walks. Plenty of room at the front of the cottage to store 6 bikes but would have needed to cover if it rained. There is a shed out the back. Despite not having parking with the property we had no problems parking our large people carrier directly in front of the property after every outing. The children took over the t.v room to watch DVD play games etc and I was able to sit quietly in the sunny conservatory seating area to read from the excellent book selection in the library. We had and have had, in the past, many meals and takeaways in the cafe/ fish and chip shop, 1 minute walk away and it serves excellent food. Followed by walks along the beach and around the village to appreciate the great views.
My only criticism is that I would have preferred the dinning table to have been in the library area as once we were all sat down at the table it was difficult to move around., though I do see the advantage of being able to pass things directly through the hatch from kitchen to table.
All in all a great stay and good value for money. -

Bath, United KingdomA good base for exploring Carmarthenshire and Pembrokshire

We stayed for a week in Ferryside, two adults and three children. The house had everything that we needed inside, although an extra loo would have been a bonus. The outside space was patio and lawn area, which was adequate for our needs. There was plenty of space in the house for the family to spread out and relax with tv, dvds, books and games. Downsides were: The main double bedroom had a memory foam mattress which took some getting used to and the curtains in two of the rooms let in a lot of light. We had amazing weather, so had the windows open at night and the train noise at night was disturbing, also the rush hour traffic in the morning, however with the windows closed this wouldn't have been a problem. The village of Ferryside has a shop (selling rather random stock!) a pub, cafe, and a hotel a short walk away. We visited the cafe (which was very busy, always a good sign) and the Three Rivers hotel, the food at both was good, but not excellent. The hotel had a pool open to non residents which was nice to be able to walk to. The beach at Ferry side is nice and sandy, but on an estuary so not a swimming beach - lots of dogs too. Being on an estuary meant the we had long journeys to visit any attractions in Pembrokeshire, great places we visited there were Heatherton, Carew Castle, Laugharne castle and Dylan Thomas boathouse. We took a trip on the Gwili steam railway and also hired bikes at the Merlin centre (great service!) in Llanelli and cycled the coastal route, a brilliant facility. Pembrey country park has a lot to offer and great beaches. All in all we had a fab holiday, the fact that the doorstep amenities were not as good as we hoped and we did a little more driving than we would have liked is the only reason that I wouldn't recommend the property.

NorfolkNice cottage, shame about the trains
Left on 11/08/2010 for a stay in September 2010
We found the cottage was nice inside although had been badly Diyed in some areas. It is in fair location, looking towards the sea but the ground opposite was a bit of a dumping ground and the trains awoke us really early which wasn't such a relaxing stay.
The village of Ferry side is quite pleasant and easy to get to. The quiet country lanes were a welcome path for weary travellers and made for some decent views over the sea. -

The cottage was clean and comfortable with loads of homely touches. Only drawback was that we would have welcomed an extra toilet as there were 5 adults in our party.
