VILLA APARTMENT: IN GARDEN WITH POOL IN FETHIYE
Fethiye, Aegean Region, Turkey
(Property location is approximate) ?
What's Nearby:
Additional Location Information
There are 6 apartments in the building; one in full time occupation, the others are holiday homes, in a quiet residential area.
2 bedroom apartments are on the ground floor, accessed by a few stairs to own front door. Disabled access is possible. 3 bed duplex is on upper floors
Set in a large, well tended communal garden, the apartments have a large, well-shaded, private balcony, with barbeque and a table and chairs for balcony meals.
There is a large swimming pool onsite, shared occasionally with other residents and also shaded areas with tables and chairs for eating or relaxing in different parts of the garden
The nearest beach is a level 5 minute walk from villa, at the bottom of the road, and is most popular for fishing. From there you can walk, either to the right towards Calis,(famous for its spectacular sunsets from the beach) finding free empty beaches and others with cafes or restaurants and sunbeds, or turn left for central Fethiye. Beyond the town there are numerous bays, some sandy, some pebbly but all with crystal clear water and many ideal for snorkelling, which can be reached by the frequent minibuses or car if preferred.
The nearest airport is Dalaman which is approximately 40 minutes drive or 50minutes by bus. In winter, one can fly into Antalya and take a car or the bus (approx 3 hours) There is also a ferry/hydrofoil from Rhodes. Transfers can be arranged from all of these. Once in Fethiye a car is unnecessary as you can walk to all local amenities or take boats or minibuses to visit other beaches, villages and towns. There are also plenty of local taxis. The apartment is not on a holiday complex, but in a quiet residential part of Fethiye itself. From Ayyildiz it is a 20 minute level walk to the centre of Calis and approximately 30 to Old Fethiye and harbour. Gocek, Olu Deniz and other resorts are nearby and can be accessed by minibus
Fethiye is situated in a bay with numerous islands which can be visited by boat trips from the harbour. Carpet shops, boutiques, restaurants, are found in the old town and restaurants and bars line the promenade and harbour side. To our right from Ayyildiz right is Calis, with its famous beach and sunsets, waterpark and variety of restaurants. Although you don't need a car, (Dolmus or public minibuses seem to go everywhere), it can add to the holiday allowing the freedom to explore, stopping as you wish.
Travelling through the small villages around the area you will find how traditional life continues. If you prefer to explore by boat there are boat trips available from the harbour calling at many of the islands and the bays unreachable by road You can also take a day trip to the Greek island of Rhodes. By private car hire or via the wonderfully reliable and economic bus system, you can explore both inland or along the coast to the famous Olu Deniz lagoon or further to Kas and Kalkan.
On Sunday people assemble in Calis for market day and on Tuesday and Friday in Fethiye, affording the opportunity to buy some of the best local produce. Mugla province is famed for its almonds, honey and thyme and something you cannot buy in the market-the air

WorthingRestful break in a beautiful peaceful setting
Left on 03/21/2013 for a stay in October 2012
After last year's marvellous spring holiday we returned, this time for 3 weeks in autumn. Once again a wonderful break in a beautiful peaceful setting. The location has the best of all worlds, being a little away from the tourist places but near enough to everything. We could walk along the prom into central Fethiye, enjoying a drink or a meal along the water's edge, or stroll to Calis beach to swim, laze, eat and watch wonderful sunsets. One of our favourite discoveries was ambling through the nearby streets, where traditional village life seemed timeless, to Gunlukbasi, to collect a 'paket'(take away) to enjoy on our balcony as we watched the stars and enjoyed the tranquillity of the garden.
We also had time for a 3 day stay in Ephesus and surrounding sites - stunning! Planning to return again - soon.

LeedsLovely villa!
Left on 01/29/2013 for a stay in August 2012
We booked two of the apartments at Villa Begonia, and had a fantastic time there.
Susan was very helpful both before and during our stay, the apartment
was spotless and the garden and pool were well maintained.
Most of the time we had the pool to ourselves, and made good use of it to cool down in the heat!
Although I would generally choose to walk anywhere rather than take a bus, we did mostly use the dolmus to go to Calis or Fethiye just because it was too hot to walk far.
We enjoyed scuba diving and sea kayaking, went on a jeep safari, visited the markets and hired bikes one day, and spent the rest of the time just relaxing. A sandy beach nearby would have been nice, but the coast is stunningly beautiful.
The only downside of the apartment was being woken frequently during the night by dogs barking - we didn't hear them much during the day, but at night one would start then the others in the neighbourhood would join in!
We would definitely like to holiday there again in the future! -

AberdeenRelaxing and friendly
Left on 01/27/2013 for a stay in October 2012
We wanted somewhere where we could experience some Turkish culture and meet "real" Turkish people - not too touristy. Location was great as away from the resorts but with very easy access to Fethiye town centre/Calis beach. Susan was extremely welcoming and helpful, transport to and from airport was punctual. The kids loved being able to get straight out to the swimming pool (which was a good size and we had it to ourselves most of the time) The flat was basic but comfortable and with everything we needed. There's a little supermarket a couple of minutes' away and a bigger one about a 15 min from the flat. Mahmut the caretaker was very helpful and friendly too. The only downside was dogs in the neighbourhood barking when people went past and roosters cockadoodling which disturbed our sleep on occasion! The apartment was right next to a mosque but the call to prayer did not bother us...
Would love to go back some day and would rent from Susan again with pleasure - a really nice lady.

NewburyA holiday in paradise
Left on 08/25/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We have jut returned from a fabulous holiday
staying in the apollon apartment. From the time of my initial inquiry Susan has been attentive, patient and really went the extra mile helping me to plan the perfect holiday. We had never visited Turkey before, and Susan has been on hand to answer my questions and offer invaluable advice, including contact upon arrival in Turkey to ensure that we had arrived safely and settled in happily. I have also had a follow up call to make sure that we were looked after by the Turkish contingent, and that our stay was a comfortable one - we were, and it was! The apartment was very comfortable, home from home and the pool was lovely. For us, the location was ideal, quiet and peaceful but close enough to everything you could need.

Seattle, WA USABeautiful Condo!
Left on 06/10/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We rented the corner unit, shown on the right side of the picture for two weeks. It was beautiful, well maintained and clean. Susan was wonderful at offering advice and she sent me a well organized packet on Fethiye, how to get around and surrounding restaurants. We have a three year old son and he loved the pool and the children's park behind the house. It was a perfect location to relax, not too close to the town center, but an easy ride by bus. We did not have a car and found that we did not need one. I would advise bringing a cell phone because there is no wi-fi and we had a hard time connecting to wi-fi at restaurants in Fethiye and Calis. There was also a maintenance person who came daily to clean the pool and he was wonderful and helpful as well.

We very much enjoyed our week in Susan's lovely apartment. A quiet area close to ammenities and helpful information left explaining how to get to places of interest by using the local buses or taxies. We ad everything we could need in the apartment and we were very comfortable. We even managed to spend time in the pool which was immaculate...even though it was October!

We found the villa exceptionally well laid out, with everything needed to make a comfortable stay. the pool and gardens were well looked after, clean and tidy. the pool was a good size for swimming, and was an important amenity given the heat. Susan's instructions were clear and helpful, making it easier to find our way around quickly. location was convenient midway between Fethiye and Calis, but away from the main tourist areas.

Chester UKFirst visit to Turkey
Left on 08/11/2011 for a stay in August 2011
Stayed in apollon apartment, 3 bedroomed. Bright, open airy rooms. Stunning views all around. Peaceful, relaxing. Super swimming pool. My family had a lovely experience of visiting Turkey for the first time. Didn't hire a car, jumped onto public transport each day. Property is in a residential area, quiet. Not a complex which suited us perfectly.
Fethiye was a pleasant walk away, lovely town.
It was a really enjoyable holiday. I would recommend.

Glasgowa very comfortable and well equipped apartment with great pool
Left on 07/27/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The apartment is located between Fethiye town and Calis resort area. it is in a nice residential area but not far from the main roads on which you can the dolmus. Perfect location for us but probably a bit quiet for others. The walk to Fethiye too far for us in the heat with small children - but would be a lovely stroll otherwise. Nice playparks on the front and a great one next to where the tour boats leave. Brilliant local markets with good value fruit and veg and various supermarkets which are perfect for self-catering. We hired a car for one week and visited Olu Deniz, Gocek and the Karanci beach just north of the town. We liked the southern end of the Calis beach where it is a bit quieter. The best bit about the apartment is the access from the verandah to the garden and the large pool. We had it all to ourselves for most of the fortnight. The weather was hot at the end of June and beginning of July but not stifling at night due to pleasant breeze. We were really surprised that we didn't need to put the air conditioning on. The apartment is very nicely furnished and extremely well equipped with everything you could possibly need.

Worthing West SussexGorgeous clean appartment for a taste of Turkey
Left on 06/23/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We can't recommend this apartment or Turkey more!
We stayed at ayyildiz in mid June with our two children. The apartment was airy, clean and tastefully decorated. It has locking screen doors so you can keep the bugs out (not that we saw that many mossies) and you can sleep ok knowing your children are safe and secure. The kitchen had everything we needed and plenty of space and a view of the pool so you can keep an eye on your offspring whilst doing the washing up! The pool was very well used by our kids and it was handy having a shallower splash pool for the little one.
Ayyildiz is set to a background of beautiful mountains and we walked/took taxis/took the dolmus everywhere. Susan was right we were fine without a car - there was plenty to do and see within easy reach. All of us were impressed with Turkey and the hospitality of the locals, we felt safe and found everyone friendly. The weather was amazing, the food and the markets are an absolute must for any foodies out there and the apartment and pool were and absolute winner. We felt we had a taste of true Turkey and a chance to relax and have fun with our kids.
Thank you Susan for a lovely holiday, we would absolutely recommend ayylidiz to anyone and thanks so much for all your help beforehand and for the informative info pack!

Boston, MAComfortable home in good walkable location
Left on 06/17/2011 for a stay in April 2011
We stayed at this home for two weeks in april 2011. The home was perfect for us and our two small children: a kitchen to cook home meals in, a spacious and clean pool to swim in (and gated apt. doors and balconies ensure your small children can be safe from the unfenced pool, as long as you keep them all locked of course), and just enough room to sleep and let the kids watch cartoons comfortably. We enjoyed being able to walk into town- about 40 minutes with stroller-or a quick trip on a dolmus (minibus)- and the fact that the house is situated in a living Turkish neighborhood, not a holiday-centric area, so that local, inexpensive authentic eateries and shops were all within easy walking distance. We enjoyed waking to the sounds of the nearby mosque, and chickens and roosters clucking and crowing next door.
Susan is very easy to get in touch with and her representative is attentive and accessible during your stay as well. -

West Sussex UKwonderful springtime break
Left on 04/15/2011 for a stay in March 2011
Ayyildiz was a super location for our early spring visit to Turkey. We stayed late March-early april. We were thrilled by the beauty and history of the area, with snow capped mountains around us while we enjoyed the warm sun. The wisteria blossom around the villa was stunning and we felt the flowers in the garden welcomed us as we arrived! The apartment was very comfortable with all we needed like home from home and the lovely big pool was open, unlike many others which didn't open until May. There was plenty to do and see, with a good pack of information provided. We love to walk and enjoyed many seaside strolls both to Fethiye centre and nearby Calis. The fresh food in the markets was great and we enjoyed cooking and eating in and also visiting many friendly and economic restaurants. We didn't want to hire a car and didn't need one. The little dolmus buses are great! The owner was very helpful, answering our various questions before we went and the rep was available to answer more while we were there.

Worthing, West SussexDelightful cosy apartment set in spacious garden with pool
Left on 03/06/2011 for a stay in February 2011
I stayed in ayyildiz apartment in February 2011. It was cosy and warm and light and airy and has a very homely feel. Situated on the ground floor makes it easy to use and enjoy the well maintained gardens with pool - ideal al fresco dining and a dip in the pool.
It is set in the pretty turkish neighbourhood of akarca. Nearby are the neighbouring areas of Gunlabasi and Calis with its beautiful beach and cafes. The newly constructed promenade provides a delightful walk into the town of Fethiye - along the route are many cafes and bars for meals and drinks and open all year round.
For daily shopping needs there is the large supermartet of Tansas.
The property is near several Dolmus routes to take you to Calis or Fethiye should you not wish to walk or any of the surrounding villages.
