Augusta Béduer is a free standing stone built “Quercy” style cottage for a maximum of 6 people and their pet (after arrangement in advance). The cottage is thought to originate from the 16th century. It is situated on the edge of the village Béduer, and as such quiet and peacefully, but certainly not isolated. At a minutes’ walk you can buy a fresh “croissant” at morning time, or visit the local bar and restaurants during daytime. The spacious and private garden of more than 4000 m2 in size, offers a garden terrace on a level with the house, a second terrace at a level lower, and a third terrace where you’ll find a private swimming pool (11m x 5m) and a lawn. From here you have a stunning panoramic view across the valley. All terraces can be closed independently, and are fully fenced, so that parents and children can safely enjoy the garden.
The historic town of Figeac (8km) with its many shops, patios, sights, lies midway between the cities of Cahors in the Lot and Rodez in the Aveyron. It lies on the pilgrim route across France to Santiago de Compostella, popular with thousands of walkers and cyclists. The rivers Lot and Célé offer possibilities for an active day: swimming, fishing, canoeing, rock climbing and spelunking. Sights including Pech Merle (caves with world famous murals). Gouffre de Padirac (impressive cave featuring stalactites) and Rocamadour (medieval pilgrim’s town) are excellently suited to a day out.
Béduer can be easily reached, a mere 40 kilometers from the A20 highway, 9 kilometers from Figeac train station. The region is approached from the airports at Rodez (Ryanair and Air France); about 45 minutes away by car and Toulouse (British Airways, Air France and Easy Jet): about one and three quarters of an a hour away by car.
Béduer is situated in the department of Lot. The department lies to the north of the Midi-Pyrénées region, in the southwest of France. Béduer is a charming little village with approximately 720 inhabitants. In Béduer you’ll find a bar, restaurant, and a bakery. Each Saturday afternoon a traditional market is held in Cajarc (15km). Eight kilometers from Beduer you will find the historic town of Figeac with its many shops, patios, sights.
The Lot department offers a varied landscape with medieval villages, fortresses, caves and castles. Situated along the Lot river are some of France’s most beautiful villages, built into the rock with a fantastic view over the river and the environment. Everything here breathes a rural peace and quiet. For people looking for peace, tasty food, French rural culture – and for history enthusiasts – the Lot is a fine place to start. But active people too will find plenty of possibilities in the Lot area with its bike and hiking routes and the various possibilities for horseback riders. The many rivers and lakes allow for fishing, or canoe and kayak trips.
Another possibility is a tour through the nice Lot-valley, along the meanders of the Lot river. There one drives through fine medieval villages such as Cajarc, past old fortresses and nice villages such as Saint-Cirq-Lapopie, one of the most beautiful villages in France.
Furthermore a tour (by car or bike) of the Cahors wineries makes a decent activity.
The Lot department is blessed with a moderate climate and pleasant temperatures throughout the entire year. Plenty of sun in summer and mild winters.
