Stang Korvenn (an ancient Breton name) is a traditional stone built long house or "longere" comprising a large farmhouse and this attached but separate Riverside Cottage, which sleeps up to 5 people in 2 bedrooms. The cottage is comfortable and fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy a cosy country holiday in a place that is very "far from the madding crowds". The rear of the house looks directly onto the lovely river Aulne as it sweeps peacefully by. There is direct access from the secluded woode...d gardens to the beautiful river (part of the-Nantes Brest canal), one of the best fishing spots you'll find anywhere. Being just off a quiet main road allows easy access to the wonderful empty roads of the region and dozens of places to explore within easy reach: the West and Southern coasts of Brittany 30 to 40 minutes away, little friendly towns, villages and all sorts of attractions including excellent golf within a 45 minute radius. Perfect for a wonderful relaxing holiday.

Stang Korvenn has extensive grounds as well as the superb riverside location. In its 2 acres of gardens there is plenty of space to stretch out and relax, as well as loads of grassy areas for kids to run, cycle and play ball. There is also a fun games barn (see below).The nearest shop and bar are less than a mile away in the charming little village of Saint Thois, and the pretty market town of Chateauneuf du Faou with supermarkets, banks, restaurants and bars is a 5 to 10 minute drive or 25 minute cycle along the river / canal path. There are no immediate neighbours for the houses.

In the midst of the beautiful countryside and unspoilt coasts of Finistère, with activities to suit every taste (unless you're looking for noise and crowds!). Wild life is abundant, with kingfisher, heron and many other beautiful birds to watch, as well as bats, deer, otters and even coypu can be seen if you're patient. Children and families are well catered for, as well as the child free. Hundreds of miles of wonderful unspoilt safe and sandy beaches are within easy reach.

Local activities include: fantastic fishing (we have a fishing guide to the area if you wish and we can arrange licences), river swimming, excellent golf nearby, bike riding, running and walking along the canal tow-path, boat and kayak hire nearby, and excellent low cost horse riding stables. We have a large "games barn" with table tennis, darts and table football (foosball) for the competitive, as well as several adult sized bicycles for you to use. Stang Korvenn is in the midst of the beautiful countryside and unspoilt coasts of Finistère, with activities to suit every taste (unless you're looking for noise and crowds!) Often described as similar to Devon or Cornwall in the UK (though much less crowded), you may just fall in love (as we have) with the rugged landscape and golden beaches of this inspiring part of the world. The climate is similar to the South West of England too, but with a warmer and drier summer. Winters are generally mild too.

Less than 30 minutes from the beautiful mediaeval city of Quimper, the region capital, it makes an excellent base from which to explore this truly unspoilt and inspiring part of the world.

With such variety there really is something for everyone - whether you like to visit a beach resort like Benodet on the South Coast, or any of the lovely secluded beaches on the Crozon peninsula. Even in the height of summer you can often find yourselves alone on a beach here. And no car parking charges!

Lovers of good food and wine will be spoiled for choice and the seafood is unrivalled, and as fresh as you can get. Local specialities include the famous buckwheat crepes (either savoury or sweet), and the Breton cider is delicious.

Our information pack will point you to several places of interest and recommendations, though half the fun of this sort of holiday is discovering for yourself!

The roads in this part of Brittany are delightfully empty, even in the height of summer, as they sweep through the glorious rolling countryside, perfect for motorbikes (and open top sports cars). We have a secure barn where you can park your Harley(s) or Ducati or whatever - though crime is very low in the area anyway.

Public transport is virtually non-existent, so your own independent transport is advised. There are excellent cycle routes all over Brittany and the 300+ kilometre cycle path along the Nantes Brest canal passes the house, so ideal fo a cycling holiday (we have secure bike storage on request). Plenty of room to park your car(s) at the house and gite, with separate parking areas for both.

An hour from the ferry port of Roscoff, 45 minutes to the airport at Brest, 2 hours to Dinard airport and St Malo ferry port and 3 hours to Nantes or Rennes airports. TGV train station at Quimper, less than 30 minutes away.

Rates include:
* Bed linen, hand and bath towels (replaced weekly)
* Cleaning after your stay (but guests should leave the house in a reasonable state) . If staying less than 3 nights, £45 cleaning supplement is payable.
* Welcome "basket" - wine, basic groceries etc.
* Heating and lighting

Discount of 10% on second and further weeks.
Guests must leave house by 10:30 am on date of departure (i.e. last date).
Occupancy is from 4pm on day of arrival. Changeover day is Saturday only in high season.
A 25% returnable breakages deposit is payable in advance - and we do not charge you for the odd broken glass!
Responsibly managed pets may be accommodated but an extra charge is payable - please enquire.

  The cottage is very cute. It is located right off a main road which concerned me at first but it ended up not being a problem. Things were very quiet. The owners were very responsive when we had some things that we needed. We had a nice stay.
