Built 400 years ago Walnut and Chestnut Cottages have been beautifully renovated combining the old with modern comforts. Set in a peaceful hamlet within walking distance from the local village on the edge of Finistère/Morbihan, they are ideal for exploring the beautiful countryside and coast of Brittany.

Brittany has a wealth of historical and megalithic sites, an amazing coast line, beautiful rolling green countryside, there are small working fishing ports where you can see the fisherman arrive and depart and numerous islands waiting to be visited. Every town has a market day - Auray is particularly good.

* The historic town of Quimper, the capital of Finistère, with its Gothic cathedral, ramparts, museums and old busy quarters, shops and markets offers many festivals all year round.
* The Gulf of Morbihan - a bird spotters dream
* Pont Aven is a must see with its links to the Impressionists and biscuiteries
* Concarnou - the ancient walled town - what a surprise!
* Carnac - a world renowned Megalithic site
The Quimperle / Querrien area
A Gateway to Cornouaille and Finistère and only a stone’s throw from the sea with its sandy beaches, Quimperlé is packed with appeal and will seduce you all year round with its many activities and events. Uniting the seaside with the countryside, this charming town combines an important heritage with a relaxed pace of life. From the upper town to the historic quarter, along picturesque alleyways and down cobbled steps, across pretty bridges, the town is just waiting to be discovered.
Querrien has a general store, boulangeries, butchers, tabac, bars, creperie - all you need. There are walks and 18th century bread ovens to discover amongst other things.

Wonderfully warm welcome from Jules and alan who were so generous with their time, their home and their advice. Alan was also very happy to let our teenagers monopolise his snooker table! Very well equipped gite with absolutely every kitchen utensil you could possibly need. Apparently there is a beautiful wood at the bottom of the garden but we did not explore it. Perfect setting and very well located for visiting this beautiful area. The list of local markets provided was very useful and we spent many happy hours visiting some of them. Beautiful beaches nearby and picturesque towns made for a perfect 5 day stay. Thank you! The only tiny drawback, which would not be an issue for all guests, was that during our stay the wifi signal was very weak and was only accessible from one windowsill, or from sitting outside (or in the doorway when it was raining!) Jules and alan told us they are going to install a booster to sort this out and I stress that this would not be a problem for everyone.

We had a lovely time at Jual Gites, from their waiting up late for us on our arrival day, the complementary bottle of wine and cheese, and the help with finding local attractions.

Lovely accommodation, very well equipped. Beautiful location but within walking distance of a small village. Fantastic warm welcome from Jules and alan with the added bonus of a welcome pack of food and wine.
A visit to Concarneau is essential for sightseeing and photographic opportunities. There is a fabulous walking/cycling track along the coastline starting at Kerfiny les Pins. Traffic free and glorious scenery, worth taking a picnic lunch!
