Description from the owner
The Mountain Star β Experience an ideally-situated, magical Mountain Getaway with Incredible Views and so very much to offer!
Located in the heart of the Coconino National Forest along the San Francisco Peaks scenic corridor just north of Flagstaff, this spectacular and convenient location is just one thing that sets The Mountain Star apart from other area properties. It can be rented for as little as 2 days, but is a perfect place for a multi-week stay.
The Mountain Star, located at an elevation of 8,000 feet (2,438 meters) on 5 beautiful acres and backed by National Forest land, offers breath-taking natural beauty, expansiv...Read more

Additional Location Information
The Mountain Star is a rare and amazing location. It has the beauty and openness of a remote mountain location yet is only 20 miles from the key regional center and resort town of Flagstaff. It is easily accessed via a well-maintained and beautiful, undivided 2-lane highway (AZ 180) that exists almost exclusively to provide thoroughfare to the Grand Canyon. The Mountain Starβs five acres are part of an area known as Kendrick Park, a 180-acre private land βislandβ in the middle of the Coconino National Forest (the largest stand of Ponderosa Pine in North America). The home itself is directly backed by the national forest. Hiking and biking opportunities abound and are as close as the front door!
I believe this home offers the most beautiful and panoramic views available in Northern Arizona. The homeβs extensive windowing was designed specifically for the views. The home directly faces the beautiful San Francisco Peaks to the south, Kendrick Peak to the west, Saddle Mountain to the east and forested hills to the north. Though easily accessed, it is completely βoff-the-gridβ and is powered by the sun and the wind. At 2,438 meters (8,000 feet) of elevation, the night sky is glorious.

Tucson, AZThe Mountain Star Resort is a Five Star Experience all around!!
Left on 05/13/2013 for a stay in September 2012
My wife and I enjoy romantic getaways and were thrilled to come across The Mountain Star Resort last fall. Our stay was so wonderful we found ourselves planning our next trip while enjoying a cup of coffee and the breath-taking views from the wrap-around upper deck on our second day.
This lovely home, designed by its talented owner, is set in a wide valley facing the slopes of Mt. Humphreys, at 13,000' elevation the highest mountain in arizona. Every season here can be enjoyed in its spectacular beauty.
As soon as we stepped inside the Mountain Star it felt like our home away from home, and we knew that we would not want to leave. The resort is uniquely beautiful inside and out, and has all the comforts and amenities you could ask for. If you enjoy the great outdoors, and / or the quiet solitude of a beautiful mountain home, treat yourself to a stay at the Mountain Star.
The Mountain Star is located about 26 miles north of Flagstaff, placing it in proximity to some of the most important scenic and historical treasures of the West. Artists, adventurers, or anyone seeking a peaceful retreat will find the home of your dreams at the Mountain Star. -

FlagstaffGorgeous vacation home in the mountains of Northern arizona!
Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in November 2012
My husband and I spent time in this beautiful home with a group of friends just to relax and enjoy the scenario. Not only is the home itself beautiful (I believe it's fairly new construction) with a gorgeous open great room (including kitchen, dining, livingroom areas), but the view is phenomenal. The San Francisco Peaks (home of arizona Snowbowl) are breathtaking. The mountains are visible both inside the home, as well as from the wrap around second story deck. My favorite feature is the upstairs loft...what a unique and peaceful setting for snuggling up with a book and a blanket during a winter snow storm with some hot chocolate!

You are surrounding by beautiful mountains and wildlife that you can enjoy all day and night just by sitting on the deck or by going hiking in the nearby wilderness. The night sky is amazing. I truly enjoyed every minute while at the Mountain Star. The views are breathtaking and the evening sunsets are priceless. To be surrounded by natural settings and wild life is what makes the Mountain Star so spectacular. Coming from the city, it is rare to see stars at night. I had never seen so many stars and the details of the moon, till my stay at the Mountain Star. There are lots of hiking trails and places to cross country ski. The Mountain Star is located between the city of Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. Also, just minutes away from the ski resort. The owner Rob Dutton is a great guy to work with. He made sure that my stay was peaceful and relaxing. I would highly recommend the Mountain Star for a romantic getaway or family vacation. An absolute-unforgettable vacation that I will treasure for a life time.

The first time I ever heard of Kendrick Park, near Flagstaff, AZ, was an article I read, in the July 2011 arizona Highways magazine. The first time I ever met Rob Dutton, the impressive owner of Mountain Star Resort, was in the fall of 2011. Rob's enthusiasm of his "piece of paradise" in Kendrick Park, and, life in general, is infectious! With Rob's people-loving personality, he will treat you like family & leave you with an unforgettable impression! He champions hospitality! Let me assure you that Rob will gain the greatest and most significant enjoyment when he sees and hears the enjoyment of his guests!
Mountain Star Resort is a place where every element of the local culture can gather and feel welcome. This Resort features a peaceful, tranquil sanctuary & provides an unparalleled encounter with nature, wildlife and the fresh mountain air. Mountain Star Resort offers not just a singular experience, within the Flagstaff area, but one unique in the southwest. The peacefulness and beauty that surrounds Mountain Star Resort is the home to many varieties of native grasses and plants and it is the natural environment that draws you in. The owner of Mountain Star Resort is committed to preserving the integrity of the land and its resources. A stay at Mountain Star Resort is magical and an enchanted experience. I could sit forever on the deck and listen to the stillness of the great outdoors, or watch the unpretentious wildlife that may pass along, or see what the night sky has to offer.
Those of us who have been so fortunate to experience what Kendrick Park/Mountain Star Resort has to offer, few places capture the essence, elements and enhanced experience like Mountain Star Resort!
While in Kendrick Park, you breathe a sweeter air. I fell in love with the whole experience in Kendrick Park!
Mountain Star Resort is one of the "crowning jewels" of Kendrick Park!

Apprehensions are normal when approaching a new destination. Ours melted away as we drove up the long drive from the main highway. Stunning is one of many words that describe the beauty of where this wonderful vacation property lies. The panorama that is right outside the window is something that can only be appreciated by seeing first hand. My traveling partner was truly left speechless and was making plans for a return trip when we arrived home. You won't find a better host than Rob, he is a real gem. Personable, talented, someone you'll love to hang out with, and will sing you a song at evenings end. Make The Mountain Star a definite stop on your journey in arizona, disappoint is not part of the stay.
