This cottage and the surroundings surpassed our expectations. It is an ideal, relaxing setting with children. There are goats and peacocks right outside a beautiful lake and very friendly staff. It was a delight.

This was our third time back to Highland Lake Properties. Steve took special care of us recommending numerous options of homes to fit our exact needs. We love visiting and especially eating at the Seasons Restaurant which by far is one of the best eating facilities in all of North Carolina.
We loved every minute of our very relaxing stay.
It always brings back fond memories of Our Lady of the Hills Catholic Camp where I spent 12 great summers of my life!

A wonderful cabin, very up to date. Lots of room. The screened-in portch is hard to leave at night. Clean & bright.
Great Experience in a Nice House

What a nice house. We liked the layout, the furnishings were top notch and the house was very very clean. We used the charcoal grill in the front yard while the kids chased fireflies. It took us a while to figure out the bird making a lot of noise in the mornings, turned out to be a white peacock! one of the most beautiful birds I have ever seen and what was amazing was the he got high into a tree across the way. There were also the sheep and other birds for the kids to watch. Over all a very different environment compared to any other place we have stayed before or since.
I do have two problems with the house. There was not a TV in the master bedroom, it made me read a real book while trying to go to sleep! The flat screen in the living room was nice though. The second problem was that we did not want to leave! It so nice to have an entire house, no elevators, no stairwells, no one above you doing that Irish stomping dance all night. Full kitchen, two full baths, nice linens, just a great place to stay and we will be going back one day!
We love this zip code

The location and surrounding areas are just charming. The cottages are thoughtfully furnished and comfortable. We have not found better accommodations in this zip code.

We love visiting Highland Lake and especially like these cottages. Over the past years, we have stayed in several at different times of the year. Steve is very accommodating and great to work with. We hope to come back during the winter!

The cottage was great. Everything we needed. I am a light sleeper; and it meant a lot to have comfortable beds. Management was available when we needed help.
It wouls be helpful if there were some lighting on the road.It was very dark when we came back from dinner.
We especially liked the 2 proches. Loved the swing.

Highland Lake is on our short list of places we might retire to. We wanted to experience what it might be like to live there, shop there, participate in activities. Renting this home was the perfect solution. We could imagine living in a home of this size. We shopped locally and met some of the people living in the area. The peaceful quiet at night, the wonderful smells of the forest and an early walk to the lake were some of our treasured memories. We took a drive to Lake Lure and hiked up Chimney Rock. It was a great vacation.
What a Great Place! It was like staying home away from home!

Lots of luxuries, upgraded linens, comfortable leather furniture, great open floor plan, plenty of kitchen gadgets if you want to cook, hard wood floors and new carpet in the bedrooms. It was a very, very clean place and very quiet and relaxing setting.
We loved how the white peacock entertained us. Our Children enjoyed the farm animals. Grill was convenient and we enjoyed grilling steaks one night.
The side screened-in porch provided a wonderful place to dine out doors. The front porch had a relaxing porch swing and rockers for taking in the clean crisp air.
Large flat screen TV in the living room that can be viewed from the kitchen and a tube TV with VCR in the kids room, kept them entertained.
We had a very relaxing stay and we wish we could have stayed longer. We loved this quaint cottage! We hope to be back soon.

We have stayed many places in Hendersonville, NC, this is by far the most beautiful. The house was impeccable, very nice linens, exceptionally clean, and the location was perfect. We had a wonderful experience from the time we reserved the property till we checked out. Everyone should definetly consider this home or one of the other beautiful homes on the property. We really enjoyed the white peacock and the goats. We will definetly reserve this house again. Be sure to check out all the shopping and restaurants within a very close drive.

My husband, his parents and I stayed here for 3 nights. We enjoyed cooking a big breakfast and just relaxing after with coffee on the porch. I really did not want to leave! Loved the decor, the porch swing, and screened porch! Would like a King bed, but other than that the beds were comfortable with really nice Ralph Lauren linens! It is peaceful and off the beaten path. But, so close to Hendersonville. Much better than a hotel...really hope to stay again soon! Love Seasons, but did not get to dine this time! Maybe next time...Oh, and it is close to the grocery store! Just wonderful!

My son and I always enjoy our stay at the Highland Lake Cottages. The atmosphere is so special that we create very, very wonderful memories here. Steve, is a wonderful host always available to handle calls or questions. He went out of his way to show my son how to work the stove and was gracious on our arrival and check out.
Highly recommend this for any one needing relaxation and family time!

If you are looking for a nice, quiet beautiful place to sit back and relax, this is the perfect location. It was convenient to Hendersonville, Asheville, and other day trip destinations. We loved going up to Flat Rock Bakery and the Wrinkled Egg to eat and hang out. We also bought a large bag of carrots to feed the goats in the afternoons- they were wonderful entertainment. The grounds were so peaceful. The cottage was comfortable and amenities were very nice - felt like home!
