A most wonderful cottage in a most wonderful location

We rented this cottage for a weekend. The first night I had friends up for a fun girls night together and the second night, my husband and I enjoyed a quiet night together. We all enjoyed walking the property and dining at Seasons restaurant. Although we only live about 30 minutes from Highland Lake Inn, it is like it is a world away. Steve was excellent in helping us find the right cottage for this weekend away. The cottage was beautifully appointed. The grounds of Highland Lake are like a story book. The food and service at Seasons restaurant were wonderful. We all can not wait to go back again one day. I highly recommend it whether for a romantic getaway or a fun filled trip with friends.
A super great weekend

We had a wonderful time. The cottage was beyond our expectations, it had everything in there to make it a home away from home, as well as lovely and clean The whole area of the cottages was beautiful, just outstanding. One of the many things we liked a lot was how easy it was to get to asheville and Hendersonville, both towns were a joy to visit.
It was a fabulous family getaway.

It is 5 years since we discovered the area thanks to friends of my son and daughter-in-law.The last two years we have stayed in the same home. It is perfectly charming and well equipped. This last trip we had horrendous weather however the house was bright and cheerful. It is near the grandchildren's camp and is a good transition spot.
The day before I left I discovered a classmate had moved into one of the homes in March. In between rain drops I was able to walk to her home. We had a wonderful visit and caught up after many years apart. My husband even met a children's author while doing a walk.It is definitely a retreat we will return to.

While our friends were staying at the adjacent Highland Lake Inn for the wedding weekend we were part of, we enjoyed the Lilac Cottage, which was actually closer to the Grand Old Hall than they were! Unlike the cottages at the other property, the Lilac was modern, had dependable wifi, an extremely well-stocked kitchen, and a bathroom for each bedroom. The screened porch over-looking the paddock was perfect for a late afternoon gathering with its many rocking chairs. We recommend this cottage for 6, even though you could have the 9 that it would accommodate. (We like the privacy of the 3 bedrooms.)
We enjoyed the downstairs master king suite with its enormous bathroom and jetted tub. It opens to the screened porch and had a beautiful view of the property out the windows. The upstairs queen suite has a deck opening off the bedroom, also overlooking the paddock. The other upstairs bedroom has twin beds that have the accessories to be turned into a king. The decor throughout is charming. The a/c was perfect for the summer heat. We walked down to the lake and enjoyed the paddle boats. We believe that the cottages at Highland Lake Properties would be perfect for a family reunion or multiple families wanting to get away together. It is convenient that the Highland Lake Inn & restaurant are adjacent, though we didn't try the restaurant. We went into asheville a couple of times to enjoy the downtown and it was an easy drive. The property manager was simple to deal with. The keys were waiting at the cottage when we arrived and there was no need to deal with an office. For 3 bedrooms, we paid less for the weekend that 3 rooms at the adjacent lodge would have been for superior accommodations!
Can't wait to go back!

We stay at highland lake every year. We love it! There are so many wonderful activities in the area. This was out first time staying in Lilac and we hope to stay there again. it is beautifully decorated and we were thrilled to find the closets stocked with everything we needed for our young kids (pack-n-play, baby gate, and toys/games galore.)
All the comforts of home and then some

We enjoyed this cabin because it has the amenities for a great vacation and is as comfortable as home. The owners have made it their own and then have been willing to share that with renters. We always enjoy our stays there - we are repeat customers. And Highland Lake Properties is great to work with and satisfies all of our needs quickly and easily. They've really got it down!
We'd stay at Lilac again just to enjoy the screened porch.

This was our family's second visit to the property, but it was our first stay at Lilac. We loved the casual, family-friendly atmosphere. The goats are the big draw in our visits. This year we all enjoyed the antics of the baby goat. The swings were also a hit with the children and adults. We looked for a swing on a very long rope but couldn't find it. Maybe we remembered wrong? We look forward to bring our other grands ro Lilac in a few years.
My stay was a in relaxed atmosphere in a very comfortable setti

Our two grandchildren were picked up from their camp and this was a perfect place for our families to reunite and unwind. The house was very cozy and warm and each of us enjoyed all of the amenities therein. The location of the cottage was close to many attractions: restaurants, stores and the convenience of being close to the heart of the cities of Flat Rock and Hendersonville.
We Love Highland Lake Properties

House was fantastic and our third stay in the home. Only negatives I have is that needs bigger TV downstairs and better wireless internet.

My husband, sister, niece and I absolutely loved the cottage. From the moment you walk in the door you feel right at home. The decor, the comfortable bedding, the setting, the wonderful screened porch all combined to make a perfect stay. We love Highland Leke--it's special.
Another awesome time

We love staying at the Garden Hamlets for our annual family reunion. The Lilac is a great family cabin: very large and clean, 3 bedrooms each with their own bath, plenty of toys and games for the kids and goats, chickens and ducks right out the front door. The only downside was having to pay extra for the swimming pool.

The Lilac is a great cottage, wonderfully furnished with all the comforts of home. Highland Lake is right in the middle of several areas around the asheville area that are fun to explore. Our only regret is that we didn't plan to stay longer to enjoy all the area has to offer.

Perfect Stay ... Wonderful Home

The Lilac Cottage is now one of our favorite vacation homes and we can't wait to return! It is perfectly outfitted and comfortable. We traveled with two teenagers and had plenty of space. and comfort. The owners have thoughtfully provided amenities for all age groups, and the floor plan nicely allows for many types of visiting groups. We enjoyed the serene setting and proximity to so many sights/activites.

My family had a wonderful time at this cottage and the location was perfect for everything we wanted to do. We went snow tubing and toured the small town of Hendersonville, plus hiked to a couple different waterfalls. The check in was extremley easy and the cabin was fully stocked with everything. We will be back!
