We have been going to Highland Lakes and staying at Goodnight Moon for a few years now. The cottage is so well set up and so nicely decorated. We feel really comforable here. The back porch is a pleasant place to sit and watch the goats. We are close to Flat Rock and enjoy the playhouse as well as the Frost homeplace.

A Dream Retreat

From the moment we opened the door we knew we were in for a treat. It was bright, well decorated, clean and simply beautiful. I liked this unit because it backs up to the woods unlike those across the pasture. It's very private and quiet. When friends saw pictures of the place on my blog they wanted more information and I was happy to give it to them. We look forward to staying here again...hopefully soon!
A peaceful retreat

We rented the Goodnight Moon cabin for a weekend get-away without kids. It was lovely- peaceful, relaxing, and quiet. The whole property, including Highland Lake Inn and the adjacent Highland Lake Properties, felt like one big retreat, in a good way. We bundled up and read on the porch in the evening and the morning. The sheep came over to greet us each time, but otherwise, it was completely quiet. We went to yoga on Friday night at Highland Lake Yoga, right on the property. Fred Brown is a wonderful source of yoga wisdom and delightful to meet. Steve, of Highland Lake Properties, was very easy to work with and responded right away when we needed a smoke alarm battery changed. We cannot wait to return with our kids and other family members.
I felt totally removed from outside responsibilities.

I was there for three months waiting to close on my house. I enjoyed staying there very much. It was a good choice for me. I would recommend it to other people. I've been in my house for over a week and it still doesn't feel like home to me like the cottage did. All in good time!
Most days, I would find the white peacock on the porch looking in at me, waiting for a bite to eat!
If I could've changed anything about my stay...I wish the pool was included without having to pay extra.

This is the 4th time I've stayed in the Garden Hamlet cottages and I love it more each time. The peaceful atmosphere provided by the setting, the cozy, upscale interiors of the cottages and the close proximity to Hendersonville, Asheville, Brevard and the Pisgah National Forest make it an ideal place to stay. The Flat Rock Playhouse and the Brevard Summer Music Festival are also great and convenient. The Goodnight Moon unit has everything I need and I will continue to return every year.

Had a great trip to western NC. Saw lots of sights, took a plane ride, drove the Blue Ridge. All in all a very relaxing trip.

My grown daughter and I stayed in Goodnight Moon for 3 nights. The cottage is charming and has everything you could possibly need. The surroundings are quiet with the exceptional noise from a gorgeous peacock! We will definitely be back.

Very enjoyable and comfortable stay for me and my wife. I was attending a conference at the Sanctuary and everything about our experience was first rate. The only minor issue was that the kitchen pans were not ideal for he only meals we cooked which was breakfast. We had dinner one night at Seasons and it was exceptional. The weather was drizzly and unseasonably cold when we stayed and we still loved our cozy "home."

Have stayed at Goodnight Moon many times and always have had an enjoyable and relaxing time . The cottage is perfect for a couple retreat and we very much enjoy using the kitchen instead having to go out every night for dinner. Will come back more than once a year.
