My husband and I stayed in the Blue Iris while I attended a workshop at the Sanctuary. The unit was clean, well equipped (I cooked every meal in the unit), the bed comfortable, and the first floor bedroom/bath was perfect for our needs. Steve was accommodating, clear with communication, and very friendly. The grounds were beautiful. I would high recommend this unit for a couple or a family. The two bedrooms and full bath upstairs could easily accommodate four more adults/children and an additional child in a dormer bed. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We stayed at the Blue Iris for a long weekend birthday getaway! What a fabulous house and area! We loved the feel of the whole community with the central playground, animals area and lake! A great family getaway location!! We will be back!

Beautiful and confortable home. It had all of the amenities required for a fabulous stay. The only problem we encountered was that the air conditioning system was not working properly. It made for really warm nights and overheated rooms upstairs. We spent very little time at the house since we were sightseeing so it was not too big of an issue for us. You may want to bring this to the attention of the rental company. Other than that our stay was wonderful. Loved the area. Lots of hiking, sightseeing, etc. Only other drawback is that it was a bit pricey.

We had a fabulous weekend staying there for my daughter's wedding. Several guests rented cottages. It was great having everyone staying together and so close to the reception site. As one guest said, "It was like a roving block party". All cottages were comfortable, clean, and any problems were quickly addressed by the properties manager.
It was very nice and cozy like being at home!!

We really had a nice time and everyone loved the home!
Had plenty of room for 7 to 8 people. And of course our
little jack-chi punkin! She was very much at home too!
Only things that it could use was a new grill! And an out
let that works in the down stairs bathroom. And tub needs
alittle drain care it backs up if your showering for long. Table in upstairs bedroom kept falling apart. Laugh! Wide screen Tv's and wi-fi were a plus!! And of course Steve who does the handling and maintenance! He took care of our beeping fire alarm promptly! Thanks Steve! Such a great guy and funny too! Thanks again, The Foster's "We will definetly come back!!" Highland is beautiful!!
Other than that it was lovely!
Lovely getaway! Great property

The Blue Iris in the Garden Hamlet is a very unique getaway. The house itself is tastefully decorated and clean. Looks better in person than the photos show! The property allows for feeling like you are in the woods, yet has great amenities within the Highland Lake complex. We love the restaurant, the yoga studio and the beautiful grounds that surround the Blue Iris! I liked it so much we booked it for 4 days more in July!
Amenities not exactly as advertised

Pros: The house itself was nice and close enough to activities and attractions, yet far away to feel away from it all.
Clean at check-in
Nice downstairs bedroom
Nice Decor in a Country Setting
Goats in pasture in front of home and be fun for children.
I was disappointed that a dvd player was listed, however it was in a storage trunk. We were not able to watch the movies we took, as the office was closed on Sunday, when we realized we weren't able to hook it up.
We had to call the manager to get the fireplace to come on.
Free Wi-fi was advertised, but a note on the fridge stated "no wi-fi in this unit". When I called to question where I could get service, I was told that I sould be able pick it up from surrounding homes. I thought this was a bit unethical.
No curtain on the kitchen door that has a full window. Anyone driving by at night could see through the unit.
Upstairs beds only suitable for children.
Perfect for us.

Friends and I stayed at the Blue Iris cottage and attended a workshop at the Sanctuary within walking distance. The cottage is very comfortable and roomy with a frount and back porch to sit out and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. We'll be back.

This was our third stay with Highland Lake Properties, we love it more with each visit. It is a very relaxing place to stay with young children and provides easy access to countless destinations and activities. The kids cried the first night home because they missed their goat friends.

The area was well kept and very quiet. Cottage was well equipped, but desparately needs new mattresses. The master bed was very uncomfortable and made for a restless night.
Nice to have use of canoes and kayaks.
Highland Lake was a nice location and easy to access other areas like Hendersonville.

We enjoyed the comfortable cottage along with our dog.

We were in this cottage while more family members were in other cottages for a week at Thanksgiving. There was a special coziness with the openness between the LR, Dining area and kitchen to enjoy the fireplace, read, open a bottle of wine, cook or watch TV. At another time of year the back porch wrought iron table and chairs would have been an enjoyable place for some meals. We did some goat watching from the front porch wearing our coats however. I loved taking my camera about the immediate are to capture the fall colors, the lake and waterfall views along with the animals. The Highland Lake Golf Course is so close and reasonable in price and is a fun course. My husband loves going there every day he can on our trips here, even in November!
