After an easy one mile drive down the gravel road which winds along the bank of the South Fork of the New River, you'll arrive at "Down by the River", a quaintly unique cabin constructed of 100 year old logs. This cozy riverside cabin features a glass sunroom for enjoying the quietness of the setting and the water as it flows by just outside your door. The main floor living area has an old-timey fireplace limited to use of "firelogs" only, and a sleeper sofa for extra sleeping. We had a great time.The cabin was more than we expected from the pictures.A totally relaxing and refreshing week. A short drive to Boone or West Jefferson,waterfalls hikes or a ride on the Blue Ridge Pkwy.That is if one wants to leave the serenity of the cabin. We enjoyed tubing and fishing on the river that borders the property.Roasting marshmellows in the fireplace,playing games and just sitting on the deck overlooking the river with a good book.The master bedroom was very roomy and comfortable with an electric fireplace that looks real and projects heat if needed.Very nicely decorated.It was a great week. This was the first time our friends had been in this area, they had a peaceful relaxing weekend and would like to return. They even tubed down the river with me. We love to come to this area and especially stay in "Down By The River" cabin. This place is heaven to us.

We enjoy the cabin and river lot! The bed is most comfortable of any rental we've been in. Just to let you know when it rained really hard on May 26/27 there was a leak at the upper doorway by the back door, by the sliding wooden door and ceiling logs between the sun-room and bedroom. anyway we enjoyed our stay and will use CMP again as soon as we can!

Great cabin tucked away in the mountains. With three boys, access to the river was great for fishing. We also enjoyed some of the local activities.

the cabin was beautiful, quiet, nice to stay fish camp just get away,... easy access to boone and wilksboro... clean spacious and cosy. had a wonderful time... made lifelong memories would like to stay again would recomend to anyone...especially couples who want to get away...

My wife and I were in suspense as we road along a dirt road running along a beautiful stream as to what our home for the week woukd be. Whemn we arrived were in "Heaven". It is quiet, restful and beautiful to behold. The remodeled log cabin was more than we expected and the solitude was wonderful. We will do it again some day
