We loved our stay at Crows Nest. Only thing we did not enjoy was the drive up to the property. The streets are confusing and not very well labeled. It snowed one day and that was scary to drive through. Also about 7-8 miles from any kind of store or place to get food so come well prepared. The cozy fireplace gave out on us a day before we left. Im not sure if it ran out of propane? Everything else was perfect.

The Crows Nest was awesome! My new bride and I enjoyed every minute. This is a great place to go and relax in the hot tub with an amazing view. Fleetwood is secluded (which is what we wanted) but is only a few minutes to West Jefferson or Boone.

Beautiful view. Very nice and clean property. Jerita was very polite, professional, and efficient. The dryer was broke. Could use a blower on the gas logs. Absolutelutely loved it and would love to stay again. We had a fantastic time.

We had a great time. It snowed while we were there, which made the stay even better. The roads coming down in the snow were a little tricky but we made it. House had an awsome view. Overall the stay was great.

Did not like the spiral staircase. Yes it was mentioned in the description but a photo would have shown just how narrow it was. Master bath was small, mattress in master springy. A larger than full bed on main level would have been nice. Only one TV. Washer & dryer in basement and only accessible from outside down a steep trail!

Left on 10/25/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Decorated nicely. Lots of windows & views were great! Here's the down side, the spiral staircase is narrow & after a day of hiking it's a hassle to climb. And coming down they seem even more narrow! The master bath is very small. I see where one reviewer wrote she solved this problem by using the downstairs bath, which is standard sized, but the staircase was more of an issue to us. If there had been at least a queen in the downstairs bedroom we would have been more than happy to stay on that level. The mattress in the master was not good quality. I would suggest replacing it but we couldn't figure out how they got it up there to begin with! (Didn't go up that staircase) It would have been nice to have a TV in the master or in the loft. There was only 1 in the rental. Fyi, steep winding road up to rental but we like that sort of thing. It was paved.

The cabin was well equipped, comfortable, cozy, and very clean and fresh. Our expectations were surpassed from the photos we had seen. We loved the privacy, mountain view, especially the sunrise, and enjoyed the moon-lit nights from the bubbling and soothing warm water of the hot tub(ahhhhh). After a full day of touring the area, we looked forward to a quiet dinner-for-two by the crackling fire. Plus the rental agency was easy to work with and very quick to respond to our inquiry.
The only quirk we found was the small shower in the master bathroom (and I'm petite), but that was resolved by using the main bath downstairs. There is a spiral staircase leading up to the master which may be difficult for some but we didn't have trouble at 60+ years. We also couldn't access local channels to get weather reports (didn't have a laptop with us), but resolved that by turning on the radio. Overall, you won't be disappointed in this rental. -

We really enjoyed our stay at Crows Nest! Our two boys loved the 3rd floor "nest"! The mountain views were great and the peace and quiet was awesome! On the down side, there was only a small area of road for the boys to ride their bikes on close to the house and we had to drive to the pond to fish, but even that was a fun adventure! We hope to go back again sometime!

The property is located off Railroad Grade Rd, a 10 mile strecth along the New River that is great for biking. You do have to drive 3 or 4 minutes to the parking area on the river but the easy bike ride along the river is totally worth it. Railroad Grade Rd is a popular cyclist route. Most properties in this community are within a short 5 minute or less drive to the community stocked fishing lake or common area access on the New River.

Left on 08/11/2012 for a stay in August 2012
The property was quite nice; and being near the fishing for bass/trout in the South Fork New River and proximity to Boone/Linville/BR Parkway made the location excellent.
The slow response from the agencies became somewhat frustrating; but always corteous. The line items of fees and daily rentals should be send BEFORE having to sign the contract agreement. The price quoted by the broker agency was about $100 LESS than the amount finally sent to us by ASHE for the three day rent. We were surprised to say the least.
Some suggestions for the Crow's Nest Property:
1. A clear colored street map that shows which roads and directions are one-way streets should be available and sent by email before the guest's arrival.
2. Information about the location's activities and fishing spots and restaurants/groceries/gas stations should be placed in the property's information notebook
3. The requirement to remove trash (as opposed to placing it in an outside on-site garbage receptacles) is troublesome. This is especially true for us that return home going south homebound, as there are no public trashpounds en route. This alone might keep me from renting Crows Nest again.
4. A can opener would be more than helpful, as would a counter dish drying unit.

This was a last minute booking and information was sent out ASAP. There are street maps and area information provided in our all rental properties. There is a trash convenience center located within 5 minutes from the main highway, maps and addresses to all local convenience centers are also provided at the property. Can opener mysteriously diappeared but has since been replaced.

Evergreen, CO, United StatesCrow's Nest Review
Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Overall, the place was great. However, it would be very difficult to get in/out of the area if it was snowing and people need to be forwarned that the road in is extremely steep and twisty; and this coming from someone who lives in the mountains of Colorado. The property has an ant problem. Other than that, pretty much as I expected.

This home is located in a paved community with year round access and snow removal service in winter months. Roads are narrow and windy throughout the High Country so please be prepared to drive in mountainous terrains. A few ants were seen at the property but since the property has been treated and to date no sign of any more ants.

Fleetwood Falls is great. Crows Nest is a unique home with plenty of parking and lots of privacy. It's a little too far to walk to the lake but it's an easy drive.

Pro: Really nice views from deck, comfortable furniture, very quiet neighborhood, deck had gate so dogs could enjoy, pet friendly, easy to book and easy to reach management company.
Con: No central A/C, we had to work pretty hard to cool the house down, 2 very narrow and steep spiral staircases with no handrail on one side. (We had a small baby and could not take him upstairs at all as it seemed dangerous to carry him down),washer/dryer were in basement that could only be accessed by going outside and there were LOTS of bugs and spiders in basement.(You are expected to wash most of the sheets and towels so you really do have to use the washer and dryer) In general the pictures make the home seem bigger than it actually was and the stair case was not disclosed. We would have chosen a different house that better met our needs had this been disclosed. -

We have always enjoyed staying in the Fleetwood Falls community. The weather was fantastic. Crow's Nest was quiet and relaxing. It was clean and nicely furnished. However, we would probably not rent it again. With the master bedroom on the second floor, we found the very tight spiral staircase inconvenient.

Left on 12/29/2011 for a stay in December 2011
We had a great time at the Crow's Nest. The cabin was cozy and very clean! We found everything we needed in the cabin from bath towels and pillows to pots and pans and wine glasses. The view from the top floor is great as is the view from the deck. Unfortunately, it was too cold on our trip to do much outside (the hot tub never really got hot enough to use in 30 degree weather), but we had a great time relaxing indoors. I would definitely recommend this property.

This is the first time renting property in the High Country after finishing school at ASU, and this property made me feel right at home once again. Beautiful views, privacy from neighbors, yet close enough to Boone where getting to town is a not a hassle.
Would definitely rent this property again. -
Wake Forest, NC, United StatesNice property, but some drawbacks!
Left on 07/14/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The property was clean and well-provisioned. The drawbacks? A very narrow spiral staircase that was not disclosed in the property info/photos. Difficult to use, and would have been impossible for the elderly or very young. Also, the internet connection was outdated. Had to have a laptop. Our IPAD would not connect, even after purchasing a router. We liked the place, but the staircase would keep us from coming back.
