Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Great location ... Quick walk to all! Awesome space for a family. Staff very accommodating and did a fantastic job arranging excursions for us. Out of the 4 1/2 baths, two were functional but could use updating. The others were fine. Kitchen was adequately stocked and it was very easy to prepare meals if you desire. Great coffee and gelato across the street. The only negative for us was the street noise...put your heavy sleepers in the bedrooms that face the side street! We will be back and recommend it highly to our friends and families.

      Outstanding!

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in April 2010

I have always stayed in the building that the Brunelleschi apartment is in when I visit Florence. For years I have wanted to try the Brunelleschi but never had a large enough group. In april of 2011 I finally had my wish come true when a group of girlfriends and I stayed at the amazing Brunelleschi apartment. It want outstanding! With a group of 6 we had more than enough room with luxury on top of everything else! We cooked all our meals there and truly felt like we lived in Florence. The apartment met all our needs
for comfort and privacy with such a large group. I have always stayed in the building and really love the
location. The Brunelleschi will not disappoint, I would
recommend it to anyone wanting the experience of living in Florence.

the most beautiful apartment in Florence

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in July 2010

I wish I could buy this place. 4 separate master studios. Unwavering commitment of the staff to do everything to make our stay a "Four Season" kind of service. Walking distance to the best places. Best gelato around the place.
Carpet in the living room was very dirty and old but the cleaning crew came and cleaned it. So my suggestion is to change that carpet and maybe get a satellite for more English speaking tv channels!

Thanks for your review. The apartment had satellite tv with lots of channels so maybe you did not use the right remote control for the tv! That's such a shame. Regarding the carpet, the Brunelleschi is one of our most booked apartments and so it leaves very little time to professionally get the carpet cleaned between arrivals. Hope to see you again soon,

      Two perfect weeks in Florence

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in August 2009

The Brunelleschi apartment near to piazza of Santa Croce is one of the most beautiful apartments to rent in Florence. You approach through a typical large entrance hall, a tiny elevator to the left that takes you up one floor or you can walk up the elegant stone staircase that must date from the 15th century. At the top of the stairs you enter to the left through a pair of beautiful walnut doors into the princpal room on the piano nobile of this magnificent old palazzo. This glorious square shaped reception room perfectly proportioned has a wonderful wooden ceiling that must be almost 4.5 meters high. It was the perfect room for entertaining and we had a wonderful catered reception there for our close family.

Leading from the reception room is a small dining room and a traditional kitchen. Other doors leading from the main reception room take you through lobbies to different parts of the apartment, all the bedroom suites are well appointed and the beds extremely comfortable. The agency was extremely kind and helpful. We stayed in the Brunelleschi apartment in the late summer of 2009 for two weeks leading up to the marriage of our elder daughter in Palazzo Capponi and a reception at Villa Maiano. The following evening we organised a reception for our guests in the Bargello, so the apartment was perfectly located. We would certainly stay there again if it was available, and recommend it to others.

Comfort and Luxury in the heart of Florence

Left on 05/14/2011 for a stay in April 2011

The apartment was extremely comfortable for a group of 8 couples and friends. Spacious, grand living and dining rooms, well-equipped kitchen, firm beds, functional appliances, ample towels and linens. The welcome and services during our stay were responsive. The central and charming location was a mixed blessing--close to all sites, with good local shops and restaurants, but also could be very noisy at night for 2 of the 4 bedrooms. Our only suggestion (this coming from a group of light-craving americans) would be to provide more adequate lighting in the bedrooms--small lamps did not provide enough light to read or see well in the bedrooms. Overall, this was an elegant and spacious apartment in an imposing building that was well-maintained and ideal for a stay in Florence.

If I am not mistaken all of the apartments in the Salviati building are being equipped with new cooking equipment and general kitchen supplies. We tend not to provide food items as we would be throwing out a lot of semi used food items after each client leaves!

Brunelleschi - Windows on Italy - love, love, love it!!!

Left on 01/09/2011 for a stay in December 2010

We're a family of 5 (kids ages 15, 19 and 20) and arrived in Florence from Rome where we'd been staying in 2 small hotel rooms. We were delighted upon arriving at the spacious and well appointed Brunelleschi. It offered us personal space after living without any the previous 5 days. Everyone had their own bathroom and my daughter even invited a friend to visit for a couple of days since she stayed in a room with twin beds. The location of the villa was also excellent.

Having a washer/dryer was a bonus and although the guestbook instructions didn't help, we found another version in one of the console tables and we were able to figure it out.

Additionally, Mr. Lamasson was particularly helpful and pleasant, especially since we do not speak Italian. He was very prompt as well. We also found the little grocery store across the street very helpful. They spoke English well, had the basic kitchen staples and were very nice.

The only negative was the stocking of the kitchen. We're a family who likes to cook and particularly enjoyed shopping at San Lorenzo (I think that was the name) for our Christmas Eve and Christmas dinners. Plates, pots, and silverware were plentiful but there wasn't enough bakeware. We purchased a baking dish and a cookie sheet and left them for the use of others. I must confess, we used an extra sheet for a tablecloth, topped it with a tapestry runner we had purchased and decorated with flowers and tea candles in glasses. We couldn't stand the thought of using the plastic blue placemats for our holiday feasts.

Lastly, prior to booking I read reviews of this villa on tripadvisor and found them to be tremendously helpful. After having stayed there, I can also tell you I think they were quite accurate. I was even able to find out ahead of time the villa is located over a restaurant (where we had a great meal one evening and on another had their delicious pizzas).

      Fabulous!

Left on 05/17/2010 for a stay in April 2010

A group of girlfriends took the trip of a lifetime to Florence and stayed at
the most beautiful apartment ever! We were meet by Alessandro right on
time and was very helpful and informative on all our needs during our
stay. The apartment was perfect for a group our size ( 5 ) as we each had
our own room, with the one mother and daughter that shared a room.
Because of the size of the apartment we never felt cramped or in each
      others way. We all
had our own bathrooms as well! We love to cook so we ended up cooking
all our dinners at the apartment and had beautiful sit down meals in the
dining room, which made us all feel like we were living in Florence if even
for a short period of time. The location was great and pretty quiet, very
easy to get around by foot to all the major sites and close to food shops and
the best gelato in the world! Our only complaint was we wish we had more
cooking tools, which we told Alessandro when we checked out and he told
us we could have called the office and they would have sent over what ever
      we needed!
Good to know for next time!!

      So elegant and spacious

Left on 04/21/2010 for a stay in October 2007

"The Brunelleschi unit is far more elegant and spacious than it appears in the photos on the website. The kitchen was well stocked & the formal dining room inspired us to cook some meals even if we were on vacation! The quality of the beautiful furnishings and the architecture of the unit are amazing. You almost feel like Italian royalty staying in the Brunelleschi! The bedrooms are wonderful and it was nice to be able to request 2 double beds or 1 single bed in some of the bedrooms. The only disappointment were the “rock hard” and flat pillows….I think it’s time to replace them. The palazzo is perfectly located close to Standa (grocery market), many wonderful restaurants & salumeria (delicatessens), clubs & bars, and right next door to Vivolli (the best gelato in Firenze!) I always bring my own cleaning supplies from the U.S. since I’m a “clean freak”, but I didn’t have to rewash or do anything as the Brunelleschi was spotless!! We appreciated having communal trash bins located close to the palazzo so we could empty our trash daily from the apartment. Well maintained exterior sharing space with a wonderful restaurant below the palazzo. Although I brought my own soap, it was a nice touch that you supplied us with enough soap, toilet paper, and amenities. It was also nice to have 4 ½ bathrooms for a 4 bedroom apartment. The livingroom was large enough to accommodate all 8 of us comfortably. We even hosted cocktail parties with some new friends we made from Firenze and abroad. They were impressed with the beauty and elegance of our apartment and plan to make reservations on their next visit. The kitchen was pretty well stocked, but it would be nice if you had enough glasses for at least 8 people. I also appreciated you supplying us with the dishwashing tablets, but we needed more than 3. It was very difficult to find, so we wouldn’t mind paying for any extras. Any restaurant recommendations?: La Giostra is our absolute favourite restaurant. We always have our first and last dinner at La Giostra. Unfortunately, the Principe has passed away this past March, but his sons have taken over the restaurant and kept to his exceptional service, quality of food, and great selections of wine. La Giostra is a “must do”. If you have “cash to burn”, we also love Enoteca Pinchiorri, Alle Murate, and the restaurant at the Villa San Michele in Fiesole. We also found many wonderful “less costly” restaurants like Osteria del Café Italiano, Cibreo Teatro del Sale and Café Giubbe Rosse. "

      Brunelleschi and our beloved Firenze

Left on 04/21/2010 for a stay in October 2007

"The first time my friends suggested that we stay in a palazzo instead of a hotel 3 years ago, I was very apprehensive since I worried that there wouldn’t be maid service, concierge, and all the amenities of having someone take care of us. Well, after my first experience with your Fiesole Unit and your wonderful staff in 2005, I cannot see staying in Firenze any other way! We have quickly graduated to the Brunelleschi Unit every year thereafter since we are bringing more and more of our friends with us to experience Firenze and your wonderful apartments. The Brunelleschi is now our “home away from home”. I’ve already booked the Brunelleschi for our return trip to Firenze since I noticed that more and more people are finding out about our hidden treasure. One of my special treasures that make our visits to Firenze extra special is our driver named Viviano Benedetti. His company Is called Vivicar. He is an amazing man that knows EVERYTHING about anything! He has taken us on fabulous tours to the outlets for shopping, wine tasting tours to Montalcino, Chianti, Radda, Greve. Viviano has also helped us acquire Italian SIM cards for our phones, Italian language books for my teacher here, and even taken me to specialty stores to get some of those hard to find things that I wanted to buy. His prices are very fair, and he is not a “clock watcher” usually giving us way more time than he’s supposed to. Viviano has a beautiful new black Mercedes sedan for up to 3 people or a minivan that can hold up to 8 people. I recommend Viviano (and Windows on Italy) to my clients here in Hawaii ALL the time!!! Thank you Windows on Italy for helping us create such wonderful memories of our annual stays in our beloved Firenze! "

Regarding the towels each apartment is provided with two sets per person - towels/sheets. There is usually plenty for people staying less than 10 days. We provide more linen as an extra. The stendino would have been located in the top room where the washing machine is. If it was missing then if you had notified the office one would have been brought round to you the same day.

It is a truly amazing apartment! The 20 foot ceilings in the lounge and dining rooms created a unique feel. There was a lot of space and storage and very unique archictecture too. The building and the apartment were exactly as the website described. The furnishings were definitely very impressive for a rental property. Auto lighting in upstairs bedroom would sometimes come on on its own. The loung area was amazing - enormous feeling of space. The washing machine was a little too difficult to understand (but there were instructions)! Restaurants: I definitely reccommend Buca Lapi - sensational food and service!

Our group consisted of 4 small families. We were able to walk all over Florence at all times of the day knowing we were always close by. The apartment was large. The bedrooms and attached bathrooms were also spacious. Finally the building is also very clean.

      Wonderful for the whole family!

Left on 07/15/2009 for a stay in July 2007

Our whole family (3 couples, 1 grandmother,& 5 children) rented this home for the month of July along with another apartment in the same building. The apartment was very spacious and had a high quality of furnishings. The bedroom configuration was good for married couples and two of the rooms had there own wing so it was good for a family with children. I have worked with Windows on Italy for years and they are very professional, helpful and friendly. The location is amazing, right in the middle of everything in Florence. Noise can be an issue but that is the price you pay for being in the center of Florence. The air-conditioning is great and since you can close the windows this cuts down on noise.
Because of the size everyone had a lot of privacy and the common rooms were large enough to hold a big group if we were entertaining. I don't know of another rental available with as much size and open space. The restaurant right downstairs is very good and also has a casual pizza section in the evenings.

      Our home away from home

Left on 05/04/2009 for a stay in October 2008

I've rented the Brunelleschi every year for 3 years now, and it's truly become our home when we visit Firenze. I was never into apartment rentals before and always preferred 4-5 star hotels, but after my first experience with this property and the wonderful staff of Windows on Italy, I've become a convert. As accurate as the description & photos of this property are, we could never imagine the magnificence and how well stocked the Brunelleschi was.

The Brunelleschi is perfectly located in Santa Croce close to everything. Our favorite grocery store Standa is close by with many other wonderful shops along the way to stock your refrigerator. We found flower shops, delicatesens, a dry cleaner, and even two 99 cent stores along the way to Standa to purchase candle votives, flower vases, and utensils that we used in the apartment to personalize the ambiance. To top it all, my favorite gelato is right next door at Vivoli!

Being on vacation, we usually dine at all of the wonderful restaurants around the area (especially "La Giostra"), but on this last trip we decided to prepare 2 dinners in the apartment. The kitchen is well stocked with almost everything you need and it was very special to finally use the beautiful formal dining room. The experience made us feel as if we were at home in our own apartment in Firenze! It's also prompted us to schedule Italian cooking classes 2 blocks away from the palazzo on our next visit this October 2009 when we return to our beloved Brunelleschi!

I recommend the Brunelleschi highly, but if you don't need 4 bedrooms, our other favorite unit in the Palazzo Salviati is the "Fiesole" unit. I believe the Fiesole has 3 bedrooms/2 bath, and the PRIVATE roof top terrace is magnificent and breathtaking!

We spent four weeks in this gorgeous space. The location is very
convenient. A reasonable walking distance to most sights and
restaurants and shopping. Good neighborhood restaurants, a small
      food market across the street.
The staff of Windows on Italy are wonderful, very attentive, respond
quickly to the slightest problems. It was never difficult to reach them.

      Great family experience

Left on 03/23/2009 for a stay in March 2009

Our extended family rented the Brunelleschi--a spacious and elegant 4 bedroom Florence apartment. The purpose of our trip was to celebrate my parents' 50th. No other location could have created the same memories. The high vaulted ceilings, cozy kitchen, privacy of bathrooms and bedrooms and large communal living space enabled us to enjoy one anothers' company while still having private time. We were within walking distance of wondeful restaurants, stores and sites.

Our only issue was the night time noises--so we wore our ear plugs and ipods to sleep!

Still the spot and service were fantastic--creating memories of a lifetime.

Thank you for your positive comments on your stay in the apartment Brunelleschi - we are always pleased to receive feedback from our clients as it is our aim to try to maintain our high standards of service to guests and wherever possible, improve them too. Regarding the noise at night, you may have heard some people leaving the Theatre on Via Verdi or people walking back towards Piazza Signoria from Santa Croce. The road Vigna Vecchia is fairly traffic free so it should only have been "people" noise you heard. In any case, we will take note of your comments and update the description about the apartment on our website. We look forward to welcoming you back to Florence in the very near future.
