Miami, FLWonderful and spacious apartment close to major attractions
Left on 07/06/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We had a wonderful but short stay in Florence and enjoyed using Buonarroti as our home base. The apartment is well located, within a 20 minute walk of nearly all of the major attractions in Florence. It is just on the other side of the river from the main historical/tourist area. Finding an apartment with air conditioning was a necessity for our group but we were concerned when we discovered we were there during a heat wave with temperatures in the upper 30s. The air conditioning, plus a fan, kept the apartment cool enough to be comfortable. It was a big plus to have the common area and the kitchen. Had it been cooler we would have made more use of the terrace!

Left on 05/26/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My two friends and I stayed in the Buonarroti apartment for three weeks. The location was ideal, just far enough away from the crowds but also close to restaurants, groceries, everything we needed. The kitchen was well equipped, the living room and bedrooms quiet and comfortable and the balcony, although a little noisy, was where we started and ended every day. Windows on Italy was very professional to deal with, from the booking of the apartment through to check-out.

Nice apartment in a wonderful location
Left on 11/02/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We stayed in this apartment in March. There were six of us including 2 small children. The apartment was well-equipped. We liked the fact that the apartment was divided into 3 sleeping areas giving privacy to those sleeping at different times. We only used the terrace once as weather was usually cool. We were in the building with the mgt. co., so that was convenient when we needed help with something. Also, a maid came in and cleaned the unit each Saturday. Having an elevator in the building was helpful with the children as we were on a high floor. Many rentals in Florence do not have elevators.
We loved best being in the oltarno area. There were good restaurants nearby, a gelateria and a pastry shop a block away. Restaurant prices were so reasonable in that area compared to the main tourist areas. Gelato for example was incredibly cheap and good. Little kids had it almost every day. Even though we were on the other side of the river, we could walk to everything. There were also some small groceries close by, as well as bakeries, wine shop, cheese shop, etc. within a few minutes walk.
We would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would enjoy renting this unit or another in the area again from this company.
The apartment was usually quiet except on weekend nights when there was some noise in the street, but not enough to cause any problem.Response from Windows on Italy - 11/07/2011

Left on 09/16/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The apartment was very comfortable, clean and well equipped. It was in a good location, within walking distance to museums, restaurants, and shops. It was noisy at night. There is a bar that was open until 2 in the morning with loud parties. There were mosquitoes in the apartment, so the windows needed to be closed. We had a repair man come I to the apartment without knocking on the door, while we were inside.

Left on 08/30/2011 for a stay in July 2011
This is a very apartment, a bridge away from all the action in the historical centre. A typical building with a huge wooden entrance door. I was amazed at how they fitted a three sided lift to this old building! The apartment is in different levels giving extreme privacy to all its occupants. A nice balcony overlooking other buildings, a fantastic place to chill at night. Bedrooms really good, each with its own WC and showers and a big common area with flat screen TV and satellite reception. Wifi avaiable within the apartment. Kitchen area OK, not fantastic. Apartment is within historical area so no access to cars 07.30-19.30. Obviously a bit tricky to find a parking place in such an area. Taxis have no problem at any time. There is a bar(coffees and snacks), a bar(alcohool), pizza place, mini market, restaurant and an ice-cream place within 20metres and fantastic atmoshpere with the people hangin around in the evening. Overall, we had a fantastic time there.

We stayed two weeks at Buonarotti and had absolutely no complaints. Great layout, location, helpful staff (downstairs). There were four of us staying and it worked perfectly for everyone to have private space and public gathering space. I don't think the website does enough justice to the terrace, which is large and gives you a bird's eye view of the Santo Spirito bell tower. The location is one block from Ponte Carraia which makes getting to the heart of the city very easy. All in all, un appartamento perfetto!

Left on 03/24/2011 for a stay in February 2011
This apartment was perfect for the six of us. I was traveling with my 3 sisters, niece and close friend. We spent 12 nights in the apartment. I can't say enough good things about it. The 3 bedrooms with their private bathrooms were all on different floors so we had privacy and no noise. Both showers worked great and had plenty of hot water. The beds were all very comfortable. We also loved the fact that we could all sit down in the living room (there are 3 couches) and at the dining room table. We were there in February so it was very cold, but the apartment was always nice and warm. The location couldn't have been better, just across the river in the Oltrarno. This location is only 5 minutes walking to the Ponte Vecchio but away from all the crowds. This side of the river also has some great restaurants and many interesting shops. I would recommend this apartment to anyone.

The apartment we stayed in was such a pleasant surprise. The rooms are spacious and each bedroom had a bathroom attached. The living area was very generous and the kitchen fabulous. There was even a private outdoor patio for meals. The entire place was charming!. Also, very close to all the Firenze has to offer so transportation is not necessary unless driving out of the city. The only suggestion I have is for more cleaning supplies to be available - liquid soap for the kitchen etc. Thank you for a great experience!

Portland OregonGreat for a group of adults
Left on 04/28/2010 for a stay in April 2010
We traveled to Florence with our two grown children earlier this month. The apartment is in a great area and perfect as a place away from the fray of Florence. The layout of the apartment is perfect for a group of adults - the position of each of the bedrooms provides enough privacy, while the living room is roomy and comfortable.
For the downsides:
*The kitchen is well stocked but the lighting makes cooking in the evening nearly impossible
*When we arrived there was one dishtowel provided. After the one cleaning (only 2 days after our arrival) that one dishtowel disappeared and we never got another
*There are no paper products - paper towels or paper napkins
*The washing machine is not an asset. We got one load in but could not get the machine to release for at least a full day. It claims to dry but really doesn't. Don't rent this apartment if a washer/dryer is a big requirement. There is a laundromat a few blocks away but be prepared for each load (wash/dry) to run about 15 euros.
*Master bedroom (off the middle landing) bathtub/shower is really narrow and slippery. Be very careful.
*There is a hide-a-bed in the living room. After removing the cushions, the volume of dirt was so disgusting that we would not use it.
*My kids found bugs in their bed that looked like very large bedbugs. They didn't get bitten but it did freak them out (which prompted the look at the hide-a-bed).
Even though the office is in the building of this apartment, don't expect gracious service. When we went to the office to make sure we were all set to check out, they acted as if they didn't even know who we were. And I know we were the only ones in the building at the time.
Cleaning service is included but they will come only once and it may be the day or two after you arrive. Linens are not plentiful.
All said, this is a nice apartment in a great location.Response from Windows on Italy - 01/12/2011
Manager
Dear Lisa,
Thanks for your review on Buonarroti. Unfortunately the apartments are not supplied with paper towels or napkins but if you think that we could improve on this then I can confirm that your comments have been passed on. The washing machine takes up to 2 hours but it depends on what temperature and program you selected. If you use the dryer part then it can take longer but not all day!! The dryer part does not work too well as it is a combined machine. The clothes never come out fully dry. That is one of the drawbacks. There is no hide-a-bed in the living room but just 3 standard sofas. Please provide more information on the bedbugs you found?? Were they mosquitoes? Did you inform us of this during your stay? The bed linens and mattress covers are changed before every arrival. The cleaning service is offered once a week (every 7 days) so it is normal for it to be after 3 days after arriving at the apartment. Regarding linens we provide one full set per person. If you had required more linens then it would have been no problem for you to stop by at the office and they would have been provided.
If we had known sooner about these negative aspects you mentioned maybe we would have been able to find a solution whilst you were here to make your experience a more positive one. I am sorry for the inconveniences you noted.
We hope to hear from you again in the future.
Regards

Staff was wonderful, from our arrival (after weekend call from the train station) to our departure (with their advance call for an early taxi to the airport the next morning). The apartment was outstanding: roomy, light and airy, comfortable furniture, fantastic internet connection, well equipped kitchen, great tv channel selection, nice terraza, and fantastic internal ambiance of entire building. Great location half block from the Arno and easy walking distance to Ponte Vecchio, Duomo, Piazza della Signoria/Uffizi, etc. Only disappointment was nothing to do with Buonarotti (Piazza Santo Spirito a little seedy right now, and overall Firenze graffiti a big, negative change from last visit). But don't be deterred by that! It's still Firenze!!
Response from Windows on Italy - 01/29/2010

Thank you so much for leaving your comments about your stay in Buonarroti. I agree with you regarding what you wrote about Florence - it has changed a lot throughout the past few years. Fortunately Piazza Santo Spirito is not on a direct route from the apartment to the main tourist attractions in Florence so the area is very easy to avoid. Your right though - Florence is still Florence! I have been living here for over 3 years now and I love every bit of the city and lifestyle here in Italy. We look forward to seeing you again on a future visit. Thanks Anna Rostron Windows on Italy

Left on 01/05/2010 for a stay in October 2009
this was the second time we rented an apartment in magnificient firenze, italia. our previous apartment was at via gucciardini, may '07. this time i wanted to be out of the frey. the location of the buonarroti was perfect! it was a neighborhood and gave the true native experience. comparing the two experiences is difficult when both vacations were successful. however, there were are a couple of things lacking for us this time. it started with the "greeting". it was obvious that Alessandro had bigger and better things to go on to. we felt ourselves stumbling a bit without the benefit of being able to access personal contact until that Monday. the apartment itself is lovely, but compared the to other did not have a very well equipped kitchen. I think succinctly said, the service with this agency was not as personal and willing to help as Windows on Italy, with the exception of Anna Rostron who was very helpful. Additionally, I'm confused with the "housekeeping staff". It didn't appear as though they had done anything and I questions what they were doing in our apartment for that amount of extended amount of time. All in all, I would rate this a very successful vacation. I am an American of Italian decent.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. I am sorry that the Check In person you met that day did not seem very helpful during the initial greeting. Since you came we have been able to find someone who spends as much time necessary with clients to show them around the apartment offering expert knowlegde of the city too and so far it is proving a great success. Thank you for your personal comments regarding myself - I am simply doing my job!! You are not the first person to mention the housekeeping staff and now we have employed another person who carries out frequent checks on what our cleaning staff do during the housekeeping services included in the price.
I do hope you are thinking of coming back to Florence and it would be a pleasure to meet you again.

Left on 07/30/2009 for a stay in July 2006
We stayed in a three bedroom 2.5 bath apartment across the Arno. The decor was tasteful and comfortable, and found all of the amenities we could have asked for in perfect working order, including: washer/dryer, a fully suppied kitchen, all linens, and stereo . The apartment was immaculately maintained. One afternoon we came back and interrupted the maid cleaning the apartment. With a wine store down the street, grocery store around the corner, and several great restaurants in the area, it was great value for money as we could stay in or dine out as we chose. You may want to stay in for breakfast and enjoy it on the terrace with the churchbells. Far less expensive and more comfortable that a hotel would have been for the five of us. It was in easy walking distance from the Museum of Science, Uffizi Gallery, the Ponte Vecchio, and numerous other sites. The train station was a bit further away, but not an unmanageble walk.
