It's a modern, comfortable , spacious and well fitted and furnished flat in the heart of the famous Chianti Hills.Placed in the modern area of a lovely medioeval village, but in a green residential area, ,midway between Florence and Siena.It's suitable for families ,or for those who want to spend a relaxing,or cultural holiday . The apartment is 110 square meters and consists in a small kitchen, a dining room ,a living room, a double bedroom, another bedroom with two single beds and an attic with two extra single beds. The apartment is situated in a green ,residential area in a medioeval village called S.Donato in Poggio. The village is placed in the Florence district ,20 km. far from the city and 28 km. from Siena . The area is the well known Chianti hills area. To spot it in the map ,look at the Tuscany map with specific reference to the southern part of the Florence province.There's a free car park just in front of the building.The bus stop is 100 meters from the property.The motorway entrance that connects the village to Florence ,Siena and all the other cities, is two Km. far from the property.A children playground is a few meters far from the property.

Our australian family of 2 adults and 3 children aged 12-15 enjoyed one week at this lovely apartment. Situated in a quiet street, in a relatively modern complex, we felt we chose the perfect Tuscan base to explore our enchanting surrounds.
The apartment was spacious and very well furnished. I was surprised that it had a lot more natural light than I had expected, which was wonderful. Security was excellent, as there were security systems for the front gate, main complex door and apartment door as well as electronic shutters outside the windows.
There was a small balcony, with washing machine, overlooking the street and a larger one at the rear which had lovely views of the countryside. All modern comforts, including free wi-fi, were supplied and Miranda was exceptional in her communications, flexibility and assistance before and during our stay.
San Donato itself is a charming little village and we enjoyed many wood fired pizzas from the local pizzeria, around the corner in Via Senese. Truly, the best pizza we have ever tasted!
Parking directly outside the apartment was convenient and easy to obtain. Being an apartment complex. there was occasionally some ambient noise from neighbours, but overall the street and whole village was very quiet, friendly and relaxing.
San Donato is a terrific base for exploring Tuscany. We especially loved our trips to San Gimignano, Florence, Monteriggioni, Siena, Pisa and even the Cinque Terre. Our best Tuscan experience by far, however, was our cooking class a few minutes drive away at "Castello della Paneretta" in Monsanto ( see our Tripadvisor review with photos) - one of the best days of our lives!

We arrived at the flat around 9:30 PM after a 3 hour drive from Venice and Miranda, the owner and landlord, was there to greet us, allow us time to get ourselves situated and walk with us to the main area of shops and restaurants. (We were starving!) She guided us to a wonderful restaurant that served wonderful, unique Tuscan Italian dished, but amazing pizzas as well, including one with a pumpkin cream toping that my 19 year old daughter dubbed, "the best I've ever had anywhere". The town is delightful, the people very cordial and a relaxing atmosphere. It was a joy to casually dine until 9:30, 10:30, etc and see the community out in the streets walking their infants, talking and just enjoying life.
As for the apartment, it was stunning, with plenty of room and with a veranda that had a wonderful vista. We had occasion to eat on that veranda one evening and it was memorable.
There was a bit of a technical glitch with the wi-fi-it was not working the first couple of days, and Miranda was most apologetic and clearly it was out of her control, and it eventually worked...that said, we were there to relax and enjoy, not be "wired" 24/7.

Our traveling party of 6 could not have imagined a more perfect spot for our "base camp" in Tuscany! The small town with a few grocery stores, restaurants, and bars is not far off the main road between Florence and Siena, an excellent location for touring around this area of Italy. The apartment has a beautiful view on the verandah overlooking a winery with its grapevines and olive trees. There is plenty of room in the apartment, and the kitchen is well-equipped. Miranda was extraordinarily helpful before and throughout our stay, with "insider" tips for touring around. I think we all wish we were still there!

We truly enjoyed our stay at this flat. It was comfortable, clean and well maintained. The location is also perfect. It is in the country, but only a short drive from Florence or Sienna. The village of San Donato is situated in a beautiful area and there are several shops and conveniences a short walk from the front door. Miranda, the owner was extremely helpful in every step of our pre-trip planning as well as while we were there. We would definitely stay there again.

This Condo is so happily situated in a quaint and quiet village. Convenient to visiting Siena and Florence within a shorts drive away. Miranda gave fantastic advice as to where to go and how to get there best, the only problem was...it was hard to break away from our comfortable setting.
After staying in Chianti and Venice, seeing many sights along the way and eating as we moved on, the mocha cappuccino's and and pizza in this village were our favorites.
Miranda is a welcoming host and even helped with setting up tickets/passes ahead of our journey to see Michael angelo's David. We truly hope to return some day and reacquaint ourselves with Miranda and her charming home/village.Response from Miranda Matteucci - 03/31/2011

As much as we enjoyed our experience in San Donato, what stands out most was how incredibly accommodating and helpful Miranda was! We had several situations that could have been catastrophic without her help. She helped us locate our luggage that was lost somewhere between USa and Brussels, kept in contact with our son, who was stuck in a horrible snow storm in London, and helped us when our rental car was hit by a "hit and run" driver. We didn't mean to be so high maintenance, but unfortunately we had some hard luck while we were there. If Miranda had not helped us, our vacation may not have been as wonderful as it was! She helped remove our worry, and stress by being our "contact" person. Even with our "challenges", we really enjoyed our time in Italy. Miranda's touring recommendations and directions were most helpful. I have never had so many things go wrong on a vacation, yet still have such a wonderful time...Thanks to Miranda! I would highly recommend this rental, not only because it's beautiful, clean and spacious, but because you won't find anyone nicer to work with! Thanks Miranda and Happy New Year!

I'm happy anyway ,despite the troubles ,your holiday was good the same. By the way! I emailed you the day after you left ,to inform you about the contact I managed to have with the person whose telephone number belonged to . and I'm not sure you got my message. . He said , he didn't have anything to do with the scratch on the car and probably someone else had written and left the number on your car . He seemed honest and very sorry for his involvement in the situation.I hope you didn't have any consequences , or extra money to pay because of it and you had a good journey back to the States.When you want to come back I 'd be very happy to meet you again as you have really been excellent renters. My family of 5 spent a week in Miranda's flat in San Donato in Poggio. The apartment was very spacious and clean. Miranda was very helpful with directions and suggestions for touring Tuscany. The area is beautiful and the accomodations were perfect. The village of San Donato in Poggio is very convienent to the Tuscan hill towns and Florence. We had a wonderful stay and Miranda is a very gracious and helpful host. We are looking forward to our next visit.
