The area is very convenient, close to shops, restaurants and supermarkets, and a large underground parking lot is nearby.

Los Osos, CaliforniaA perfect home away from home in beautiful Florence!
Left on 05/14/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My wife and I stayed in this spacious, well-appointed apartment during april 2013. Everything we needed was provided by our exceptional host, Gabriele. We have travelled extensively throughout Italy, and this is one of the most comfortable, cleanest, and well-kept apartments we have encountered. Gabriele was a phenomenal host, and he had a bottle of wine ready to greet us when we arrived. He stopped by with cookies and treated us to gelato one evening. He is by far one of the nicest people we met in Florence.
This apartment is located in a quiet neighborhood within a 15-minute walk to the heart of the city. A parking garage is conveniently located just a few meters down the street if you choose to bring a car into the city. Overall, we give this 5 stars for a perfect stay! Grazie, Gabriele! -

Haddonfield, New JerseyPerfetto!
Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in March 2012
My daughter and I were fortunate to stay at Casa Iris during a beautiful spring week in March. The apartment is lovely and more than big enough for us (in fact, we said it would be more than big enough for our entire family of 6). It was clean, bright and well-furnished. It was wonderful to "come home" each night and have a spacious, comfortable place to relax.
The location was just what we were hoping for -- in a nice, quiet neighborhood but within walking distance of the center of Florence. The stop for the bus to the historic center was a 2-minute walk -- we took the bus several mornings (a quick 10 minute ride) but each night very much enjoyed the 20 minute or so walk back to the apartment.
There is a good-sized grocery store within a 5-10 minute walk which was great for us as we planned on cooking during our stay. The kitchen was well-equipped and we enjoyed using it. We also appreciated that the apartment was equipped with a dishwasher and washer, and was supplied with dish and laundry detergent as well!
The best part of Casa Iris was our gracious host Gabrielle. He was incredibly kind and helpful from our very first communication to our day of departure (even when I changed our arrival date a couple times!). And so thoughtful. As others have mentioned, there were delicious cookies and wine for us when we arrived -- but I think what my daughter and I most appreciated was that he provided not only an american coffee maker, but "American" coffee as well! He also took time to point out "how to get around" and where his family's favorite restaurants were and called during the week to make sure we didn't need anything.
I absolutely recommend Casa Iris and in fact very much hope to come back again someday with my daughter and my husband and three sons! -

Chicago, IllinoisSpacious accommodations
Left on 10/14/2012 for a stay in July 2012
My partner and I stayed at two of Gabriele's properties in Florence in June and July of 2012. While we preferred the first apartment (see Casa aurora, on this site), Casa Iris was an excellent value. Gabriele and his wife went above and beyond the call of duty to help us out. Kind, generous and welcoming, they loaned us extra cooking utensils, and actually brought over a private cell phone for my partner to use during a particularly difficult time. While I generally prefer to stay on the other side of the river in the Ultra arno, the apartment was perfectly located for our needs on this trip, and is close to groceries, markets and bakeries. It is especially spacious and with its three bathrooms and three bedrooms would make a fantastic accommodation for a family or group of friends. It was an excellent value for the money.

My husband and I truely enjoyed the very spacious, well equiped, comfortable apartment. The owners went above the call to make sure we had anything we needed from eateries, grocery, gilato and train info when asked. There were plenty of towels, kitchen supplies and even detergents. Gabriele greeted us with chocolates and a bottle of wine which was so perfect after a day of travel. The apartment is located outside the main hussle and bussle of the city. The bus line is very close but we walked everyday and enjoyed the locals and shops. We would enjoy coming back again! Thank you again Gabriele

Left on 07/29/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Gabriele was an extremely gracious host and Casa Iris was the perfect apartment for us. It was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. We also really appreciated the air conditioning as it was quite hot in Italy at the time. The apartment is a bit of a walk from the center of town but we learned to use the bus and would also walk occasionally. The restaurants that Gabriele recommended were excellent and he made our departure much easier by arranging our taxi. I was a little worried about booking off the internet but this was a very pleasant experience.

Houston, TXSpacious antique-filled apt in a lovely neighborhood
Left on 06/05/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Florence was our second stop in a tour of Italy and this was by far our favorite apt, more than enough room for our family of five. Gabriele was very helpful, mapping out restaurants and the grocery store. He also had a bottle of wine and some cookies waiting for us. As I mentioned in the title, it is incredibly spacious and filled with the most lovely antiques, felt very much like home and not a rental. Parquet floors and tall ceilings are reminiscent of NYC apts. Laundry was easy. I set a load to wash as soon as I awoke, hung it before we left and took it in after we returned from our day's activities. It was a hike to get upstairs everyday but just part of the whole Italian experience. :) If there's a down side it's that it is farther from the center than our other apts. However, if you figure out the bus routes ahead of time you'll save your tootsies some wear and tear. We can't wait to go back!

Left on 06/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012
Traveling with my two sisters it was wonderful to have 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. The apartment is very spacious and we loved having a dishwasher. Gabriele was the best host ever. We were late getting in as our luggage was lost, but he very nicely waited for us and carried our luggage up. He also saved us a couple of times during the visit. Once my sister left the coffee maker on and rather than having to exit our museum tour, we just called Gabriele and he had his family that lives in the building take care of it for us. The apartment is a 15-20 minute walk from the main tourist sites but we loved that feature. It was so quiet and one could sit on the terrace at night with a glass of wine and just relax.

This was one of the best vacation rentals we have ever stayed at. Gabriele was a perfect host and pointed us in the direction of some great restaurants.
We stayed as a group of two couples and one single and there was ample space for everyone. A great walk into the city center and in a very quiet neighborhood.
I would highly recommend this to anyone! -

Left on 04/26/2012 for a stay in April 2012
We are a family of 5 adults who decided to rent this apartment based on the many positive reviews, and we were not disappointed. Gabriele and Stephania were very friendly and gracious hosts. There was wine and cookies waiting for us, with maps and restaurant info. We also very much appreciated Gabriele coming over the day of our check out to help with our luggage and calling two taxis for us, not to mention the thoughtful gift of those delicious pastries. Grazie mille, Gabriele! The apt. is very charming and quiet. My son loved the loft room. Beds were comfortable, amenity details and lots of towels were a nice touch. The only issue we had was because we didn't have enough time to familiarize ourselves with the public buses, we had to rely on cabs quite a bit which was expensive. We had tried walking to town but trying to walk and orientate in the rain was a challenge! The only suggestions for improvement I would have is to provide a door mat and a rug in the living room. Otherwise, this was a perfect and wonderful stay! Hope to see you both again.

My Husband and I stayed in this lovely apartment with our 3 daughters ages, 24, 21 and 16. We loved it! Gabriele met us and helped us set up internet access (important for my husbands job), and gave recommendations for shopping and restaurants. The apartment was just what we were hoping for, a beautiful Italian apartment with a small balcony looking out on a typical Italian courtyard. The apartment was very clean. Three bathrooms are a big plus for 4 women. Even the basics were included such as american and Italian coffee, olive oil, laundry detergent and hairdryer. This is a wonderful way to feel part of the neighborhood.
The neighborhood was very quiet and about a 20 minute walk to the downtown area. Gabriele was very helpful with anything we needed. -

Casa Iris was so serene and perfect for us
Left on 03/29/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Before I tell you about the charming Casa Iris, I have to thank Gabriele and Stefania for being such lovely people and hosts... Gabriele e Stefania grazie di tutto.
Gabriele and Stefania are warm, happy, kind people and you are drawn to them immediately. I called Gabriele from the airport to let him know we were in Florence and we had arrived a little early, he actually came all the way to pick us up and bring us to Casa Iris.
Casa Iris is beautiful and serene. It was the first thing that struck me when we entered the home. It was a home, not an apartment, an actual home. The rooms are huge and airy, with high ceilings, beautiful and ornate. The exposed wood beams are a pleasure to see. The kitchen is big and sitting at the table with a simple cup of coffee is a pleasure I will never forget. Gabriele showed us the room up in the attic/loft which my eldest promptly claimed for it is the loveliest spot in the house. The view from the window is amazing. She was so so happy while in Florence, just being in that room and having a bathroom all to herself. I finally wanted to share it with her :-)
Gabriele gave us a most valued local map, took us to the grocery store, he was available all the time so I could ask questions and told us which bus to take where, booked a taxi for us on our trip out of Florence and did many more things we really appreciated.
The bedrooms are Tuscan style, simple, elegant and just the way I would want my bedroom to be and very much in Italian style - they let their simplicity speak volumes and allow people to draw in the culture and history without being overwhelming materialistic. I wish I could have stayed at Casa Iris a little longer and spent more time with Gabriele and Stefania. Wifi was perfect, the kitchen well stocked to cook like an Italian- and we really did cook. The grocery store- Esalunga, a mere 10 mins away and it has everything you need. The bathrooms were amazing and the linen was so fresh. I loved everything about it.
The apartment is very central and safe. Gabriele's inlaws live in the building also. I/we walked everywhere till we could not feel our feet, that is Florence, you must walk to fully experience the city. I sometimes walked twice a day, we cross the Piazza della Repubblica on to either Via Cavour to get to the accademia or Piazza San Marco or if you stay on Via San Gallo - you walk all the way down to the San Lorenzo markets and then the Uffizi. Either way you are led to the centre of the city and it is an incredible sight.
Last but not least, we will never forget the kindness with which Gabriele and Stefania treated us, especially my daughter who has food allergies. You are special people.
We will be back to see you and spend more time in Firenze.

Very friendly owner (thank you Gabriele) also helped with food and transportation advice. Very clean and comfortable apartment and exactly as shown on the website and in good working order. We were a family of 4 and the two bathrooms are a real plus. Immediate area is a quiet and safe neighbourhood. Shops, bars and restaurants to hand. The center is a brisk walk (20min+) but easily done if generally fit. Buses and taxis also close and reasonable prices. On second floor, no lift

The moment we arrived at the apartment the owner (Gabriele) made us feel like we were family visiting his home. We arrived about 40 minutes earlier than expected and when we called Gabriele he had his father-in-law run down and let us in early so we didn't have to wait on the street. The apartment was amazing: nicely furnished, full kitchen stocked with all the utensils you needed, washing machine, nice size bedrooms/bathrooms, large living room with a big flat-screen TV, wireless internet, a balcony, and he even had a large bottle of water & a bottle of wine waiting for us. Gabriele could not have been more helpful. We needed a coverter plug for the electrical outlets and without even asking he ran out quick and got us one. He showed us resturants on our map, booked a car to take us to the airport, and even setup reservations for dinner our last night in town. The next time we visit Florence we will certainly be staying in one of his apartments again.

Casa Iris was the perfect vacation rental for us. (2 couples)The home is beautifully decorated, secure and boasts many "updated" features for florence like wifi and an entertainment system. The home was secure, quiet and each couple felt like we had privacy. The owner is extremely gracious and helpful; he made the entire process seamless from booking to check-in and check-out. He also provided great advice on restaurants and getting around Florence. If possible, I will stay here on all future visits to Florence.

The suite met our needs perfectly. We were 4 women friends joining company in Florence. We were happy to find a place emaculately clean, with basic but sufficient supplies, bright and cheerful. The suite is located in a quiet neighbourhood, within easy distance of public transportation, good restaurants and ammenities.
We were able to easily set foot on our daily adventures to take in the sites and ambiance of Florence. Nicely updated the suite had a lovely kitchen which was important criteria so we could experience shopping from the local market and recreate fresh Italian cuisine ourselves. As 4 women we appreciated having 2 complete bathrooms and spacious bedrooms with qn. beds. The sitting room and kitchen offered equally comfortable surroundings where we could plan the days adventures and do our research with on the wireless internet.
We also enjoyed overlooking the courtyard and the the rear and the late afternoon/eve sun in the living room. There was even a concert every evening in what we think was a community centre, that had a courtyard amphitheatre. While we could not see but enjoyed the contemporary music before our lights went out.
Gabriele his wife were very hospitable and thorough and provided any additional information we needed and even offered to arrange transportation if necessary. There was even fresh flowers and a bottle a wine upon our arrival. How good is that!
The stay in Florence was wonderful and this place absolutely was perfect for us and would highly recommend it to others.

Left on 07/14/2011 for a stay in July 2011
My wife and I booked Casa Iris for our 15 day stay. We were not disappointed. Communication from Gabriele was quick and informative. We arrived at the airport in Florence & called Gabriele to let him know. He told that there was a delay in getting into the apartment until it could be cleaned. He then offered to pick us up at the airport. He took us to the apartment just to drop off our luggage. Next, he treated us to espresso at a nearby café and pointed us in the direction of the Duomo. Shortly after that, he called to say the apartment was ready. Gabriele met us on the corner and walked with us. He showed us how to work everything including the Wi-Fi. Casa Iris is just a wonderful, spacious, clean and well-appointed apartment. It had everything we needed. Gabriele & Stefania even left a bottle of wine, some cantuccini and bottled water for us. We loved the little balcony/terrace right off the kitchen. We enjoyed relaxing there with a glass of wine. There is a very nice supermarket, Essalunga, a few blocks away, that we went to almost every day. We prepared several of our meals in the fully equipped kitchen. Also, there are 2 very convenient atms on the way to the supermarket. Gabriele told which busses/stops were nearby and where to buy the tickets. There are restaurants nearby, along with a post office and bus stops. After getting used to the sounds of the city (we live in rural Vermont), we thoroughly enjoyed the air-conditioned apartment. We loved the neighborhood, and the non-touristy feel of the area around Piazza della Liberta. It is Italy! Casa Iris was an ideal base for all of our travels: less than two miles to the train station, the accademia, the Uffizi and the Duomo. And hundreds of restaurants, trattorias, osterias and cafes. We walked everywhere from the apartment. We highly recommend Casa Iris. Our hosts, Gabriele & Stefania, couldn't have been more accommodating, friendly or helpful. Book one of their apartments with confidence.

Gabriele met us in the apt and told all we liked to know, including the nearby supermarket and restaurants, even the Chinese cuisine. The apt is spacious, clean and comfortable. We recently visited Florence for a week and couldnt have been happier with our stay at Casa Iris. Our expectations were blown away the minute we stepped in the front door and were welcomed by Stefania (Gabriel's wife) who was there to provide us with keys and walk us through the apartment.
The apartment itself is very spacious and decorated with just the right amount of furniture to make your stay comfortable. There are 2 bedrooms (+ a smaller 3rd one upstairs) and 2 bathrooms -- perfect for our party of 2 couples. They have all the amenities you could ask for including a washer which is especially convenient when you're traveling and trying to pack light.
We also really appreciated the location -- close enough to access all the major sights but far enough to feel peace of mind when you return from a full day of sightseeing. A nice 10-15 walk will get you to the Duomo and all the other attractions but there are bus stops close by if you're not big on walking. I loved staying in the neighborhood because i felt like i had a chance to live in Florence as opposed to just visiting. A cafe down the street, a major supermarket a few blocks away, a little park, and many places to eat made our stay really pleasant.
We enjoyed Casa Iris so much that we extended our stay there for an additional 2 nights. Gabriel was very helpful and accommodating and I really couldnt have asked for a better contact in Florence. He made sure all of us were comfortable and happy during our time there. It truly felt like a home away from home and I would definitely stay there again. -

This was a excellent place! Nice quiet neighborhood, away from most other tourists, but still an easy 15 minute walk or quick bus ride to city center. The apartment owner/manager, Gabriele is the nicest guy in the world. He and his wife Stefania met us when we checked in, and were both super friendly. They gave us lists of restaurants, markets, etc. even advise on how to spend our time there. When we left, Gabriele even gave us a lift to the train station, and stopped off to show us one of the spots we missed seeing. I'd go back there in a minute - Thanks again G+S!

Left on 04/17/2011 for a stay in April 2011
When booking our trip to Florence I read reviews of many places and was really impressed with the reviews that were given to another apartment owned by Gabriele and Stefania so I contacted them to check availability. That property was booked but Casa Iris was available. Staying in this apartment really made our trip to Florence special. From the moment we met Gabriele and Stefania and walked into the apartment we felt comfortable and relaxed, like we were at a home a away from home. The apartment is beautifully decorated, has tons of light and is very spacious and clean. There were 4 of us staying there and there was more than enough room. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped. Florence was only one stop on our 5 city European vacation so we were only there for 3 nights but I wish we could have stayed longer. On top of the place itself being perfect, Gabriele was an extraordinary host. He sat down with us and answered all of our questions and gave us suggestions about where to eat and shop and what to see. He even left a bottle of wine for us and then drove us to the train station when we left. He really went above and beyond any of our expectations. The apartment is about a 10-15 minute walk away from the action which was very refreshing for us. It was nice to stay in a neighborhood that wasn't full of tourists. There is a decent grocery store and some great restaurants within a few blocks. I highly recommend this apartment and look forward to returning some day.
