Left on 04/18/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Muchas gracias otra vez, Ale y Filippo.
Ciao Ciao!

Alessandra the owner was friendly and so helpful.. She helped us to carry our heavy luggage for about 4 sets of stairs.
The rooms was nice and clean. Good value for money.
Not that excited about the stairs but that was the problem in old buildings in Florence. -

Tunbridge WellsThe only place to stay in Florence.
Left on 10/08/2012 for a stay in February 2012
The apartment was excellently equipped and the reception we were given couldn't have been more helpful. Even though it was sub-zero outside, the apartment remained a haven of warmth and comfort. There are plenty of shops and eating places nearby, it is well served by buses, and is within walking distance of the middle of Florence. In short, I can't think why anybody would want to stay anywhere else.

TexasGreat, Convenient apartment
Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We only stayed in Florence for 1 night, but really appreciated this apartment. It was very clean and there was plenty of room for 3-4 people. We didn't get to cook anything, but it was nice to see that the kitchen and living room were separated. We were able to walk from the apartment to the Doumo in about 30 minutes. Also, from the SMN train station, it was only about a 10 minute taxi ride to the apartment. The apartment is situated in a neighborhood with clothing stores, grocery stores and restaurants nearby. The bus stop was also just a block away.
The owner alessandra was great also. We ended up arriving to the apartment 30 minutes late and asked our cab driver to call her to ensure that she would meet us up and she did. She helped us carry our luggage up the two flight of stairs. She also had a prepaid cell phone set up for us in case we needed it. In addition, there was free wi-fi in the apartment.
This apartment and the owner was great. We have no compliants :) One thing to note is that the apartment has two levels. The bathroom and 2 bedrooms are upstairs, and the stairs are a bit narrow, but I believe there are handrails.
Thanks alessandra! -

Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We received excellent service. Alessandra was at the apartment to meet us, help us with maps & gave us a local mobile phone to call her, if needed. We arrived by train from Venice straight to Campo di Marte station - a stones throw to the apartment. Alessandra and Filippo could not have been more helpful and friendly. I travelled with my daughter & her husband, & found the apartment to be very spacious, comfortable, clean, & with all the necessary conveniences to make it our home for 8 days. We loved the fact that we were in a neighbourhood but only 20 mins walk to the city centre & all the attractions that Florence has to offer. A supermarket & deli in our street proved to be most convenient. We cooked some simple but delicious meals from recipes given to us by the friendly owner of the deli where we bought fresh pasta & ravioli. Daughter & hubby enjoyed drinks & an array of finger foods for the price of a drink from the aperitivo bar in our street. I, unfortunately, caught a virus in Venice but it was no bother for a doctor to visit me in the apartment in Florence. What I liked best is the spaciousness, and privacy from each other with our own comfortable rooms upstairs & kitchen, dining & living areas downstairs. The free wifi was great when we had to locate a doctor who could visit me at home. The only downside, which did not bother us, are the narrow stairs leading up to the bedrooms. They could be a problem for the elderly.

MAPhenomenal Stay
Left on 01/21/2012 for a stay in November 2011
I had the very good fortune to stay in this apartment for two weeks in November. I have traveled extensively and rented in many areas of Europe. This apartment is spotlessly clean, very well furnished and located in a wonderful residential neighborhood. Alessandra and Filippo are great landlords and respond quickly both before and during your visit. Alessandra even purchased fresh organic fruit and the new olive oil for us to try. The photos are true depictions of what you will find in the apartment. It is furnished as a real home with original pieces of art and nice furniture. The bathrooms are new and a pleasure to use. There are many restaurants in the area and lots of fun shopping. I did walk downtown a number of times, but I love to walk- if you do not, there are numerous bus stops in the area. As you can read, I highly recommend this apartment.

Left on 08/23/2011 for a stay in July 2011
For the best experience of having a lovely place to stay and the luxury of a well appointed apartment with style, this is the place. When I travel I like to have some independence to cook for myself and to feel like I have come "home" at the end of the day. This is the place. If and when I return to Florence I will hopefully be staying here again. The location is perfect for easy walking access to downtown, or to take the bus. There are supermarkets close by in which the staff are only too happy to help and great little cafes around where the locals greet you like a regular after just one visit. The apartment exceeded my expectations and both alessandra and Filippo were impeccable hosts.

San Francisco, USAWhat a lovely apartment!
Left on 08/08/2011 for a stay in June 2011
My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at apartamento ad arte. Filippo was incredibly nice and helpful when we arrived, showing us around the place and letting us know about nearby stores, restaurants, and other conveniences. The apartment is beautiful--a contrast of interesting older details like the tile floors and more contemporary features in the beautiful artwork, furniture, and updated bathrooms. They really thought of everything we might need--even an Italian cell phone so we could text or call them in a pinch! It was a wonderful change from the hotels that we would normally stay in; much more space, but without added cost.
The location of the apartment is very good. It's a nice, direct walk to the sites closer to the arno--about 20 minutes to the Duomo. We liked walking so we didn't try to take the bus, but if you didn't want to walk I think the bus would be quite convenient. We liked that the apartment is far enough away from all the sites that you don't feel quite so touristy all the time. There are groceries, restaurants, a pharmacy, and laundry all within just a block or two, and it felt like a safe neighborhood as well.
We were traveling with friends (all adults) for part of our visit, so it was two of us in the apartment for part of our stay and four for the rest. The apartment was perfect for our group; it had plenty of room for everyone. Especially convenient was the extra half-bath downstairs. The kitchen is compact but has everything you might need--even a salad spinner! We cooked dinner there a couple of nights and had breakfast every morning as well.
We would absolutely recommend this apartment for anyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in Florence. We really felt like we got to have a unique experience by staying here. -

Long Island, NYWe didn't want to leave...
Left on 08/02/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Room: 2 bedrooms on upper floor. one room is spacious, one is small but adequate. Lots of space in wardrobe. There is a small terrace between the rooms but the ventilation wasn't very good since my father smoked with all the windows to the rooms closed but the smoke seemed to linger on the terrace instead of escaping up!
Cleanliness: very clean. No complaints at all.
Location:This apartment was located northeast of the city center. We walked home one night from the ponte vecchio and it took about 45 mins and hot. (middle of summer) The rest of the time we took the bus and it wasn't bad since there were many bus stops close to the street.
Staff/owner: Alessandra was wonderful and answered emails and phone calls quickly (when we couldn't figure out how to use the stove!)
A/C: No a/c but there were 3 or 4 fans available. There aren't many places in Florence that do have air conditioning so I guess this is the norm. Coming from america where almost everyone has central a/c it was a little uncomfortable at time, but I think it it were any other time of the year it would have been absolutely fine.
Tv: There is a tv in the livingroom but no channels in English.
Breakfast:Since there was a full kitchen, we were able to go to the grocery store and get things to cook so it was very convenient.
Internet: free wifi but it was spotty and kept kicking us off. Was a little annoying but I was glad it was available.
Security:n/a
Linen/Towels: included
Parking: We parked on the street outside the apartment and didn't have to pay since it was the weekend.
Remarks: The owner left a mobile phone for us to use with 5e credit and that was really helpful and we appreciated it! I would definitely have no hesitations recommending this apartment to friends of family visiting Florence. There are closer places to the city, but not many that will feel so much like home. Everything was really new and clean and we felt very comfortable. The half bathroom downstairs was great. I would recommend this apartment to anyone, except those with disabilities since there are a lot of stairs, and even 1 flight inside the apartment! -

Good: Clean, spacious 2nd floor apartment. It has the basic amenities like TV, DVD player, music system, tea, coffee, etc. Wine bottles are provided with an additional cost. The care taker, Alessandra is a lovely lady & provides you with all the necessary information. The map is also provided. The location is 10 minutes’ walk from the Campo di Marte station & is close to other shops.
Bad: There was no mirror in either of the bedrooms or in the lounge. There was one mirror in the bathroom (one) upstairs (which is not attached). There is one toilet downstairs. As mentioned earlier the apartment is in the second floor (with a fair bit of stairs) & no lifts, so might be difficult for some. The bathroom window does not have a curtain, so, we had to put a towel outside! It looked like there was a terrace outside & my Mrs mistook a shadow for men & screamed!!
The biggest drawback was that they did not accept cards (although they take deposit through bank transfers!)
Advice: It’s not a bad option as it has good access to train stations. Alessandra told me that they would put mirrors in the room & regarding the bathroom window, she assured me that no one could peep as it was a roof! Wherever they don’t accept cards, I am not a big fanResponse from Filippo and Alessandra Viana - 05/08/2011
Owner
Dear guest,
yes, no mirrors in the bedrooms, but there are two, one in each bathroom.
We never wrote that we provide two bedrooms with private bathroom each; we'd like to remind to our guests that we rent an apartment, not two rooms in an hotel, and a detailed description of how the apartment is set out is provided on the web site, we always suppose that our guests read it when they choose our accommodation.
As well, considering that it's not an hotel, all the amenities (tv, dvd, music system, music and moovies, books, guidebooks, wi-fi, coffee, tea, erbal tea, oil, sugar, pepper and so on...) are not basic, but just an added value to the service we provide.
Concerning your idea of curtains in the bathroom, we can promise that only spiderman can watch from any window of the house!
We do not accept cards because from the apartment you can easily reach in less than 50m more than 10 different ATM at you disposal, anyway, after your review we immediately activated PayPal, so, using the Wi-Fi connection (for free) inside the house, you can now easily pay with card.
Kind Regards

Ampthill, UKClassy apartment in Florence
Left on 04/26/2011 for a stay in April 2011
This smart, newly refurbished apartment is about a 30-minute walk to the centre of Florence (or use the regular local buses).
We were met on arrival by the owner, who had been very helpful on booking with queries etc.
The apartment is up a lot of stairs, and then once inside it is on two levels. On the lower level is a sparkling kitchen with everything you need (except a kettle, but I always bring my own). All the utensils, etc seem brand new. Also note there is not an oven, only a hob and a microwave. Next to this there is a toilet, and also a front room with TV and DVD. The free wi-fi access was useful for us.
Up the stairs there are 2 large double bedrooms, both comfortable, lovely linen. And another bathroom with shower - shower gel, soap, shampoo, toilet roll, provided. Lovely towels. There is also a tiny outside space where you can smoke.
If I was returning to Florence I would definitely stay here again. When you are renting privately, you are taking a leap of faith, but you needn't think twice about renting this place - you won't be disappointed.Response from Filippo and Alessandra Viana - 04/28/2011
