Spend your day shopping, sightseeing, or museum-hopping, and then take a short walk home to rest your weary feet at this characteristic apartment in the center of Florence.

This palazzo was constructed during the first half of the 14th century, at a time when Florence had begun to expand beyond the boundaries of the ancient Roman nucleus. It was commissioned by Messer Lapo, a member of the Aldobrandinis - a wealthy family who made their fortune in the spice business. At that ti...me, via delle Belledonne was a main commercial artery leading out of the city - it connected the Mercato Vecchio [market square] and via Strozzi to the Porta del Trebbio, the city door that opens a path to the north. In the 19th century, the palazzo housed several painters' workshops, including that of the celebrated artist Ingres. The artists' need for light is probably the reason why most of the apartments have very large windows.

[83m2] 1st foor [with lift]: The front door opens onto a short corridor which leads into the spacious and light living/dining room with coffered ceiling, terracotta floor and a large window overlooking the Antinori Garden and Palazzo. In the living room area, painted in trompel'oeil, there are two large sofas, one of which is a double sofa bed. Across the room is the dining table which seats six and to the right of that is the kitchen with oven and dishwasher. Close to the entrance, a long corridor leads to the master bedroom. Along it is a series of cupboards, and a window facing onto an internal courtyard. The master bedroom, which also overlooks the internal courtyard, has a double bed [can be made into two twin beds on request] and an ensuite bathroom with tub.

This Florence accommodation is one of several apartments in an elegant building located on a street called via delle Belledonne, close to the Duomo in Florence. Near this Florence vacation accommodation, one can find a baker, butcher, green grocer, coffee and pastry shops, hairdresser, dry cleaner, and a plethora of excellent restaurants. Extra Services: Maid Service can be arranged for 12 Euros per hour [includes cleaning supplies].

  We really had a great time and a great stay and no complaints whatsoever. I would happily stay there again, especially since it took me almost a week to find my way around Florence's maze of streets. Loved the city, the food, everything!
  
  The kitchen was very well equipped; the apartment was in excellent condition and extremely clean; the bed was very comfortable; and the location couldn't have been better, central yet quiet -just what was needed for a great sleep after a long day of walking and museums and shopping.
  
  The mosquitoes that seemed to show up in the evening.
  
  Everything! 5 minutes to the Duomo, 10 minutes to the Ponte Vecchio, 15 minutes to the Palazzo Pitti. And the designer clothing stores were great for window shopping. We had the best of locations.

  The building was very well maintained. If we return to Florence we would definitely rent here again. The apartment was well supplied with good quality china, linens, etc.
  
  Location was wonderful, close to everything yet on a quiet street.
  
  Lighting in living room was not adequate for reading.
  
  Everything. We considered ourselves to be in the best location in Florence.

  It was unseasonaly cold, which presented a problem, since there is no heat alowed by Italian law until Nov 1. However, they turned on the heat a week early, thank goodness, because i was freezling cold!,
  
  Location. Right around the corner from Copellia. Handy. On 1st floor so could walk up and down steps.
  
  Ceilings in living room were high, which made it cold.

  We loved the tall ceilings and the simple decor of this apartment!
  
  The sense of peace and space, of refuge really, in the center of a very busy city.
  
  We hated the white furniture. We had a kind of terror of staining it, and when we did try to clean up a spill, yellow from the cushions left a watermark. Thankfully we weren't charged for professionally cleaning the furniture, but we did spend an inordinate amount of time worrying about it.
  
  Via Delle Belle Donne and its easy access to a morning bakery and cafe.
