      Lovely apartment, perfect location

Left on 03/21/2012 for a stay in March 2012

Working with Lisa to book the Medici apartment was very easy and she provided us with plenty of information in advance so that we knew what to expect when we arrived. The apartment is as charming and well laid out as the photos show. The main bedroom had a very comfortable bed with pretty linens and decent quality pillows. Our daughter loved her room with its two twin beds and good reading light. Both rooms had ample storage with plenty of hanging space and drawers - something not always found in small European apartments. The living room was very comfortable with good seating and the kitchen was perfect with its Ikea style cabinets, dishwasher and fridge. It was very well equipped. We only made breakfast and snacks but it would have been easy to cook real meals. The bathroom was tiny, but there was plenty of shelf space for all our things, and a heated towel rail to keep lots of towels aired and warm. We loved all the natural light - morning and evening, the apartment was bright and cheerful. There is an outdoor terrace which would be lovely in the summer - too cold to use it when we were there in March. The location is perfect, at the end of a traffic free residential cul de sac. It was very quiet (apart from noise from a neighbor's scooter in the mornings. He seemed to like revving it up under our windows!) We had a car and had no trouble parking it on the street just a short walk away. The only problem was keeping enough change on hand to feed the meter. We walked into the centro several times and didn't mind the walk at all - we used the short cut described in the information provided by Lisa. The area was very nice, quiet, and felt completely safe. We were sad when it was time to leave.

      Fabulous Stay!

Left on 12/14/2011 for a stay in December 2011

This was my second trip to Italy and both trips I stayed in a property managed by Lisa Byrne and Italy Perfect. This apartment has it all! The apartment is very comfortable and fully-equipped. We were greeted by Francesca who gave us great tips on places to see and dine and we were even given a loaner cell phone to use throughout our stay. There is wireless internet service in the apartment and movies and books and maps; not one detail is overlooked! We were able to walk to the center of the city with ease from this location even though there were bus stops very conveniently located to the apartment. There is a great wine shop, specialty meats and cheese shops and a fantastic grocery store nearby. There was also a produce stand at the bottom of the hill for fresh produce daily. Try Mamma Gina's for dinner, we really enjoyed it. Also, check out Central Market in the morning for wonderful food and wine!

Nice apartment away from the center of Florence

Left on 12/12/2011 for a stay in November 2011

The Medici is a very nice two bedroom apartment in a residential neighborhood. You will feel like a local staying here but expect to walk or take a bus to the center of Florence. Having a fully stocked kitchen and outside patio area make this 10x better than a hotel room. Also, if your plan is to rent a car, street parking is available and easy.

Quiet Respite close to downtown Florence

Left on 09/30/2011 for a stay in September 2011

The best thing about the Medici apartment was the location. It was quiet and secluded, but still close enough for walking - just the thing we needed to get away from the crowds in the downtown area. We loved having our own patio. It felt like home. The local tree lined streets and parks were a welcome and rare find in the densely populated inner city.

Our greeter, Francesca was helpful and pleasant, particulary in assisting us take delivery of our lugggage that Luftansa managed to lose.

Italy Perfect provided us with lots of good information prior to our trip. Conveniences like grocery stores and restaurants were relatively close nearby and the area had the feel of a true Italian neighborhood. The restaurants in the Piazza Santo Spirito were our favourites.

The Medici apartment met our needs perfectly and we would recommend it to any of our friends

      Living in Florence

Left on 06/02/2011 for a stay in April 2011

The Medici apartment is a relatively spacious and well-equipped apartment located in a hilly, leafy residential neighborhood of Florence.

Since we were traveling with our two young boys (10 and 8 years old), we wanted a vacation home with a place to play, tucked away from the bustle of central Florence, and the Medici provided that.

It takes some planning if you wish to cook at home. First, you'll need to acquire all ingredients (including spices). Shops aren't located around the corner or down the street, but a good 15-minute walk with a return trip straight up hill. We also needed to adjust to the vagaries of Italian shop hours. That said, we made some pretty tasty meals. For eating out I'd recommend antica Porta on via Senese. Also, the Gelateria on the Porta Romana piazza was very good (and a good deal).

The 36 or 37 bus will take you just about anywhere you want to go. Piazzale Michelangelo is worth the view (#12 bus) -- and a nice walk back down the hill to the apartment. Learn when the short cut through the art Institute is open and closed (it will save a lot of time).

Francesca, our host, and Italy Perfect took care of everything we asked for. Should we visit Italy again, I wouldn't hesitate to call on them.

      The Perfect Florence apartment

Left on 12/31/2010 for a stay in November 2010

An excellent apartment in a perfect location to walk and see all of Florence. The description was very accurate and we were pleasantly met upon arrival. The apartment is within walking distance of all the "big sites” in downtown Florence. Never once, did we feel the need to take a taxi or bus to get downtown as it is only 20-25 minutes by foot to the center of town. We drove our vehicle and it was easy to find parking and then provided easy access (within 2 hours) to Siena and "The Chianti Road". The interior of the apartment is immaculately and professionally maintained; possesses a very comfortable and pleasant/relaxing atmosphere inside with the furniture/decor. As a result, we felt very comfortable inside unlike other apartments we've rented. We wouldn't hesitate to stay at this apartment again if we return to Florence someday. Highly recommended! Relaxing Florence Stay

Left on 12/14/2010 for a stay in November 2010

The Florence Medici apartment was so relaxing. We're active walkers so started each day with a long walk up to Piazzale Michelangelo for spectacular views. Greeter was very kind and helpful. The apartment is very nicely furnished and attractive. Lisa from Italy Perfect was very thorough in answering all our questions and prepping us for our trip. We are hoping to come back next year and stay here for a month-long stay, it's that kind of special apartment.

We spent 5 nights at the Medici apartment. It was perfect for our needs. Loved the terrace, nice location, quiet. We like to walk so took long walks up to Piazzale Michaelangelo every morning to take in the beautiful view. Guess that is how we managed to eat pasta every day and not gain weight. Apartment was so nicely furnished and the neighbors were friendly too, got a chance to practice my rusty Italian. We are hoping for a return stay at the Medici apartment next year. We also enjoyed very much our 8 night stay at your Pasquino apartment in Rome. Thank you for everything!

      Best of Florence

Left on 11/07/2010 for a stay in September 2010

We stayed at the Medici for two weeks. a delightful apartment in the heart of the Oltrano district. It is far enough away from the tourist frenzy of historic Florence but only a delightful bus ride away. A 20euro bus pass lasted us the whole time and allowed us to jump on and off and explore many other areas-don't miss Fiesole! The view of the old wall of the Boboli gardens in the afternoon sun is breathtaking.
You will be greeted by the most delightful gal, Francesca, who will provide a wealth of information.
The only caution is that you must be prepared to do a lot of walking as the shortcut to the bus at Porta Romana is through a park which has gates that close in the evening.
      Great kitchen as well!

We loved this location in Florence. Everything was within walking distance and we looked forward to walking through the park to the calm and quiet of the neighbourhood after a busy day in the city. The apartment is tastefully furnished and well equipped. Italy Perfect made sure the experience was positive - very organized. Having a personal greeter (part of the service) added to the experience. We were able to ask questions about directions, shopping and restaurants upon arrival (in English) and felt we always had someone to call. We have already recommended this accommodation to friends who plan to travel to Florence next year. We would definitely return to the Medici apartment.

Spending time with the people of Italy

Left on 07/03/2010 for a stay in May 2010

My husband, son and daughter in law and I spent four days in Florence. We are thrilled that we chose an apartment outside the walls of town. Everything about this choice of rental was absolutely perfect. We were sent excellent information about the apartment including everything we needed to know to have a wonderful time. It was so great to be in a real Italian neighborhood. After a day in the middle of Florence it was nice go back to this beautiful and so comfortable little home. Now that we are home and look back at our trip I wish we would have stayed here the entire 10 days. The best advice I can give is to read all the material that is sent to you when you book. It is so full of excellent information. Also, take good walking shoes. There are buses and taxi's nearby if you have a day you don't want to walk as much. We took a taxi to town one day but walked the others. The taxi was so easy to get and it was not expensive to get to the area of sights in Florence.

We spent two lovely weeks in the Medici apartment in Florence

Left on 11/10/2009 for a stay in September 2009

We spent two lovely weeks in the Medici apartment in Florence. The
charming flat was perfect for us (just 2 of us but could comfortably
accommodate 4 people.) We have rented apartments in Italy before--
Florence, Venice, Rome and the country side, and the Medici was one of the
nicest. Plusses included a very well- equipped kitchen, decent reading
lights and peace and quiet--no noise from the motorini as the Medici is
located in a peaceful, residential neighborhood with small private lanes and
gardens. We woke up with the bird song in the morning and looked out our
bedroom window at the old walls and tower of the Boboli gardens. The
terrace was an added attraction for dinner (but the mosquitos had their
dinner too)! Inside, the mosquito repellant devices worked very well. It was
a bit warm in Florence the first week we were there, but the Medici
apartment sits on a little hill and gets a beautiful cooling breeze--the
      apartment was always comfortable.

We love to cook, and enjoyed shopping for our dinner at the local vegetable
stand, the butchers and fish market on Via Sienese and the lovely
alementari in the neighborhood or near Santo Spirito. The neighbors were
charming, and since my husband speaks pretty good Italian, we were able
      to have some interesting conversations.

Their daughter lives above the Medici apartment and is a professional
flautist with the Florence symphony orchestra--her practice sessions were
like having our own private recital--no scales and mistakes, just beautiful
music. The only drawback to the apartment is that it is a bit of a walk to the
central part of Florence and coming back is up hill--so we sometimes took
the bus to save our feet--especially when carrying the groceries. We did
walk on most days which was good exercise and helped work off the gelato.
The short cut through the park is a lovely stroll. Italy Perfect is a well-run
company, the greeter and property manager were very cordial and helpful.
      The apartment was exactly a

being in Florence and want to come back again someday and bring perhaps
my brother or my niece and stay for a couple of weeks. We loved the location
and it was very easy for us to get taxi service, which was a real bonus for us. I
think you made arrangements for us personally and we thank you and all of
our taxi drivers who were kind, patient and best of all, great drivers. Also, I

      Our stay was just perfect

Left on 11/10/2009 for a stay in April 2009

Our stay at the Medici apartment was just perfect. The neighborhood,
Oltrarno, is part of Florence yet because it's just over the bridge, it was
much more low key and quiet. We loved the location next to a beautiful
garden and ancient brick wall. The apartment itself was very comfortable
for us and our two children (ages 10 and 13). They enjoyed all the movies
you furnished in the apartment - you'd think we'd be too busy for that -
but we would have full days of sightseeing and come back for a couple
hours of rest and a little TV time before heading out again. All the
information you provided was very helpful. The kitchen was nicely equipped
and we had breakfast at home every day and once, we made dinner. My
favorite activity was food shopping at the "supermercato" - the one close to
the Porta Romano. Your greeter, Francesca, was so helpful and explained
everything about the apartment, appliances, etc. As far as restaurant
recommendations - in our opinion, you cannot have a bad meal in
Florence!! Really, anywhere you walk into will have delicious food. We ate
most nights at trattorias in central Florence and had wonderful food
always!! One thing that surprised us is how early stores/gelaterias close for
the night. We feel that you do a fantastic job managing your apartments
and we would love to plan another trip to Florence and stay again at one of
      your apartments.

Simply wonderful for our 7 night visit to Florence

Left on 11/10/2009 for a stay in June 2009

The Medici apartment was simply wonderful for our 7 night visit to Florence.
Thank you Lisa for all your assistance during the planning stages of our
vacation and Francesca for welcoming us with a warm smile, the service we
received from Italy Perfect was exceptional.

The three of us ladies were comfortable in our own beds and we all thought
the shower was great! The kitchen had all the tools and even some supplies
to cook dinner, we cooked meals twice (fresh pasta with sausages from
mercato central, so yummy, and fresh chicken stuffed with herbs another
night). There are several little shops all around so shopping is easy, fresh
fruit and a market were handy down the road in porta roma. The best part
was the beautiful terrace which we enjoyed every evening with vino and
cheese. The weather was warm and sticky a few days but our laundry dried
in no time with the breezes on the terrace. The neighbors were friendly but
we didn’t see much of them.

We enjoyed the location, it was very peaceful and yet so close to down town
Florence. We had no problem at tobacco shop getting bus tickets, also
enjoyed their cappuccino a few mornings. We took a few taxi’s too, in the
evening it was 9 euros from piazza della repubblica (taxi stands) to the
apartment, it was slightly less during the day.

Everything about our trip, the apartment, the neighborhood and the service
provided by Italy Perfect was what we hoped, perfect. Thank you for the
      memories.

Our four night stay in the Medici apartment was everything that we hoped it

to Porta Romana, (then onto the Ponte Vecchia) through the grounds of the
Arts College, but we enjoyed the route to town along the ‘scented lanes’ and
the Oltrano East district. We walked all over Florence, saw all the important
churches, but my favourite was San Miniato al Monte, 20 minutes distant from
the apartment with incredible views over Florence. Saved half a day for the
Uffizi, which was incredible – Renaissance overload. Loved the food, wine and
ice cream. Big recommendations are Terazza del Principe for food, Enoteca Bar
Fuori Porta for wine and the little ice cream shop on Via Romana opposite the
Pitti Palace. Although I forgot to rub the boar’s nose, I’m sure we’ll be back.

Terrific Stay in an Italian Neighborhood

Left on 08/28/2009 for a stay in October 2005

The Medici is a beautiful, quaint house on the other side of the Arno. (Think Tea With Mussolini) You are immersed in Italian life surrounded by locals, but close to all the important sights of Florence. I loved being away from the bustle of the center and relaxing on the back patio sipping a glass of wine left for us. On the other side of the wall in the backyard is the beautiful Boboli Gardens. The Medici is the perfect accomodation and location in Florence. A great stocked kitchen and beautiful bedrooms make you never want to stay in a hotel again, and why would you? Lisa was immediately available for any questions I had and the transaction went smoothly. The contacts at the Medici are right there for you should you need any help. I will not hesitate to stay there again when I return to Italy, which I hope will be soon.

We loved the apartment, and we were very happy with the service we received.
On the hottest days of the summer, the apartment was still cool and quiet --
      an oasis in the city.
      Thank you for everything.

Once again, Casetta Bonsi provided the perfect location for touring both sides
of the Arno. Maurizio and Gabriella are gracious, thoughtful hosts with an
attention to detail that included everything from Bialetti coffee makers to
      armoire air fresheners.

If you're looking for a tranquil retreat from the crowd, with classic old world

This was our second stay at this wonderful location and we look forward to

only thing negative was the hill we had to climb up at the end of a long day of touring to reach our house.. all said and done,, the climb was worth the effort.

The Medici is a wonderful, well appointed apartment away from the tourist rush. We particularly enjoyed creating our Italian dinners and relaxing in the lovely garden. The various markets are only a short distance away selling delicious fruit, vegetables, bread, etc.

The Florence staff were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. When booking the apartment, Lisa was very professional and made us feel very comfortable with the arrangements.

      What can I say--it was Italy--Perfect!

      Medici, Florence

Left on 08/21/2009 for a stay in January 2009

We are professional persons who are seasoned travellers from with experience of stays from 5 plus star down to shanty town impoverishment all around the world. Thus it's difficult to upset us. This apartment is in a quiet location, with good appointments and suitable conveniences. However, we were amazed that the TV was permanently linked to channels showing nothing but the worst pornography. Totally unsuitable for children. The advertsied phone service, which was crucial for us, didn't work. We complained about it daily but nothing was done. We also paid for 2 cleaning services during our stay. The first occurred the day before we left, and the second on the day we left. We complained to Italy Perfect - who did nothing. No offer of refund nor an apology. We love Florence and have visited since, but used another apartment service. The apartment is good.

We are so sorry to hear of the issues raised by this guest who stayed in January 2008, not 2009. We are delighted that they found the apartment quiet, with good appointments and suitable conveniences.

The apartment has both a landline & a cell phone. We apologize if our greeter didn’t point that out, but there is also a comprehensive guest document on the table that shows how to use both. We will ask our greeters to hand it to the guest rather than point it out, so it is clearer that there is a helpful resource right there. The landline phone was working, but the cell phone does not get good reception inside the apartment. We can’t find any record of daily complaints about the telephone and I wish we could; we and the greeter know about the spotty cell phone reception at the apartment and had they contacted us we would have immediately directed them to the landline telephone.

The basic satellite service for ALL of Italy unfortunately does include channels with ads for adult services; these are not paid premium channels. The TV also receives the full array of Italian family entertainment channels, several English language news channels, French and German news and entertainment channels. There is a very visible sign affixed to the TV stating in English "Beware satellite TV has some content inappropriate for children, do not let them use the satellite channels unsupervised." The satellite connection can be disabled at any time using the Off button on the box (instructions in guest document) & still receive regular Italian channels. We apologize if there was a mix-up on the extra cleanings for which they were not charged. Italy Perfect

Very nice apt but a bit too far from center of Florence

Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in November 2007

Me and a friend rented this two bedroom one bath apt while taking Italian language classes in the center of Florence. The apt itself was nice. The livingroom was comfortable, kitchen was adequate for making light meals though it needed some updating in the pots, pans and knives. The larger bedroom had a queensize bed with plenty of closet space. The smaller bedroom had two twin beds and enough closet space but would be very cramped for two people. The quality of the sheets and blankets was very good and made the otherwise very uncomfortable twin beds somewhat tolerable. The bathroom was great. No frills but large enough to move around in and a good sized shower stall.
The location of the apartment was a little disappointing. The walk into the center of Florence takes more like 30 minutes at a quick pace. Even to get to the bus stop will take about 15 minutes. Also misleading is the supposed shortcut you can take through the art school. The gate through that property closes at sundown and in November was about 5pm. We dreaded that walk home at the end of a long day so ended up taking a Taxi up the hill from Porta Romana on most nights. Even this short ride was about 5 Euros.
The best part of this apartment is the cute little terrace with a table and chairs, washing macine/dryer and clothesline. Unfortunately we did not get to use this space much because we never were home during the day and it was too dark and cold at night.
The worst thing about the rental is the location. I did want a place on the outskirts but this was too far and the very long hill made it seem even farther.
This apartment was not ideal for seeing Florence.

We are pleased that this guest enjoyed the apartment but so sorry she was disappointed with the location, although she requested a location "on the outskirts", as she notes. We try to make the location as clear as possible in the information provided on our website which includes:
•An interactive Google map showing the location
•The walking distance in minutes, plotted by Google maps & personally verified by us, to the sites & neighborhood amenities.
•Stating in the apartment description & in the photo tour that the shortcut through the art academy is only open during daylight hours.
      • Multiple references that the location, outside the congested historic center, is best for enthusiastic walkers

We will try harder to ensure that future guests do not overlook this information, as this guest unfortunately did, when choosing the Medici apartment. Lisa, Italy Perfect

      Medici was perfect

Italy perfect lived up to its name and reputation. The location of the apartment was well off the beaten touristy paths of Florence, yet a lovely walk away from it all. The apartment is well appointed - they pretty much thought of everything - from ample linens, laundry soap, the right utensils to really good written information and instructions on using the phone, the internet, etc.

      Fabulous!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Medici. We travelled with two young girls and it was a perfect set up for a family. The information that we were provided with ahead of time was extremely helpful. The setting of Medici is perfect- close enough to walk downtown (even with an 8 and 10 year old) but quiet and peaceful - really a small neighbourhood community. It is a gorgeous, quiet home, next to the old city walls - with every amenity one could require away from home. A fully equipped kitchen, and a lovely private patio. The next time we travel to Florence we will definately stay at the Medici!

Medici was the PERFECT Florence location for our our family get-

Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in November 2008

After weeks of research on the internet, we located the description of the Medici on the Italy Perfect website. We had never rented site unseen, so we spend HOURS reading every review ever written about this property. This was a special retreat, as we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and our 50th birthdays and would be reuniting with our sons to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday in Florence.

Everything in the apartment was as advertised on the internet! The property was clean, attractive and tucked away from the busy tourist areas of the city. We took advantage of the journal left in the apartment for recommendations on where to visit, shop and eat. It was absolutely the best vacation ever!

The apartment is near the Boboli Gardens, which we found to be the most peaceful way to spend the afternoon. We enjoy walking, so for the most part we skipped public transportation and car rentals. We had everything we needed and a few unexpected comforts in the property(heated towel bar, American movies, professional flutest in the building who lulled us afternoons) and all else we could purchase close by.

Lisa at Italy Perfect was highly responsive to all of our questions leading up to our trip. We were delighted with the customer service and have recommended Italy Perfect to anyone we know planning a visit.

      A Perfect Apartment

Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in May 2004

Five of us spent a week experiencing the glories of Florence as well as the friendliness of the people. Our lodging at the Medici apartment made the week perfect. We had a fully equipped kitchen, a lovely living room, two comfortable bedrooms, and a modern bathroom. The washer/dryer was a priceless addition. My favorite activity was sitting outside in the courtyard each evening sipping wine. Our upstairs neighbors were members of an orchestra, and we loved hearing them rehearse in the evenings. We were part of the local neighborhood and enjoyed talking with neighbors as they worked in their gardens. A dog-lover, I liked petting the neighborhood dogs and laughing with their owners.

The Medici Villa was a perfect place to stay for our group of four girlfrieds. We loved the location in a residential area. Especially going to the specialty grocers for meat & seafood, fruit & vegetbles, etc. We especially enjoyed the evenings drinking wine in the courtyard which one wall is part of the ancient wall that surrounds Florence. It was awesome. Just be careful on the bus for pick pockets, we got nailed.

      Delightful stay in Florence!

Left on 08/07/2009 for a stay in February 2008

The house was exactly what we expected! The surrounds gardens were charming and while there was a garden with a patio in the rear of the suite, the sun was in the front. So we took out tow chairs and an Antipasti dish, wine and sat on the door step and visited with the neighbors while listening to the violin playing above. What more could anyone ask for.

The walk from the house to town everyday was also enchanting. The stores, various venues and the markets.
Finally the bridge, Point Vecchio! Most amazing holiday!

Medici is a great spot to stay while visiting Tuscany. It is located just outside of the walls of Florence, which is great, as it gets you away from the tourist craziness and noise, when you need a bit of a break. The area has all you need to relax, great wine shop, butcher, produce shop and cheese and deli all within a 10 minute walk.
The house has a great back patio to sit and relax on with a great glass of wine after a busy day of sight seeing.
      Would highly recommend!
