We spent 5 nights at the Toscanella in July and found it perfect for our family of 4 (parents + 2 teenage daughters). We really liked the location - so convenient to the main sights but quieter and away from the throngs. The girls enjoyed gelato from the shop on the corner at least once a day, and we also grabbed coffee and then wine from the bar on the other corner. We took advantage of local restaurants, including a newer one up the street. There's a supermarket across from the Pitti Palace, and a very nice smaller market and good fruit market close by.
We loved the space of this apartment, and all the rooms were very comfortable. It was quiet in the bedrooms at night, and you could enjoy the buzz of the local piazza in the living room. The apartment was spotless and kitchen very well equipped. Francesca did a great job with meeting us and also checked us out and called a cab to take us to the train station. She's very pleasant and competent with very good English.
There's a Segway rental across from the Pitti Palace as well - we rented for an hour and had a blast exploring the Pedestrian zone - you can see a lot in an hour on the segway!
We'd definitely recommend Italy Perfect to friends and would use them again in Florence or other locations. We stayed in apartments for 14 of our 20 nights in Europe and really appreciated the extra space and feeling of having our own place during a long vacation - it was good to be able to have some "down" time each afternoon and having a kitchen saved us $$.

We stayed in Toscanella for 4 nights in June with our two pre-teen boys. The apartment was spacious, and safe. It has a large renovated kitchen, an island bar and a dining table that were perfect for quick meals. The grocery store is just a few blocks away. The best part was the location. The small piazza in front of the apartment had several great restaurants, two coffee bars and a fabulous gelato shop. The piazza is quite lively from morning to night. I always prefer staying on the south side of the arno. It allows you easy access to great restaurants, coffee bars, and shopping that are not overrun with tourists. Just two blocks away from the apartment we had a fabulous mean at a local restaurant where none of the waitstaff even spoke English. However, since Florence is so small, you are just a 5 minute walk to the Centro Storico and all the sites.

Toscanella has a *lot* going for it; the location is very convenient but not overrun with tourists, the apartment itself is beautiful, spacious and well-thought-out, and Francesca [greeter] is lovely, giving very complete information about the area and the ins and outs of the facilities.
Within a half hour of arriving, we were already discussing "finding a place just like this if we move to Italy"; i.e., it feels like a home, not a rental and certainly not like a hotel. The pictures don't do it justice!
The only downside worth mentioning is noise. On two of the three nights we were there (Saturday and Sunday), the bar across the alleyway had very loud live music in, and we could hear it (mostly drums, some guitar) through to the back bedroom.
We live in a city, so we're used to noise, but even for us it was a bit much. Luckily, it ended just after midnight on both nights, and in every other respect, Toscanella was perfect!

The location of the apartment so close to Ponte Vecchio and the main centre of Florence made this a terrific location. A 5 minute cab ride from the train station, close to supermarkets and restaurants and a marvelous welcome by the property manager made this a terrific find. The apartment was well appointed and spacious for us. Recommend Mama Gina's nearby for dinner.

Great 3 bedroom apartment with well equipped kitchen, lounge / study area with plenty of tourist info and clothelines outside the windows for some Italian style clothes drying!
Best of all is the location. Only a block away from the busy streets around the Ponte Vecchio and Pitti Palace but so quiet. The piazza directly outside the apartment has 2 good restaurants, a bar, cafe and new gelateria. We mostly ate and drank in the piazza each night as it was full of locals with few "foreign" accents.
A note to people looking at the piazza on Google Maps. The photos are old and do not do the space justice. Looks run down but is actually a great space.

We loved the location of Toscanella. It had a grocery store within a few blocks
and the Gastronomia around the corner on San Jacopo. We loved the feeling of
really living in Florence since the area was very residential. All of the sites were
within easy walking distance but it was wonderfully quiet place to come back
to. It was very spacious and mostly well appointed. The kitchen and bathroon
were lovely and well equipped but the bedroom and living room were worn. We
especially like the desk with intenet access. We really appreciated being able to
store our luggage because we had a late departure. The washing machine was
great and the lack of a dryer was not even an issue. We loved the whole

We loved our accommodation on the Altrarno, nestled in the tiny streets near the Pitti Palace and right next to a wonderful little piazza with a great bar across the road for breakfast and prosecco later in the day. Being just slightly away from the hustle and bustle of the Uffizi, Accademia and Duomo means you can rediscover what Florence is really about. The apartment itself is a delight to come back to - clean, spacious, all modern conveniences (including a brand new washing machine) and very comfortable for the four people in our party.

Toscanella was the perfect apartment for 4 business women at a conference.
We had such easy access to all the sites, great restaurants, and our conference.
In addition, the apartment was remarkably quiet in the evenings and
mornings. The kitchen was so well equipped and the market was convienient.

Toscanella was a wonderful base from which to explore Florence. It was very spacious and easily accommodated our party, which consisted of myself and my husband, our 3 parents, and our 2 kids, aged 5 and 7. The best part was the kitchen, which had everything we needed to prepare simple meals.
We also loved the location. It felt like we were in a neighborhood, though we were steps away from the Ponte Vecchio and within an easy walk of many sites of central Florence. -

Toscanella was everything advertised and more. We couldn't believe the convenience of being able to walk all of downtown Florence yet be on a quiet street. The air conditioning was a must for August and it was nice to be able to slip back to the apartment for a rest before venturing to the next event. We are a family of 6 that included my father in law. There was a room separated from the other bedrooms that was perfect for his privacy. The kitchen worked well for all of us and I appreciated the washing machine with a family. My daughter got a kick out of hanging the clothes outside the windows like a true Italian! Lisa sent us a very helpful packet of info on Italy and being first time US visitors, it was invaluable. When our family travels back to Italy and Florence, "Toscanella"is the only place we would stay.
Location,Location, Location!!
"Toscanella" is within walking distance to most of the main places of interest. One of our sons has limited walking ability ,was great to be right in the middle of everything. The stairs up to the apartment was minimal.
Clean, quiet and very roomy. Loved having a washer and a kitchen with all that you need to whip up a fab meal.
Having the use of a laptop (we also had our own laptop, good internet connection), mobile phone and loads of maps and books, WONDERFUL. All to help with getting the most out of the area.Lots of little personal touches about the place.
FANTASTIC places to dine, literally downstairs. Also the best deli in town... oh the fresh breads, cheeses, wines...Bellissimo!! and the couple that run the deli, so sweet.
Best thing about the apartment would be, the bedrooms, kitchen, living room, lovely layout, comfy beds and bed coverings all in crisp condition and the location...
The least liked would be the silly little shower cubical, which fills with water and is in need of replacement or repair. The main bathroom is beautifully renovated and the little ( very small ) toilet come shower is as well. The shower capsule/cubical is really the only thing that is less than perfect in "Toscanella"
