Description from the owner
This is a charming apartment, in an excellent location (Piazza della Libertà , near San Gallo gate and mentioned by Boccaccio in his Decamerone).
It is in one of the most prestigious districts in town and a short walk from the city centre.
The famous piazza San Marco and the popular San Lorenzo are within easy reach .Located on the second, and last , floor ( without lift ) of a XVIII building ( at the beginning it was a convent ), it has been completely renovated, tastefully decorated a furnished with some antique pieces of furniture. The area is very convenient, close to shops, restaurants and supermarkets, and a large underg...Read more

CalgaryMemorable Stay in Florence
Left on 05/03/2013 for a stay in November 2012
Gabriele was an extremely gracious host and even greeted us with a nice bottle of wine on our arrival. He ensured that the apartment was not only spotless and well organized, but that we had the many extras to make for a comfortable stay. The stove, oven and dishwasher all worked perfectly and there was an abundance of quality pots and pans to create your own dine in meals. There are a few must go restaurants in the area, notably antica Trattoria "da Tito" dal 1913... an amazing experience just around the corner from the apartment (reservation required). Also we really enjoyed a very locals lunch at Trattoria da Mario (close to the Market). We had a car for our stay which we were able to conveniently park underground on the same street for a very reasonable price. We would recommend this apartment in a heartbeat. Grazie per tutti Gabriele!

I stayed at the aurora apartment for two weeks and must say I thoroughly enjoyed it: Cleanliness and a very comfortable bed are important to me. The aurora ticked both boxes. The kitchen is well equipped incl dishwasher, fridge/freezer, and I made use of the washing machine. Heating was no problem as I stayed there early spring. I found the apartment very tastefully furnished. Though you can see the busy Piazza della Liberta from the bedroom window, I was pleasantly surprised how peaceful it was inside and had no problem getting a good night's rest. Internet connection was also important to me: the apartmt is equipped with a fast, reliable Wifi.
Location wise: it took me 25-30min to walk to the Piazza Santa Maria Novella, which I didn't mind walking daily while I attended art classes in this area. A well stocked supermarket is just a 5 min walk from the apartmt (Via Massacia).
The owner of the apartmt, Gabriele, is a gem. Ever so helpful! Overall: great place I can highly recommend and would return any time again.

Bielefeld (Germany)Ein wunderschöner Florenz-Aufenthalt!
Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Alles in allem also ein sehr schöner aufenthalt!

Philadelphia, PALovely apartment for our Firenze Honeymoon Stop
Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We recently stayed at the aurora apartment for our honeymoon. The apartment was a great break from our hotel stays in the other major Italian cities. It has everything you need - a well-equipped (and adorable) kitchen, great size rooms, and the best part - a washer. We were able to go home with a suitcase full of clean clothes. What a perk! We decided to walk from the train station so be warned - you will need a map.The apartment is just out of the center of town, so it's not on any town map that we had. It's also a 20 minute walk so with luggage, it's worth the taxi ride.
We also found Gabriele and Stephanie to be great hosts. Gabriele even showed up on the morning of our departure and gave us a lift to the train station. We followed their advice and went to the restaurant Tito as well. It was a great one. We also visited the supermercato nearby and stocked up on breakfast supplies and saved a lot of money that way. All in all, it was a very nice apartment and a relaxing stay. It's a bit far from the center of town, but we thought that was a good thing. The price can't be beat for such a cute place and gracious hosts. -

We stayed at the aurora for more than two weeks and were delighted with our choice. The apartment is comfortable, charming, clean and very well equipped. The building is a former convent and the rooms and furniture offer a pleasant ambience combining classic style and contemporary convenience.
We ate our breakfasts and cooked several dinners there. The kitchen is really well equipped with all the utensils, cookware and place settings you would need. It has a microwave, stove/oven, dishwasher/ coffeemaker as well as an iron, ironing board, washing machine and drying rack.
Both rooms have air conditioning and there is a flat screen TV (Italian channels only). Internet service is fast and reliable.
The apartment is close to several bus lines and you can walk to the tourist center in about 20 minutes. A supermarket is about three blocks away. If you have a car, there's a large underground garage further down the street that costs EUR 20 per night. Be aware that you'll have some steps to climb to the second floor.
The owners, Gabriele and his wife Stefania, are warm, friendly people who will take care of anything you need. He made some excellent restaurant recommendations (our favorite is da Tito, about 10 minutes away by foot). They invited us to spend a day with them on their vacation. We visited a wine producing village and spent a wonderful afternoon at their favorite beach. Great people with a great apartment to rent. -

Gabriele and Stefania provide everything you need in the apartment, including extra supplies - very unusual in my experience of renting apartments throughout Europe. The apartment itself is roomy and gorgeous, with fast, reliable internet and air-conditioning that's welcome during summer. It's also in a good location, an easy 20 minute walk away from the train station as well as the main tourist sites. After doing all the typical tourist activities in 3 days, Gabriele recommended the nearby town of Fiesole which had really interesting Roman ruins and an amazing view of Florence. You have to take the number 7 bus which stops at Piazza della Libertà. Will definitely rent here again if I'm back.

Alpharetta, GAWonderful apartment!
Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My teenage daughter and I stayed here for 2 weeks in May and we loved it! It's outside of the tourist area in a very safe neighborhood with a great supermarket nearby and plenty of restaurants. We felt that it was the best of both worlds to experience what living was like for a local resident in a quieter section of town yet still be within a reasonable walking distance from the main attractions.
The apartment was modern, beautifully decorated and in perfect condition. It had air-conditioning, a full refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine (very helpful!) and wi-fi (another must for me & it worked perfectly) all of which were gifts to us. I also know from numerous visits to Italy that it can get hot which brings mosquitos, so one thing I made sure of is that we had a/C. We only had to use in as it got closer to June, but it worked like a dream.
One of the main reasons I chose this apartment was because of all the 5-star reviews that raved about the owners, Gabriele and Stefania. These reviews were very accurate--they treat their guests as we would treat our best friends--you will feel this when you stay here and it made me feel more comfortable when traveling abroad with my daughter. I highly recommend this lovely apartment as well as their larger apartment, Casa Iris (see my review), which is very close by. -

Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My wife and I recently stayed at this charming apartment. We were there from May 14 through May 19th 2012. Gabriele was extremely flexible and accomodating with our later arrival from Venice by train. The apartment was stocked with a number of everyday items we did not always see in various apartments we stayed at while in Italy. I found it amazing that he had hot pepper oil as a condiment! The apartment is spacious and very tastefully decorated. Everything is close by, restaurants, grocery stores, shopping and the old center of town. Ponte Vechhio was a 30 minute walk.
The day we were leaving Gabriele showed up to drive us to the train station! As if that was not enough when he found out we did not have the time to go to Piazzale Michelangeliolo he drove us all the way there to get in one last spectacular view of the amazing city. Then drove us to the railway station!
If you would like to stay just outside the city center away from the crowds and still experience what Florence has to offer this is a great value for your dollar! -

Me and my wife had a wonderful, yet short 3 night stay at 'Casa aurora'. Gabriele looked after us extremely well, he was flexible (and very accommodating) for our check-in, made sure we were comfortable with using all of the excellent amenities in the apartment and really made us feel at home. He is extremely helpful with his local knowledge and gave us some great tips. The apartment itself is very spacious and comfortable, perfect for a short or long stay. Located in a great residential area, it is within easy walking distance to all of the tourist 'hot-spots', yet far enough away to feel like a local when needing a break! Thanks again to Gabriele! Highly recommended.

We had only 4 precious nights here. As described by others, the charming Gabriele was waiting to greet us, and phoned taxis for us etc, he was so helpful and friendly.
The apartment itself is delightful; a nice blend of antique&modern; spotlessly clean and stocked with fresh condiments ( very thoughtful, actually the best-stocked kitchen we found in Italy, France and Switzerland, elsewhere we often paid much more for such accommodation). The bedroom is huge for Italy, it was so nice to have so much room around us.
The apartment block residents&general; neighbourhood is friendly&safe; with nice restaurants, and we found we could walk everywhere, even the SMN train station is an easy 15/20 minute walk down Via Nazionale, and you pass bakeries, cafes etc so you can have an Italian breakfast (coffee&cake;/biscuits) on the run, as Italians do, and stock up on panini&snacks; for day-trips on the train to Pisa or the bus to Siena .
This apartment is a pleasure to recommend, and we hope to return. -

They went out of their way to ensure our stay at aurora was pleasant and comfortable. The apartment is located a comfortable walk from the city centre or an easy bus ride if you are not up for the walk. The location is not in a touristy area, so you are staying amongst the locals. The bar downstairs is friendly and welcoming. There is a paid car park just down the street if you have a car. Thank you to Gabriele and Stefania for making our stay enjoyable.

Our first visit to Florence and what a welcome.
Gabriele (the owner) was there to meet us and did everything possible to ensure we were settled before he left.
He gave suggestions for restaurants, local places and even made bookings for us (grazie mille).
The location is good, only a 20 minute stroll down one street, and quiet enough to get away from the main tourist area in the evening.
Some good restaurants nearby including a couple of bars.
Ideal place for a couple.
Everything you need, very clean and just as described in the advertisment.
We will recommend to friends and family. -

Everything that everyone has said is all true. The apartment is extremely comfortable and to have a proper kitchen was a great bonus, we were able to invite our daughter and her boyfriend over for a couple of lovely family meals. It was lovely to have a location just slightly out of the main busy area and we didn't find it a problem to walk backwards and forwards. After reading all the other reviews we were confident we had chosen well but it still managed to exceed our expectations!
Gabriele couldn't have been more helpful or charming.

My teenage daughter, husband and I just spent three days in Florence. A highlight of that stay was definitely the apartment we chose in lieu of a hotel room. The manager, Gabriele, was very helpful with rapid repairs (small problem in the bathroom), museum reservations( which we had difficulty making from the US0, and calling us a taxi to the train station. Thank you, Gabriele! Plus, the apartment is charming, very clean and a lovely combination of old-world style with modern amenities (colorful remodeled bathroom). The only slight drawback for us was that our daughter did not find the sofa bed very comfortable so she just slept on the couch. It's about a 20 minute walk or 7 minute bus ride to the Duomo. We would definitely stay at this apartment again if travels took us back to Florence.

Left on 06/30/2011 for a stay in June 2011
This was the first of the apartments we booked over the internet, we were very cautious about doing so because of all the warnings we heard. Gabriele was very easy to deal with by email then, over the phone.
Gabriele met us as we arrived at the apartment to show us around. This apartment is as good as any five star hotel apartment. Beautifully designed then carefully prepared for us, sparkling clean. More linen and other amenities than we needed for the week. Walk in shower (very unusual). Very comfortable lounge furniture and bed. Fast free WiFi, Gabriele made sure it worked with my
laptop.
There were even red roses in the bedroom and a bottle of wine in the lounge to greet us - we were there for our wedding anniversary
The apartment has a very well designed and fully equipped 'cooks kitchen' that really does allow you to cook full meals with ease although there are very good restaurants close by.
Once settled in the apartment Gabriele walked with us around the block showing us the bus stop (and where to buy tickets), the supermarket, the better local restaurants and other points of interest. Over the week we were at the apartment Gabriele was always available with invaluable help or advise.
If you need a base for a few days in Florence this is a stunning apartment. In a quiet building, close to the railway station and just a few minutes bus ride from the amazing tourist chaos of Florence or the main bus station to other parts of Tuscany. Gabriele is a wonderful host who is so helpful and the personal contact, when booking, was very re-assuring.
By far the best apartment we have ever stayed in.Thank you so much Gabriele and Stefania

Left on 06/21/2011 for a stay in June 2011
The location of Casa aurora is perfect. There is a bus stop at the end of the street to go to the train station or central Florence. When we arrived, Gabriel met us and surprised us with an anniversary card from our niece - and his wife gave us two dozen roses - along with wine and cookies. The apartment is very modern and beautifully decorated, clean, and quiet. We enjoyed it so much we asked to stay an extra night (five instead of the original four we booked). We cooked dinners in the fully equipped kitchen several nights, which definitely saved us money. A nearby grocery store was very convenient to stock the kitchen. The apartment has laundry facilities, a dishwasher, a coffee pot, washing machine, and a flat screen TV (but no English speaking stations)!! It is on the third floor with no elevator, but easily accessible. We loved the apartment and found Gabriel and Stefania the ultimate hosts. Definitely a good choice for us.

Left on 06/01/2011 for a stay in April 2011
I'd been to Florence before so I knew what to expect of the city, but Gabriele and his wife really made the experience special - they were so kind, friendly and accommodating. When we arrived, Gabriele's wife realised she'd forgotten the keys to the flat so she had to go back to her house - she left us literally for 5 minutes but she brought us a huge traditional Italian Easter cake to make up for it, as well as a carton of milk as it was Easter weekend and she realised shops wouldn't be open. We also found the kitchen stocked with all the essentials as well as water, bottle of wine and biscuits. When we asked about supermarkets which would be open over Easter, they even researched it for us and sent us email to tell us where it was and what it was called.
They went out of their way to help us - and on top of all of that the flat was beautiful! The wifi really helped as well as data roaming abroad can be expensive...
Can't recommend it enough, would definitely stay there again if I was to go back to Florence, thanks for your hospitality Gabriele!

We were in Florence for a week and booked this apartment after reading the reviews. It did not disappoint! Gabriele met us in person and helped us with our heavy luggages and also took the time to recommend places to visit, to eat and even call for a reservation for us. The apartment is a renovated old building which used to be an convent, everything about it oozes history and culture, the interiors are tastefully furnished and it really makes you feel like you are staying in authentic Florence. It has a very nice size master bedroom and you can control the thermostat if you feel cold. The kitchen has very modern appliances and everything you need in terms of utensils, pots, even a good selection of condiments! That works out really well as it saved us the hassle of having to buy all kinds of condiments which we would not be able finish using on our trip. They provide a nice selection of teas and coffees. And my favourite part was that they provided a pile of towels in case you need to use more than one during your stay. All bathroom amenities were there. And they also very thoughtfully provided us with large bottles of mineral water in the fridge, which is great as the last thing you want to do after travelling the whole day is to reach a place and have to go out and buy water. The internet connection works great and they have a nice washing machine as well. Also for those of you driving, there is a car garage right down the street from the apartment and you can buy passes by the day, week or month, which is very convenient as parking is hard to find in most places in Italy. The apartment itself is a few steps away from a plaza of little shops and restaurants and bus stops, very convenient! We cannot say enough how wonderful this place is and how warm and helpful Gabriele was. We definitely hope to be back for a longer stay at Casa aurora in the future!!

It is approximately 2 km from the train station but is in a very nice Florentine (no tourists) neighborhood. The area and apartment are very safe. Very good grocery store 3 blocks away. The station is easily accesible by bus. We mostly walked through interesting streets. Quite a few stairs but every place (7) we stayed had stairs. Gabriele is wonderful. Very accommodating and receptive to our needs. Highly recommended.

This is the most beautiful apartment we have stayed in during our three-week vacation in Italy. It has all the comforts of home, is spacious and efficiently fitted. The high wood-beam ceiling in the bedroom is quite spectacular and something to gaze at as you lie in bed at night. The location is plenty ideal, very close to the bus stop or if you wish to, like we did a couple of times, you can walk into the center of town in 20 minutes. Our only quibble with the place is the slippery tablecloth.
Then there is of course, the warm hospitality of Gabriele who genuinely wants you to enjoy your stay here. It's not just the thoughtful bottle of wine and cookies and all the stuff in the kitchen but his willingness to assist you and help you find your bearings in Florence that makes this stay memorable. He is the quintessential Italian. -

The apartment is furnished beautifully with antiques and has a very comfortable king size bed and a lovely modern kitchen and bathroom, all very clean. It is located a few minutes walk from the historic area in an upscale neighborhood, close to great restaurants and an excellent supermarket. The owner is a very congenial host. He met us the night we arrived, explained everything we needed to know about the apartment and followed up with answers to our questions about how to find specific shops/products. The kitchen has every amenity you need to prepare breakfast or a full course dinner, and the owner is kind enough to supply Italian coffee/coffeemaker; American coffee/coffeemaker; and an electric teapot and assortment of teas in addition to a complimentary bottle of wine and cookies. The apartment is light-filled with windows in the bedroom, living room and kitchen. Suggestion: try the bar downstairs for coffee/snacks. We stayed here 4 nights just before Christmas 09 and had a great stay. We had a car and found it easily with a Garmin once we had the correct zipcode. The hosts are lovely people who had food basics in apt on arrival and a warm welcome. The bedroom is large and comfortable. We had single air mattress as our teen daughter doesn't like sleeping with teen son and we had room to put it up and down. He slept on double sleeper couch. Kitchen/Dining area small but quite adequate. Well equipped and so clean! The apt. is up two flights and a 15 min walk to town so if can't walk don't use but for us we walked to and from downtown. Parking garage near for car and easy to take daytrips. Avoid rush hour traffic in evening coming in if possible. We will stay there again if ever in Florence!

Aurora is by far the best apartment that we have ever stayed in. It was spotlessly clean, very cosy and has all the amenities that you could need. It was made even better by thoughtful touches such as stocking the fridge with some breakfast provisions.
Location was great, in a quieter part of the city yet only a 15-20 minute walk from most attractions and with a supermarket close by.
Our stay was made even better by our charming host, Gabriele, who was a pleasure to deal with during the booking process and gave us numerous suggestions while we were in Florence. A couple of local restaurants that he recommended (Trattoria Da Tito and Ristorante Alfredo) were excellent.

The apartment is immaculate and wonderfully decorated; a wonderful and welcoming place to stay while enjoying Italy. It has a fully equipped kitchen, which we availed ourselves of, and a washing machine that was very useful. It is in a quieter section of town, as compared to the area closer to the Duomo, and there is a supermarket just a few blocks away. Most of the attractions we visited were within a 15 minute walk but there is a bus stop very close by in case your feet get tired.
We cannot say enough about the kindness of Gabriele. Along with a much appreciated welcome treat of wine and biscotti, he gave us excellent recommendations for nearby restaurants, help with calling a taxi when needed, and even offered to drive us to the airport to retrieve our lost bags. We happened to be visiting when the volcano in Iceland exploded and closed airports and cancelled flights. Gabriele was an immense help to us as we tried to find a place to stay while waiting for our flights to be rescheduled.
Staying in Gabriele's apartment definitely made our vacation more enjoyable - we give it 5 stars!

Wow, the apartment is fantastic. Service was more than great, Gabriele decided to take us to the train station as he was afraid that we might get lost.
Location was good too, as it was a little away from the central area yet close enough to reach by a bus away. Amenities were so complete that we didnt use most of it.
Everything was more than good. -

Aurora Apartment was delightful! All the provisions you could possibly need were there. The rooms were very clean (high on my list of priorities), decor was colourful, warm and inviting and facilities were great. The location was excellent also, just a 10 minute walk to most attractions. The real highlight was our wonderful landlords, Gabrielle and Stephania who went out of their way to make sure my teenage daughters and I had the best possible experience of Florence - we were made to feel like their very special guests. A truly memorable stay for us, and I highly recommend Aurora Apartment to families and friends looking for quality at an affordable price.

We were met by Stefania at the apartment and found everything to be charming. The bedroom was about 16 by 18 feet,as much as most motel rooms. The kitchen, breakfast nook, and sitting area were roomy and well stocked with everthing you need in a kitchen. It even had a dishwasher. A washing machine was located in the bathroon. The bed was very comfortable as was the sofa. It was stocked with some bottled water, snacks and coffee. Gabriel and Stefania came back that evening to give us a tour of the city at night. We even stopped at their favorite coffee shop to enjoy the local flavor of Florence. Gabriel brought a dish by the next evening that Stefania had made that was ready to eat and delicious. Gabriel arrived our last day to take us to the train station. We left feeling like a part of the family. The best apartment we have ever rented

From lease negotiations to final ride back to the train station, Gabriele went
above and beyond to make us feel at home.
He and his wife were waiting to greet us when we arrived, and had the
apartment stocked with supplies. The apartment is clean, very modern and has
all the amenities. After a long day out and about in Florence, it was very nice
to come "home" to this apartment.
Everything in this apartment works beautifully as advertised. We enjoyed the
place so much that we stayed one extra day. We would highly recommend this
place. Next time I'm in Florence, I am calling up Gabriele.
Thank you Gabriele and your wife for making our trip so enjoyable. -

Gabriele and Stefania made our stay in Firenze the highlight of our
European trip. The apartment is delightfully renovated from the wood
beamed ceiling in the bedroom to the updated kitchen and bathroom area.
The apartment is compact, but they have managed to blend classic
decoration with all modern amenities and the result is a truly functional and
relaxing space.
The apartment is located close enough to the town center to be a 5 minute
bus ride away, or a 20 minute walk if you are so inclined. However, having
stayed in the center of Firenze on previous trips I can say I was really glad
we stayed at this apartment on this occasion. The apartment is in a nice,
quiet but picturesque area, with two excellent restaurants just around the
corner as well as a local supermarket and wine stores. You get the feeling of
being part of the community and not just a tourist!
The best part about the whole experience though was meeting Gabriele and
Stefania, they are simply excellent hosts. They had thought about all of the
things we might need for our stay and had even gone to the trouble to
stock the fridge with essentials to get us through the first few days of our
stay. My wife and I have visited Italy on numerous occasions and have
rented apartments in a number of cities and this was by far out best
experience.
I would highly recommend staying at Aurora to anyone looking to get a true
perspective on Firenze. -

This stylish and beautiful apartment - operated by the kind and generous Gabriele Cecchini - was by far the best accommodation we encountered during our four weeks in Italy.
Furnished with a front-loading washing machine, wireless access, TV and a kitchen better equipped than we have at home, our stay was made even more special with luxuries such as a huge king-size bed with delicious thick linen, Tuscan cookbooks, fresh flowers and heated towel rails.
Spotlessly clean and furnished with new and antique furniture, this apartment is in a quiet residential area - far enough away from the crowds of tourists, but close enough to walk to the centre of it everything. The no.1 bus takes you almost from the apartment's front door to the Duomo - in three minutes. There's a supermarket a block away that sells everything you'll need - and we were often torn between cooking in and enjoying the creature comforts of the apartment or heading down stairs to the gorgeous cafe below and soaking up the 'dolce vita' of Florence.
If I have the chance to visit Italy again, I'm heading straight back to Florence and to Gabriele's apartment. I highly recommend this accommodation. Thank you Gabriele.

I can’t say enough about how much we loved our apartment in Florence. The hosts went out of their way to ensure our stay was pleasant, even providing a stocked kitchen on our first night and a ride to the transit station when we departed. When we initially arrived there were problems with the wifi working but this was resolved within 24 hours and our hosts felt so badly about it that they provided home-cooked lunch to help make up for it. Once resolved, we thoroughly used and appreciated the high-speed access and the powerful air conditioning in the August heat. The washing machine and dish washer came in handy and we were very happy with the proximity to a grocery store allowing us to cook our own meals for the first time in several weeks of traveling – what a blessing! The apartment was extremely quiet and immaculately maintained with all the basic essentials. It was very convenient to bus stops and restaurants as well. If we find ourselves in beautiful Firenze again, we will definitely stay here!

This newly renovated apartment is not only convenient to the sights, but really lovely. The owners were the most gracious hosts and have clearly put their thoughtfulness into this apartment. We rented several apartments throughout France and Italy and this was hands down the nicest. As a family of four with two teenagers, keeping everyone happy was a challenge, but this apartment did the trick. If I ever find myself returning to Florence, this is where I will stay.
