New YorkA Perfect Week
Left on 01/19/2013 for a stay in December 2012
We stayed at La Querce for a week with friends of ours. The Villa was beautiful, impressive and magnificently furnished, and its splendor was tempered by the warmth of our hostess Domitilla and the easy care of Grace and almer, who made fires and wonderful breakfasts every morning. The Villa is surrounded by olive groves and a vineyard, and we spent one lovely afternoon tasting in the cellar with the winemaker, who later shipped us some of his excellent olive oil. We had been concerned about the December weather, but it turned out to be perfect, sunny and slightly cool, and the exciting visits to Florence, museums and lovely nearby towns were unencumbered by crowds of tourists. This is a good time of year to come!
We have been traveling in Italy and Tuscany for many years, but have never had a more rewarding experience than this week at La Querce. Thanks again to Domitilla for the care, thoughtfulness and devotion that she shows to La Querce and her guests!

Our stay at La Querce met all our expectations and beyond. My husband and I have traveled in this area many times before and relished staying in such a wonderful house. La Querce is a beautiful house, wonderfully restored and maintained. Grace and almer provided for our every need, down to a blazing fire each morning at breakfast. Domitilla is a gracious hostess, always ready to help. Such was the spell that La Querce cast on us that we were often reluctant to leave, preferring to stay at the house instead of traveling the 20 minutes down to Florence. When we did go to Florence, however, the trip was easy and quick. We wholeheartedly recommend staying at Villa la Querce. We hope to return immediately with all our family.

Victoria, AustraliaOur Italian dream
Left on 11/15/2012 for a stay in August 2011
Our stay at the villa was everything we could have wished for and more. The photos and information on the web site were accurate, although nothing could beat walking through the villa and grounds for real. There were quite a lot of stairs within the villa which could be a problem for some. The rooms were beautifully appointed as well as feeling very homely in an Italian way! The ensuites to each bedroom was a bonus. And there was plenty of space to spread yourselves out. We made good use of all the wonderful facilities, especially the pristine pool and the terrace. Everything was kept clean and well maintained, although we had a slight problem with an unpleasant odour in one of the bathrooms. It was a minor inconvenience which was attended to promptly. Domitilla was most welcoming and helpful, as was Grace. We really appreciated the location of the villa, and took advantage of the local bus service into Florence on a number of occasions as well as walking into Impruneta for a coffee and supplies from the local businesses. The views fron the tower windows were pure Tuscany, and to watch the sun set and the lights of Florence begin to glow across the hills from the terrace was magic. It was a wonderful week spent with good friends making memories that will last a lifetime.

We had 13 adults and 5 children staying at the villa and used every bedroom available. We used all the amenities, an art history tour in Florence, wine tasting and cooking class by Lorenzo. We were in Florence for my son's wedding and Grace, the housekeeper, was wonderful in helping us with our transportation problems. She also cooked for us several times including dinner for 31 people, the wedding party. The rooms and the bathrooms were very nice. We used the outside and the inside living room space with all the people we had. The view from the villa is wonderful and our only regret is that we did not have enough time to just sit and enjoy the villa. We had many requests for the kids and wines and the staff was wonderful about helping with everything. this is a perfect place for a family or a group of friends. All the 13 adults would highly recommend this villa.

Washington, DCExceeded our high expectations
Left on 08/04/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Our extended family (8 adults and 6 kids) stayed at Villa La Querce for a week this summer, celebrating my parents' 50th anniversary. My wife and I have visited Italy numerous times, but this experience surpassed any other we've had. La Querce is even more spacious and beautiful than what the photos convey. It is the quintessential Tuscan villa -- gorgeous decor, classic sitting rooms, a library, an elegant dining room, a veranda, a manicured pool area, and lots of nooks to escape to. The air conditioning was good, and everything was well maintained by the staff. The villa is surrounded by a large olive grove, nice for a stroll in the morning or evening. Domitilla recommended and made reservations for us at several excellent restaurants in the area. A pleasant surprise was that La Querce's vineyard, adjacent to the villa, produces a well-regarded Chianti Docg wine (wine Spectator 96 points) and an excellent Toscana IGT. We enjoyed the winery tour and tasting with the winemaker, Marco Ferretti. His reserve wines are particularly impressive. (La Querce also has a limited production of olive oil and infused soaps.) The only downside I can think of is that the WiFi did not always work and coverage was spotty; but that was a minor inconvenience. In virtually every aspect, La Querce surpassed our expectations and provided a wonderful location for our stay in Tuscany.

Left on 08/21/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Our visit to LaQuerce in late July exceeding all of our expectations. From the moment Domatilla greeted us to the moment we hugged Grace good-bye, we had an absolutely amazing time. The pictures on the website do not do this villa justice. It is so much bigger than we imagined. Grace and almer are absolutely darling. They are so helpful and Grace is one heck of a cook! The villa is in a great location. We were able to drive around the region and visit Lucca, Siena and smaller towns in Chianti with ease. Domatilla provided a list of restaurant recommendations that were great. We would highly recommend Ristorante Lamole south of Greve. It was delicious and the views are beautiful. We also enjoyed Il Battibecco. I had a mushroom salad that was by far the most delicious salad I ever ate. We spent a day winetasting in Chianti and visited Montecalvi and Vitticio. Both were beautiful and I would highly recommend them. By far, our favorite wine tour was at LaQuerce. Marco was wonderful and we really enjoyed sitting in the wine cellar tasting his creations. (By the way, if you are wondering what's behind those giants doors outside, it's the wine cellar!) We toured Florence with Carlotta, a friend of Domatilla. It is a truly beautiful city and Carlotta made our visit so much better. She was so knowledgeable about history, art and architecture. We learned so much and enjoyed the 4 hours we spent with her. The city would have been a blur without her. Before leaving, we have already decided to come back for another visit. This time, we may come back with some of our friends. The villa has so much space. We spent time in every living area. A word of caution about the tower bedroom...it's beautiful but you will get a work out getting there! Our thanks for Domatilla, Grace and almer for an amazing experience. Our children are still talking about it. We have many fond memories and look forward to our next visit.

Left on 10/23/2010 for a stay in October 2010
Villa La Querce was just what we were looking for.
We had all 4 grown daughters and sons- in Law plus two grandchildren ages 1 and 3, (and one on the way)...
We were able to easily take the bus into Florence during the day, yet cook for ourselves at night. Food shopping was a breeze in Impruneta and there were several good restaurants less than 5 km away. Having breakfast prepared by Grace and almer started each day with ease and with Domitilla next door we had everything we needed for a perfect family vacation. Domitilla even donated toys for the kids. We have been to Italy many times and this vacation worked for everyone! -

We booked La Querce for a base for family and friends for our daughters wedding in Florence. From the day of booking Domitilla (the owner) was wonderful. She helped us with every detail from Flowers to taxis, she is so friendly and helpful. When we arrived at the villa 2hrs early Grace & Aylmer(our housekeepers) welcomed us so graciously & Domitilla came & showed us round her Grandparents lovely home. Grace & Aylmer cooked lovely meals for us with wonderful efficency but were happy for us to take over & cook our own meals on occasions & kept the house beautiful.
The Villa is more magnificent inside than the website shows, each room beautifully furnished with lots of place to sit and enjoy the glorious views over the Tuscan countryside to Florence. The pool is set in the olive groves and is a good place to relax after a days sightseeing, plenty of loungers and chairs around the grounds.
La Querce is ideally situated to visit Florence & Sienna and about one & a half hours drive from Pisa airport. There are plenty of local shops & restuarants in Impruneta and a bus service into Florence.
We had a wonderful week at La Querce and a magical wedding in Florence, Grace & Aylmer cooked us a superb wedding feast set out beautifully in the main hall & Domitilla obtained the best ever cake. Can't say a bad thing about La Querce, Domitilla or Grace & Aylmer, it was all magical. -

Our stay at Villa La Querce was perfect! The Villa is beautiful. The bedrooms and bathrooms are large and comfortable. There are many different common areas. The size and layout allow for privacy and plenty of space when you are traveling with a group.
The service provided by Grace and Almer was impeccable. They were always available but not at all intrusive.
We ate lunches out and most evening meals at the Villa. The menus are varied and delicious.
The location was great for seeing many different areas without spending the day in the car. The bus into Florence was easy and convenient. (Always on time!)
Everyone had different arrival and departure times. The owner, Domitilla, was very accommodating.
I looked at many villas when trying to find a place to stay near Florence. I feel so lucky that I randomly picked the best of the best!

We loved our stay at La Querce. The Villa is perfect for large groups or multiple
families vacationing together. We shared the Villa with 2 other families and the
layout of the bedrooms and common spaces afforded privacy as well as
beautiful areas to dine and hang out together. The Villa itself is gorgeous;
beautifully furnished and comfortable. The service was excellent: Grace and
Almer could not have been nicer or more willing to accommodate us. They're
great cooks too! Location is lovely and convenient base to explore the Tuscan
region. Bus into Florence stops right in front of Villa. We would definitely
return to La Querce if we plan another trip to Tuscany and will highly
recommend to our friends.

Left on 12/02/2009 for a stay in April 2009
We stayed at La Villa "La Querce" in April with some close friends for several days and it is truely a beautifully maintained italian villa that is perfectly located in the small town of Impruneta, only 15 minutes from downtown Florence, nestled in the Tuscany Hills (make sure to check out the Saturday Farmer's Market, for local goodies) on a wonderful property surrounded by Olive tress and vineyards. We arrived to the villa and the drive away up to the villa was great driving thru the olive trees, that produce the one of a kind La Querce Olive Oil, which is amazing. Once we arrived we were greeted by Grace, who was a wonderful host, she cooked us a typical Tuscan welcome dinner which was perfect and delicious complimented by a couple bottles of the red chianti "La Querce" wine made at the villa, which was by far the best wine we tasted in the Chianti region, and we visited several wineries in the region. Although it was not hot enough during our stay to use the swimming pool,I can only imagine how great a place La Querce is during the summer months. I would highly recommend staying and experiencing this wonderful place if you are planning a trip to Florence and it due to it locations makes traveling to neighboring Pisa, Siena and world famous San Gimignano very easy.

What a way to experience central Italy. Private chefs, fabulous wines, made on site. Beautiful views, close to everything but still quiet and remote. Whether in a small group or a large one, this villa works very well. Oh and the art work as well. Consider yourself lucky if you ever get to stay here!

Left on 09/10/2009 for a stay in August 2009
My family and I visited Le Querce the end of August 2009. It was a little difficult to find, as the house is numbered 30 but the address is 41 (which I assume is the farm across the street). Once we got there, it was heaven! We had 13 people, which is almost the max, but there was plently of room for everyone.
Almer and Grace were wonderful! They are amazing hosts and chefs, all the food that was prepared was fabulous, and they catered to all dietary requirements.
The house is in a great location, the bus stop to Florence is very close to the house, but doesn't run as frequently as I would have preferred. Impruneta is a quaint village close by, but most of the restuarants and shops were closed while we were there for holiday. Lo Ziro (I think that is how it was spelt) was wonderful for lunch, inexpensive and a high quality.
The wine a Le Querce was wonderful! We did a tour with the manager of the cellars and a tasting of their wines. Everything was fabulous, and is dangerously available on a shelf in the library should you run out of wine yourself (similar to an honor bar system).
Overall we really enjoyed our stay. The villa is everything it seems to be in photos and more. I hope to one day be able to return! -

Seattlegorgeous historic villa in the hills of Tuscany
Left on 09/10/2009 for a stay in June 2004
Our stay in the villa near Impruneta was one of the most magical
experiences of our lives. Not only is this historic villa managed by an old
Florentine family with ties going back hundreds of years in Chianti, but the
proximity to Florence is unbeatable. Tucked into the olive groves outside
the village of Impruneta, it is a short 20 minute bus ride to the center of
Florence. The villa itself is completely renovated and updated with beautiful
fabrics, modern bathrooms and 5 star quality while retaining it's historic
charm. In the cellar is a working winery "La Querce" that produces classic
tuscan wines and olive oil from the olive trees on the property. Alongside
the villa is a private swimming pool. For dining there is a wonderful couple
that provides all meals if requested, and we were able to eat al fresco in the
front patio on hot summer nights. In nearby Impruneta there are markets if
one is interested in doing their own cooking, as well as a piazza with
delicious gelato and espresso and italian delicacies. Manager Domitilla
Marchi lives in a nearby villa and is available for any requests a guest might
have, and is fluent in english. Staying at this villa will offer a true glimpse
of the real Tuscany we all dream about.
