Additional Location Information
Villa Cafaggiolo is an ancient stone built farmhouse situated at the top of a panoramic Chianti hill and surrounded by open farm-land cultivated with olive groves and vineyards. It is a large free-standing country estate, constructed in the late 1700s; the property has a charming country feel to it, while providing at the same time many modern features.
The Villa has been restored by the architect-owner, using traditional materials (there are terracotta floors, stone walls and beamed ceilings throughout), and it has been furnished using top quality fixtures and fittings that provide both comfort and style. So the Villa has a charming country feel to it, while providing at the same time many modern features.
The grounds surrounding the villa are made up of 2.5 acres of land completely fenced, terraced, and planted with a variety of mature trees, hedges, and flowers.
There is also a lovely rose garden on the property, with almost 100 different kind of roses.
In the main garden there is a swimming pool with a spacious deck surrounded by flower beds.
The villa is very suitable for a relaxing holiday with the kids or a romantic getaway, a honeymoon or for a historic and cultural expedition.
This spacious farmhouse is perfect for family groups too, for wedding cerimonies, anniversaries and events.
The apartments are available for short and long term rental.
All the apartments are fully equipped with: Independent heating, stove, oven, fridge, washing machine, television, coffeemaker, toaster, dishes and pots, ironing board, barbeque.
The medieval town of Pontassieve, less than 2 miles away from Villa Cafaggiolo, has all the modern amenities: shops, banks, excellent restaurants and the railway station with frequent trains into the centre of Florence.
In Pontassieve there is a regular train service for the center of Florence, which takes less than 1/2 hour and is excellent for those who do not wish to take the car to go into the city.
We (the Owners), live on the same estate but in a separate Villa. We will be there to meet you when you arrive and, after that, we can give you as much or as little assistance as you would like as you enjoy your holiday. We’ll provide a warm, welcoming and relaxing atmosphere.

Noosa, Queensland, AustraliaWonderful family holiday!
Left on 10/17/2012 for a stay in April 2011
Immediately after leaving I had wanted to share my review by way of thanks to the Pucci family for helping to create such a wonderful family holiday. I feel terrible that it has taken me so long to to write this review.
My husband and I stayed at Villa Cafaggiolo when our daughters were 5 months and 2 years old. It was very important to us to find a family friendly villa, offering a safe environment for our eldest daughter to play, and also offering easy access to the sights around Florence, Chianti and the rest of Tuscany.
We had some truly memorable moments during our stay at the Villa - thanks to the friendly and attentive Pucci family. Everything from helping me arrange a private chef at the villa to celebrate my husband's birthday, through to arranging a babysitter one night so we could enjoy an evening meal out together without the children.
The Pucci family also keep horses on the property, which was certainly a highlight for my eldest daughter.
We stayed in apartment Giotto, which offered 3 bedrooms upstairs and living downstairs. The fenced yard was perfect - allowing my daughter to play safely where we could see her in clear view.
As well as offering a beautiful property, the Pucci family welcomed us like we were family. No request was too big, and any little issue we had they resolved immediately.
I would highly recommend this property to someone looking for a family friendly, authentic experience, with the convenience of being close to towns and countryside.
Such wonderful family memories! -

London, United Kingdomfriendly owners, but tired and shabby villa and surrounds
Left on 09/04/2012 for a stay in August 2012
the villa itself does have some charm, but the bathrooms are truely terrible (the main bathroom has no external window, smells of mothballs, has dreadful lighting, is very dated and is a mosquito breeding pit, and the 'en-suite' bathroom has a shonky wire construction with a shower curtain that allows water to pour out of it - very bad indeed). The pool area sadly falls somewhat short of the photo on the website, and is constructed of rubber rather than tiles (ie is a cheap 'para pool') and is surrounded by an aging wooden construction - so in all a less than inviting pool area - although the mosquitos love it.

Left on 10/01/2011 for a stay in March 2011

Left on 06/22/2011 for a stay in June 2011
"Beautiful surroundings and very friendly hospitality. The villa was very clean and well presented. Quiet, private, close to village that has great supermarket, station, etc (but you cant really walk to and from the village or station to Florence so perhaps hire a car). Tuscan home cooked meal is a fantastic experience. Highly recommend staying here if you are after an out-of-city tuscan stay with options to travel to nearby cities and attractions."

QuebecWhat a wonderfull place!
Left on 06/18/2011 for a stay in June 2011
We stayed at Villa Cafaggiolo from June 04 to June 11,2011. Paola greeted us on our arrival and gave us a quick tour of the villa, and right from the start we felt we were welcomed at Villa Cafaggiolo. The appartment we rented was the Giotto and it was very comfortable for our group of 5 ( 2 couples and a friend). We cooked most of our meals there where the kitchen is well equipped and we even had a couple of meals prepared on the outside BBQ. There is a big foodstore in Pontassieve with a little shopping mall and we went there every evening to find food treasures to discover and cook at home, The Tuscan wines!!! The little garden adjacent to our appartment was our private paradise for the week and we often were visited by the 2 cats of the owner ( We name one of the cat Garfield because of its good nature and sllooowww walk...) These cats obviously enjoy life as we did during our stay at the Villa. There is a nice swimming pool but we did not use it much because it was raining most of our evenings...but it did not bother us much since we could sit outside at the table protected by the balcony. The Villa is about 20 minutes by car from Florence...and very conveniently located in the Tuscan Hills. We were able to make a few easy day-trips to Sienna, Pisa, Greve (Chianti wines road), San Gimignano (Mediaval town). We even push our luck to go to the Cinque Terre for a day ( 2 hours drive- but I would recommend more time spent there-spectacular views of the sea) and to Venice ( 3 1/2 hours drive). We all agree that we could not have find a better place to spend a very relaxing vacation...and we recommend the Villa for sure! Many thanks to the Pucci family for their warm welcome!

PhilippinesWonderful Post Wedding Celebration Week at Villa Caggiolo
Left on 05/13/2011 for a stay in April 2011
My husband and i just had a post wedding celebration with some friends and family at Villa Cafaggiolo this april 2011. I had begun planning and communicating with the owner Niccolo Pucci over a year ago, and everything fell wonderfully into place :) We rented all 3 apartments for a week, and scheduled one special dinner which was basically our reception. Niccolo and his mother Paula took great care of us during our stay in their beautiful property.
Each apartment had its own complete kitchen, living area, and lovely rooms where we all felt at home :) We all loved the location - far enough from the noisy/busy city to relax, but still just a 30-45 minute scenic hike to the station for a 30minute train ride to Florence's city center. The supermarket in the town proper was close and huge enough for all our needs and we all enjoyed cooking breakfast and dinner together (take note though, no room service here, just family team work in cleaning up!). Some friends rented cars, and there is ample parking space. Since we had some senior citizens with us who couldnt do the hike, we would hire a charming (and efficient :) ) family run taxi service referred by the Puccis for transfers.
Our celebration dinner prepared by their chef was fabulously delicious! It was the best italian meal i had in our entire trip, i just wish i could have eaten more than my stomach would allow :) The millefoglie wedding cake was absolutely heavenly :) I would definitely order it again even if there was no wedding event!
I had an absolutely amazing time in Tuscany thanks to the Puccis and their wonderful villa :) There is still so much to do and i am certain that my husband and i (and for sure our friends and family who were with us) will definitely be going back again for another (or more!) visit in the future.

Memphis, TennesseeI could live here!
Left on 10/20/2010 for a stay in October 2010
We were a party of 4 adults from Memphis, TN that shared the Michaelangelo apt for 5 nights and loved it. It was clean, comfortable and charmingly decorated with antiques and needlepoint art sewn by our lovely hostess, Paola. We had a rental car with a GPS system (an absolute must) and found the villa's location to be very well situated for exploring the Tuscan region. It's an easy drive into Pontessieve for food, wine, the train station and the autostrada. Paola was very gracious and helpful with recommendations for restaurants both locally and in Florence. In fact, we had the best pasta, seafood and ice cream of our entire 2 weeks in Italy at her recommendations. Be sure to ask for advice. My only regret is that we did not have more time.

CaliforniaWonderful week at Villa Cafagiolo
Left on 06/09/2010 for a stay in October 2009
This rennovated villa is in a lovely setting and tended by a wonderful family. Niccolo and Paola Pucci are great hosts who make you feel like family. The location is close enough to drive to Florence or take the train( which we did). We drove around Tuscany as well as being"chauffered" through some very special Tuscan areas that we probably would never have found on our own, unless we had gotten lost and wasted a day or more. Niccolo is very knowledgable and loves Tuscany and shares it well. Paola his mom is delightful lady. Very attentive, no question is too small. She loves to practice her English. Sergio, her husband is the man in the background who makes a lot of things happen, but is the "silent type"
They provided us a great week!

Weatherby Lake, MissouriPucci property is in a great location.
Left on 02/14/2010 for a stay in January 2006
My husband and I stayed with the Puccis for 3 wonderful months. We stayed from Jan thru March. The Pucci family were wonderful, in fact if I had my wish I would be there right now. Need a car, close to Pontisseve which had a wonderful grocery store, train and bus stations and several great restaurants. The family was helpful with suggestions as to where to visit, buy local wine and olive oil. The property is located in the country across from a vinyard and close to a olive grove The grounds were spotless as well as the apartments. I loved Paula, Sergio and Niccolo and miss them as they were our family in Italy. Renting in Italy during the winter was very expensive as heat was extra. The old houses are not insulated and very cold but we were warned before we decided to rent. I would love to visit again during Sept and October. Oh I forgot the time we rented was perfect because there were no lines and it was easy to get into all the museums and churches, but in middle of March the tourist season begins and be prepared to long lines everywhere. I love Italy. tanya

Left on 02/11/2010 for a stay in June 2009
Do you want to wake up in heaven on earth? You can simply by vacationing at Villa Cafaggiolo. Set in the hills outside Florence, the landscaping of hydrangeas and geraniums around an inviting pool complement the charming farmhouse accommodations. The owners are consummate hosts and were always helpful when asked. I would stay here again without hesitation and recommend it fully to anyone looking for a home base in Tuscany near Florence.

Katy, TX USAA dream stay in Italy
Left on 02/11/2010 for a stay in July 2007
Niccolo and his mom were two of the warmest, most hospitable hosts we've ever met. The apartment we stayed in was rustic and comfortable, the yard was beautiful as were the surrounding fields of artichokes, grapes, etc. The weather was a bit cool, so we didn't swim, but we enjoyed lounging by the pool in the yard. The nearby town was easy to get to and the grocery store had everything we needed. Florence and nearby vineyards were great day trips and if we wanted to take a train to other cities, we could easily access them from the Florence station. The botega on the main road into town was one of our favorite places to have coffee each day. I don't like to return to places, since there are so many places in the world to experience, but Villa Cafaggiolo is a place I would return to and I make it a point to tell my friends and family all about it.

You can't go wrong renting from the Pucci family at Cafaggiolo. The accomodations are comfortable, the villa is located near the train to Florence in the town of Pontassieve, and it is easy to drive anywhere in Chianti from the Villa. You can also take a train to Arezzo and many other spots. The Puccis are delightful, full of advice and really warm hosts. They treat all their guests as though they are family. It is necessary to have a car in order to stay there.

Left on 02/03/2010 for a stay in March 2009
Villa Cafaggiolo is GREAT!!!
The Puccis should be very proud of their apartments and service they provide.
We spent 2 weeks in the Villa and we can honestly say that this is a special place: we truly felt a part of this wonderful Florentine family.
Niccolò was always happy to provide town maps and to show us the best itineraries.
The apartments are arranged to protect each other cosiness.
We appreciated having our own private entrance, own garden for meals.
It felt like home in a new country.
Our apartment was very spacious and comfortable; the rooms were clean and tastefully furnished, with a fully equipped.
All the appliances in the apartment were quite new and functioned perfectly and there were no electrical problems which one often encounters in ages-old Italian villas and apartments.
The grounds surrounding the apartments are as lovely and well kept as the apartments are.
I have recommended the property to several friends, who have all been impressed.
Practically all his business now is return guests or recommendations.

Phoenix, AZIf only I were there now!
Left on 02/01/2010 for a stay in October 2005
Villa Cafaggiolo was the find of a lifetime! The location is fabulous because it is so close to everything. Only a 25 minute train ride to Florence where you can eat, shop and sightsee to your heart's content, wandering the streets until the last train leaves at 11pm. No worries about driving through the city. If you want to shop, there are more outlets than you have money. Sights to see, oh my, and only a short ride away. Want to see Venice? Park your car in town (in the right place of course), get on the train and away you go. The same for Rome, Assisi, Bologna, and on and on. The great news is that you only have to go into town to have a fabulous dinner. There is The Pyramids, Le Prigione, and Girrarosta, all to die for. And don't forget the little pizza place at the end of the bridge!
The rooms are spacious and clean and you won't find better hosts than Nicco, Sergio and Paola. Their customer service is the best. The next trip to Italy (soon, I hope) will definitely be based at Villa Cafaggiolo. You won't regret your choice.
