Villa Bottai is a splendid 13th Century Villa just 10 minutes from the historical centre of Florence. Recently we have restored the ground floor into a 3 bedroom apartment
which is available throughout the year.
The Villa is ideally situated; it has the feel of the countryside sitting amidst its own olive grove and fruit orchard on 6 hectars of land only minutes away from the historical centre of Florence. The terraced gardens have magnificent views of the Florentine Hills

My fiance and I traveled to Florence with his parents, aunt and her son in celebration of his parents 30th wedding anniversary. This property couldn't have been better suited for us!
Firstly, the view from the location is surreal. It's the kind of place that could really be from a dream. The property itself is like being in a garden and is dotted with lemon trees and rose bushes.
The interior of the villa is charming, spacious, and well maintained and provides all the comforts of home. The pool on the property is a nice bonus although it was too cool for us to enjoy during our stay.
Not only would I recommend this villa to others, I would consider staying there again myself!
Notes to other potential travelers:
-there is a quaint local restaurant right at the foot of the villa's driveway (Noema). They serve delicious food and the staff is warm and friendly (especially Matilda!).
-while the view is magnificent, it must be noted the view wouldn't be possible without the villa being located at the top of a hill. We were unaware of this and took public transport to the bottom of the hill upon arrival and had to carry our heavy luggage up the hill. I'd recommend a taxi for sure! -

The apartment is very spacious, and it feels very familiar. The distributions of bathrooms is a bit awkward, but there is plenty of showers and sinks. The kitchen is on the small side.

We spent a marvelous 10-day Christmas and New Year's holiday at Villa Bottai in late 2011. The property was well-maintained and very similar to the photos on this website. We especially appreciated the ample living and dining rooms, high ceilings, and well-equipped kitchen (with a very good range of appliances and ample tableware). The neighborhood of Galluzzo was lovely, and everything available within about half a kilometer or so. Very Italian and very warm and authentic. Frequently running buses brought us to Florence within 15 minutes. Our group included 7 people aged 20-30, and they had a fabulous time. The only item to note is that the bathrooms are not attached to the bedrooms -- in fact, there are two half bathrooms and two with showers; all are shared. Sr. Fulvio, the custodian, was very friendly and responsive, and the owner, Liliana, good to deal with. Would recommend to other families. Noema, the restaurant next door (actually in the basement), is a gem! The property would be gorgeous in the summer!
