Florida’s Central Atlantic Coast is known for Orlando and Disney’s theme parks, but the Atlantic Coast offers much more than amusement parks. Spanning several counties, this sunny area is home to many attractions and things to do and discover.
The “Space Coast,” located in Brevard County, is home to the Kennedy Space Center. Cape Canaveral is a must-visit for those interested in NASA’s space program. For lovers of the great outdoors, the Lake County, home to Lake Woodruff National Wildlife Refuge, Ocala National Forest and Lake Louisa State Park merits a visit.
Of course, as with the rest of the state, the beaches in Florida’s Central Atlantic Coast are a major draw. Cocoa Beach, often cited as one of the state’s best beaches, is located in Brevard County, as is Melbourne Beach, a surfing mecca. Ormond Beach, located near the Daytona Beach area, is home to beachfront racing and great fishing. New Smyrna Beach, a city in Volusia County, is home to over 13 miles of white-sand beaches, consistently voted some of the best in the country year after year.
Of course, Orange County is one of the biggest draws to this area, with easy access to Orlando’s many attractions: Disney World, Epcot Center, Discovery Cove, Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure and SeaWorld are just some of the many attractions located in this theme-park-heavy area. Kids and adults alike will find plenty of things to do and see in Florida’s Central Atlantic Coast!
