Magnificent house - a work of great craftsmanship - could well b

Left on 04/13/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We stayed for a week here and used the house as a base to explore and go for walks and climbs around the area and further afield. It's a great place to stay, and the house is very well equipped. It certainly had all we needed and more. (The beautiful organ needs a good organist for example, not amateurs like us). We even saw the Northern Lights on our first night, and the area is a good place to do this, as there is little light pollution, and there is a balcony from which to view the sky.

We even had some eggs from the hens so felt very much at home. The beds were the most comfortable we've ever slept in. The equipment provided included spices, condiments and dried foods as well as all the utensils you could need. The local supermarket is quite good, but there is a bigger one about 25 miles away. There are a couple of restaurants locally but we mainly cooked our own food, as two of the party did not eat fish. (Don't ask me why they chose to go to Iceland!) They weren't happy about eating puffin steaks either. On the whole the quality of the fresh food in Iceland was higher than England, and the quality of the frozen food much higher.

The owner, Magnus, is always available to help, but he isn't in your face (unless you want him to be). Great bloke - reserved like all Icelanders, but we are British, so we are too.

An important thing I would say is that the local off-licence is only open for one hour per day, Mondays to Fridays outside the summer, so be prepared if you like a drink. We were warned about high prices of alcohol in Iceland, but although prices of spirits are very high, wine is about one third higher, and beer is not much more expensive than England. Stock up at the duty free shop at Keflavik airport before you arrive.

Brilliant place to stay, even in March. (It was actually about 5 degrees Centigrade warmer than England throughout our stay.)

Beautiful villa in the Golden Circle

Left on 12/09/2012 for a stay in November 2012

We stayed there for two weeks and we only can say wow! what a nice place to spend your holiday. The house looks even better than the pictures. It is spacy, with a nice tower for watching the northern lights (which we didn't see due to the weather and low aurora forecasts) and watching the sun come up and light up the mountains. The house is well equiped and has a nice fireplace, free Wifi and Sky satellite TV. The house is situated in a very quiet surrounding and 360 degrees view on the mountains, though a supermarket is just a few minutes drive from the house. We walked to the supermarket in 10-15 minutes.
Maggnus, the owner, picked us up and brought us back from and to the airport and took care of everything. He gave us a welcome feeling. He even arranged a childchair and fresh eggs, while the chickens seemed to be on holiday :-) . We rented a car direct from the owner, which is a lot cheaper then from a rentalcompany. He also recommended an off-road tour with a friend of his, which was wonderfull and surely recommendable. The 'free' hotpool was great, you have to go there and enjoy! Another similar house is built, which will hopefully be ready next summer and will even have a hottub in it. Just go there and see for yourselve!

Here is the Real Icelandic Summer Vacation!

Left on 11/08/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We spent a week at Viking Villa and felt we wanted to stay forever. The house is more beautiful than the pictures show. Although everything is first class and of the highest quality, Viking Villa is very comfortable and welcoming. I loved cooking in the kitchen. The home is immaculate, as is everything in Iceland. The surrounding countryside is magnificent. You will feel you are staying in a national park. We feasted on fresh eggs, courtesy of the flock of beautiful, well behaved chickens on the premises. The mushrooms from the local mushroom farm are especially tasty. Maggnus and Inga stocked the kitchen with teas, herbs and spices. In addition to taking many local walks and picking up some great wines at the Vínbúð, this is an ideal place to visit Gullfoss, Strokkur, and Þingvellir. In early September you can sit on the porch and gaze at the starry sky, waiting for the Northern Lights. You can swim in the lake at the top of the local mountain or enjoy a dip in the thermal bath in town. You will have access to the outside world via International TV and WiFi. The Miele washer/drier set is brand new. Flúðir has some good restaurants and a small supermarket. More supplies can be picked up in Selfoss. We went riding at a local stable but there are several in the area. Maggnus and Inga speak perfect English and gave us a great tour of the town when we arrived. Next time we will try to stay longer!

      Beautiful home, great hosts

Left on 09/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Very comfortable three bedroom home fully stocked with everything needed and more. The house was immaculate, beautifully furnished with a lot of extras. Having rented a lot of homes, we can truly appreciate having those little items available and not having to run out for a basic condiment or cleaning product upon arrival. Magnus and Inga made their home our home and were very helpful throughout. The chickens cooperated with fresh eggs every day. The location was great, near Geyser and Guilfoss, very peaceful and a good space for a family or group of friends.

We extraordinarily enjoyed our stay at Viking Villa in Fludir! The house is just beautiful, the equipment and facilities are excellent, the surrounding landscape marvelous. Our three teenagers think our stay there was "just cool".
Thanks very much to our hosts Inga and Maggnus for their outstanding hospitality. Hope to be able to stay at Viking Villa again some time.

Thank you Inga & Maggnus - this is the perfect place to stay in Iceland!
The house is spacious, immaculately clean, with luxury furniture, and an extremely well appointed kitchen (induction cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and a dishwasher) with everything you need and loads more. Very comfy beds, large lounge with fireplace, private deck with bbq.
This is a haven of peace and rest with spectacular landscape all around, and the Golden Circle (Geysir area, Thingvellir, Gullfoss waterfall etc.) close by.
Very helpful hosts, we felt very welcome and will be back!

We all had a fantastic time staying in Iceland despite the weather. Our host was fantastic, very helpful and provided a superb property in a beautiful location. The property takes approx 90min from the airport but its worth the drive.
If you are looking for peace and tranquility then this is the place and we would recommend it particularly if you enjoy walking or just getting away from it all

      Just wonderful

Left on 05/08/2010 for a stay in April 2010

I stayed here for a long weekend in April with family and some friends. I had seen the photos but when I got there it was even better then I thought it would be, the photos done do it justice.

The house itself is very tastefully decorated with all the mod cons you could ever wish for. And they are all top of the range, from the cooker to the shower. And I want one of of those showers, you will have to try it to know what I am talking about. Out of this world. The beds were so very comfortable and the duvets were wonderful. That and the fresh air made for the best sleep I have had in a very long time. This place must be brand new, everything was in tip top order and looks just fantastic.

Sitting outside on the deck, watching the horses run around and that stunning landscape is an experience. I hardly wanted to move to go sight seeing. I was way too comfortable. But indeed I did move and saw the sights around this area and there is a lot to see. And this house was the perfect base to go see them from.

There is a market just down the street from the house where you can buy all the food stuff you need, very handy. The people of the town were very nice and friendly, I felt right at home.

When we arrived, the owners of the house greeted us and gave us all the info we needed, a very nice touch indeed. Thank you for that, very much appriciated.

All in all, I cannot recommend this villa highly enough, one of the highlights of my trip and I know no one will be let down in booking this location.
