My in-laws rented out Coolin' Out during the last weekend in October, 2011, so we had a bunch of us in the house (both adults and small children). This was our first time visiting Folly Beach, and the setup was incredible.
The house itself was built in the 1980s (in fact many of the houses on the island are a few decades old), so don't expect absolute perfection. Nevertheless, it was a clean place that contained everything the family needed for living, sleeping, eating meals, and prepping for the beach.
Of course, with Folly Beach, we didn't spend a whole lot of time inside the house!
If you're looking for a reasonably-priced rental that will buy you some of the best sunrise and dolphin views on the beach, definitely consider Coolin' Out. -

We were extremely surprised at how beautiful the property was. Our goal as guests was to respect the beauty of the home and the privilege of sharing it. We only hope that others who use this home will realize the bargain and experience the relaxation that all seven of us enjoyed. We have rented other properties in the past that were not up to the standard of this one. Thank the family for us!

The house was perfect for our family of 5. We ate every meal on the covered porch picnic table. Thank you for tacking on the vinyl cover. A clothes line in the below house parking area would keep the beach towels off the deck rails.
The outdoor shower is always a delight and saves the house a lot of wear. But, The septic overflowed after each inside shower. it also overflowed if the dishwasher was run. It should be pumped out more regularly.
We definitely would consider renting this house again. -

This is a very nice home with great views of the ocean and a wonderful deck. The outdoor shower was perfect for cooling off when coming off the beach. The bedrooms were comfortable and nicely decorated. The wireless internet functioned flawlessly. I would suggest a few additions however.
1. A grill for cooking outdoors
2. A better equipped kitchen for cooking. There was only a small saute pan, a small spatula, etc.
3. We encountered ants in the house and on the kitchen counters.
4. We were given a small key which I believe was for the master lock on the storage bin. The key fit but the lock did not open.
5. It would be nice to have a larger selection of channels on the cable system.
6. We had a problem with the a.c. unit, but it was fixed promptly.

We took my parents (ages 73 and 71) to FB and stayed at Coolin' Out. The house was pricey, but we had a great time. My father (73) is not the "traveler" of the family and enjoyed sitting at the beach house while the rest of us toured Charleston and the FB area. The beach was clean and beautiful. The kids (ages 5 & 7) had a BLAST. If you buy groceries...go INLAND...It is too expensive to use the Piggly Wiggly nearby. Otherwise, bring your wallet and have a great time.
