Description from the manager

This spectacular Folly Beach home has room for the whole family. The house is a second row home, across the street from the beach. Directly across the street from the house is a footpath with a new boardwalk onto the beach. The house features an elevator for easy access to both floors. An inverted floor plan with the kitchen and living areas on the top floor captures a fantastic view of the Atlantic Ocean. A large screened porch off the top floor and an open porch off the bottom floor are ideal for watching the surf and enjoying the soft ocean breezes. Page 29

Loved Folly, Avocet was a little slack

Left on 08/03/2009 for a stay in June 2009

We loved the beach property itself and the owner of the premises was super nice. However, after the freezer in the home quit working on the 2nd morning of our stay (and perhaps never was functioning anyway since we had only begun to use it that morning), we called the rental agency to report the problem, just before 9a.m. and even left a message on their emergency line. At approximately 6:10 pm that evening, the repairman showed up, after numercus calls to Avocet. Luckily, the meat we had placed in the freezer was going to be consumed that evening so that was of no concern, but, all of our ice cream melted. It was a little disheartening that it took all day to resolve the issue. What if this had been the refrigerator? We had small children staying in the house, so the idea of spoiled food, or loosing all of our groceries could have been more of a financial burden. The owner came with a replacement freezer the next day and even he admitted he was disappointed with Avocet's delay in resolving the issue.
Would I recommend this property? Oh yes, but solely based on the owner coming through with the replacement refrigerator/ freezer the day after the trouble. THAT GUY knows customer service. Avocet should take lessons from him.

      First time at Folly Beach..

Left on 07/26/2009 for a stay in June 2009

Check-in was efficient. Compressed checkout time, 10 am checkout, but couldn't turn keys in until 9 am, due to office hours.
Was pleased with the house, but did list some items requiring correction; (refrig. isssues and interior/exterior lighting plus some minor items, rocking chairs on porch need repair.)
Cleanliness was mostly satisfactory, the kitchen area, including dining table were not the best.
Location and access to beach good. Screened porch and rocking chairs were a nice combination. Bedrooms and baths were great.

      Wonderful home for family escape

Left on 06/04/2009 for a stay in January 2009

This is a lovely home and location with a wonderful porch for sitting and watching time go by.

Kitchen and decor wonderful only a few issues and the main one for me is that the lovely master bathroom jacuzzi bathtub did not work. There are a few general maintenance issues.

Would have been nice to be able to use the elevator give most bedrooms on the third floor.

Other than that, yes I would stay there again as it was perfectly located and very pleasant and relaxing.

      Wonderful Family Vacation

Left on 05/29/2009 for a stay in March 2008

My husband, 2 of our daughters and their husbands, and our 18-mo old grandson stayed in the house in early March, 2008. We chose that week because it was spring break for one of our daughters who teaches. The weather was great and we were able to go on the beach every day, take long walks, ate at the restaurant on the pier and took walks out there, too.
This house is so beautiful, immaculate and conducive to family gatherings - we played board games in the living room in the evenings and/or sat on the great porch with 8 rocking chairs! That was my husband's favorite part of the vacation since he is not an avid beach person.
The location is handy to everything, and a short drive from the Charleston historic district.
I am hoping that some day we will all be able to schedule another vacation together. Also, I have suggested it to my old school friends for a women's mini-reunion.
