In Forcalquier, our hometown in Provence, we have a beautifully restored apartment for holiday rental. It is located in one of the nicest streets in the old town; rue Saint Mary – a charming, cobblestoned street, and leading up to a hilltop park.
One of the unique aspects of the location is the fact that rue Saint-Mary is a “cul-de-sac” and extremely quiet with no traffic noise. However, the main square with its lovely cafes and restaurants is just around the corner. It is certainly convenient to be able to wander down in the evening, have a lovely meal with a bottle of wine and not have to worry about who is driving!

The apartment is located in a 14th C manor house in the historic centre of beautiful Forcalquier. Its position is unique as it is only 5 minutes from the heart of this bustling market town but is extremely peaceful and quite because it is in traffic free street below the citadel hilltop park. Enjoy long lazy lunches on your own private terrace and in the evening stroll down to the town to soak up the Provencal atmosphere. Forcalquier is ideally located in Provence - just around the corner from the famous Luberon Valley and the Verdon Gorge, 1.5 hours from the Mediterranean and the French Alps and about1 hour away from Aix-en-Provence and Avignon. Forcalquier can be reached by public transport and those wishing to arrive by car there is plenty of free parking close to the apartment.

We recently stayed in Forcalquier for 11 nights at the premises of Graeme and Gabriela Clarke and can't speak highly enough of our time there. Graeme met us in the village and helped us with car parking and getting our luggage to the lovely apartment we had rented from him.
Although we had some plans of places we wished to visit, Graeme gave us invaluable advice about places we either did not know about or hadn't planned to see. It was great to have him living nearby so any problem which arose (and as it turned out, there weren't any) could be resolved quickly.
Thank you Graeme for helping to make our holiday not only in Forcalquier but also in other areas of Provence such a success. -

Fabulous location, fabulous accommodation, and fabulous hosts. We stayed at this wonderful apartment for a week with our nine-month-old son. From the moment we arrived, we could not believe our luck. Our apartment was perfect for our family. Spacious, beautiful, light-filled, quiet and comfortable. The courtyard was lovely, and the town itself gorgeous.
Graeme was kind, friendly and welcoming. He helped us plan a wonderful few days in the area, and could not have been more hospitable.
We’ve done a lot of travelling and this is one of the true gems we’ve been lucky enough to discover. We’ve been recommending this wonderful place to all of our friends and family and hope to be back ourselves. The perfect Provence experience. -

Äusserst gut gelegenes apartment in der altstadt von Forcalquier. Schöner und schattiger Innenhof, grosses apartment mit viel Platz. Wenige Minuten bis zur Kirche/Dorfplatz mit Restaurants, Läden und Café's. Gabriela hat uns an der Kirche abgeholt und zum Parkplatz/Apt. geführt sowie Tipp's und Möglichkeiten in und um Forcalquier erklärt. Ein netter Begrüssungs-Apero mit selbst gemachter Pizza gab's ebenfalls. (Spricht deutsch)
Wir hatten wunderschöne Tage in diesem Städtchen und alles in Reichweite was man für einen romantischen Kurzurlaub braucht. -

A well kept up to date apartment on a cobble stone street, within a short walk to the town.
Town has great restaurants, a post office, banks etc. A very central location to a wonderful countryside and other small towns. -

My husband and I had the privledge of staying in this gorgeous villa. I knew I wanted to spend a week in Provence, but hadn't a clue on where to stay. I began searching Trip advisor and came across 'A Place in Provence' and immediately fell in love with the pictures. We didn't even know where Forcalquier was, but thought we'd take a chance. Well all I can say is wow. When Graeme opened the gates to the courtyard, I knew I'd made the absolute best choice. If you're looking for a true regional experience of Provence, then this will be it. From the accomodations, Graeme's wonderfully understated gracious hospitality to the town itself, you will not be disappointed. He gave us several recommendations of the area sites, and he didn't steer us wrong. The apartment was not only beautiful, but very secluded and tranquil - no vehicle noises, I don't think Rick and I've slept better. If you're looking for a low key immersion in the regional flavour, then this is the place. Thank you Graeme for a wonderful week, we hope to come back some day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Graeme and Gabriela'a in Forcalquier. Their villa was perfect for the 3 of us. Spacious, quiet, well equipped, in the heart of the old town close. Graeme was a great host, offering information about places to visit, where to eat etc. We would happily have stayed longer than our 7 day stay.

"Habitués des locations par Homelydays ,nous tenons à apporter notre appréciation sur notre séjour car c'est la premiere fois qu'une location nous offre un tel agrément sur tous les plans : un accueil chaleureux , un logement spacieux ( 80m2 pour 3 personnes)renové avec goût et respect du lieu (maisons groupées du 14 eme siecle au pied de la citadelle de Forcalquier) , lumineux et bien chauffé. Une cuisine ouverte sur le séjour et, c'est à souligner ,parfaitement equipée pour faire réellement la cuisine ( le marché de Forcalquier est un des plus beaux de haute Provence ): généreuse paillasse, gaz, four electrique, service de table , et faciliter les tâches ( lave vaiselle/ lave linge / seche linge). Les proprétaires, férus de randonnée, nous ont mis à notre disposition toute la cartographie , les guides, et leurs conseils éclairés mais discrets pour profiter au mieux du pays de Forcalquier. Les meilleurs conditions et le meilleur accueil pour un merveilleux sejour. Victoria et Benoit J."

"El apartamento forma parte de una casa antigua dentro del casco histórico de un pueblo medieval muy bonito. Dentro de la casa hay varios apartamentos que comparten un patio lleno de plantas, tranquilo, en donde leer o descansar estirado en las tumbonas. Tanto el apartamento como el patio son preciosos; están decorados con mobiliario antiguo, y el apartamento, aunque está en un primer piso, tiene mucha luz, que aportan todas las ventanas con encantadoras persianas francesas. El menage de la cocina rebasa con creces lo necesario para pasar una semana, y todo el apartamento está muy limpio y no le falta ningún detalle. Nosotros estuvimos una pareja con una niña de dos años que durmió en una cuna en nuestra habitación, pero la casa dispone también de una pequeña habitación con sofá, que puede hacerse cama, y en donde hay tele y juegos. Un lugar encantador."

I have stayed at two of Graeme & Gabriela's apartments, one in Forcalquier and the other in aix en Provence. The first time in 2006 I spent a month in one of there apartments in Forcalquier and two weeks in there apartment in aix en Provence. Both are fantastic, always very clean, very quiet and peaceful. The location in Forcalquier is superb, it is only a few minutes to the centre of the town and the square. The apartments are nice and secure, I felt very safe staying here. The amenities they provide in the apartments are all you could ask for. If you like to cook, the kitchen is excellent and there is always good fresh produce to be found at the local market. The best of all about these apartments is the hosts, Graeme & Gabriela. They are fantastic, so courteous & helpful, inviting me into there own home for dinner and aperitifs. I fully recommend these apartments to anyone who wants to enjoy sometime in a beautiful Provence village

Logement vraiment très agréable, calme, bien situé, avec un équipement conforme à l'annonce. Gros coup de coeur pour la terrasse ombragée et très bien décorée. Une mention spéciale pour le propriétaire très accueillant et attentionné. Graeme est d'excellent conseil pour les activités et les visites alentours. Cette location est un petit bijoux d'authenticité !

We really enjoyed our stay in Forcalquier ! The apartment was cozy, clean and offered all the amenities that one would expect from. The owner and neighbour are wonderful people and were very helpful. We loved the location as there is a lot to do in the area. Well worth the money, would go there again without hesitation

Bel appartement, propre, grand et fort bien équipé pour y cuisiner. Salle de bain impeccable. Grand lit dans une chambre donnant sur la terrasse à laquelle on peut aussi accéder par la cuisine. Cette terrase est fort belle, typiquement provençale. Vous pourrez y prendre la sieste et vos repas en toute intimité. On peut stationner sans problème et gratuitement sur une rue avoisinante. L''appartement est situé sur une belle rue pavée de Forcalquier à quelque pas du restaurant aigo Blanco. Il faut découvrir cette région pour ses beaux paysages et la présence des montagnes. Graeme est accueillant et fort sympathique. Un petit bémol : l''accès internet est aléatoire (plus difficle d''accès en soirée). Mais cela ne nous empêchera pas d''y retourner.
