The beautiful and tranquil Forest of Bowland is located in an unspoilt area of outstanding natural beauty, a hidden part of rural Lancashire in the Ribble Valley. There is an abundance of country lanes to provide walking and cycling opportunities together with a scattering of pretty villages and traditional village Inns, local shops and cafes to cater for your every need. Wi...thin a short drive are more shopping opportunities in Preston, Manchester and Liverpool together with the coastal resorts of Blackpool and Southport and easy access from the nearby M6 (10 miles) to the Yorkshire Dales and Southern Lakes.

For the more energetic the slopes of Pendle Hill provide an impressive base for dry skiing and horse riding is available at several equestrian centres throughout the area. Superb golf courses at nearby Clitheroe, Longridge and Whalley and for the water sport enthusiast there are local swimming and canoe clubs. There are well stocked trout lakes and rivers for the fisherman, both coarse and game anglers.

The walking and cycling enthusiast is well catered for with the 70 mile long “Ribble Way” following the course of the River Ribble from its source at Ribble Head to the estuary at Preston. There are Heritage trails including dramatic heather and forest walks on the edge of the Forest of Bowland and a cycle trail of 10 miles.

The apartments offer self contained accommodation of the highest standard and have the advantage of being able to be used for family groups, including private weddings of which the owners have a wedding license and can provide a marquee and catering facilities. There is a communal dining room and kitchen available and in addition a superb lounge with French windows leading to the decking on the banks of its own private “lake”. A more relaxing setting would be hard to find.

The 300 year old mill has been converted to provide a charismatic property that oozes charm and character and is located in a tree lined fold on the banks of the bubbling Chipping brook and has its own well stocked Lake with ample seating to enable you to enjoy the birdlife and the views to “Palick Pike” and “Wolf Fell”.

Wolfen Mill is located just 1 mile north of the picturesque village of Chipping which has won a number of best kept village competitions over the years. The village is known to be at least 1000 years old and is named in the Doomsday book as Chipping Den. The village now has a 17th century school and Alms houses, 15th century church, several traditional Inns and some lovely stone built cottages that date from its industrial past.

Courtyand Cottage is a one bedroom apartment, is individually furnished and designed and comprises:

* Kitchen with electric hob and oven, dishwasher, fridge and microwave.

* Double bedroom with King size bed.

  very disappointed with this holiday,we feel it was falsely advertised to us,after talking to the owners and other sites who listed it,we where left to feel like we were to blame for their mistakes.

  A perfect place , in a perfect place

  Totally enjoyed our stay at Wolfen Mill. Not everything was perfect . The Wi Fi didn't work in the cottage we were in . But what do you expect with walls three feet thick! Not a real inconvenience . The cost was most reasonable , we came from australia where similar accomodation is twice as much . The location perfect. Central to all the delights of The Trough Of Bowland. Quiet and comfy. We could pull the place to pieces if we had an unrealistic view of what is a great place to stay . But if you want peace, quiet and little bit of what is great about the county of lancashire the stay at Wolfen Mill .. I will stay again.

  Stunning, Beautiful & Peaceful

  We stayed in the Courtyard Cottage and loved every minute of it. The cottage was perfect and had everything you could need even down to having tealights to make the evening cosier...the decor was beautiful and the little extras such as a mint on the folded bathrobes and the lit fire on our arrival just showed how much the owners cared about our stay. The area was peaceful and idyllic and only wish we had booked for longer to see more of the surrounding area
