The beautiful and tranquil Forest of Bowland is located in an unspoilt area of outstanding natural beauty, a hidden part of rural Lancashire in the Ribble Valley. There is an abundance of country lanes to provide walking and cycling opportunities together with a scattering of pretty villages and traditional village Inns, local shops and cafes to cater for your every need. Within a s...hort drive are more shopping opportunities in Preston, Manchester and Liverpool together with the coastal resorts of Blackpool and Southport and easy access from the nearby M6 (10 miles) to the Yorkshire Dales and Southern Lakes.

For the more energetic the slopes of Pendle Hill provide an impressive base for dry skiing and horse riding is available at several equestrian centres throughout the area. Superb golf courses at nearby Clitheroe, Longridge and Whalley and for the water sport enthusiast there are local swimming and canoe clubs. There are well stocked trout lakes and rivers for the fisherman, both coarse and game anglers.

The walking and cycling enthusiast is well catered for with the 70 mile long “Ribble Way” following the course of the River Ribble from its source at Ribble Head to the estuary at Preston. There are Heritage trails including dramatic heather and forest walks on the edge of the Forest of Bowland and a cycle trail of 10 miles.

The 300 year old mill has been converted to provide a charismatic property that oozes charm and character and is located in a tree lined fold on the banks of the bubbling Chipping brook and has its own well stocked Lake with ample seating to enable you to enjoy the birdlife and the views to “Palick Pike” and “Wolf Fell”.

Wolfen Mill is located just 1 mile north of the picturesque village of Chipping which has won a number of best kept village competitions over the years. The village is known to be at least 1000 years old and is named in the Doomsday book as Chipping Den. The village now has a 17th century school and Alms houses, 15th century church, several traditional Inns and some lovely stone built cottages that date from its industrial past.

  Very comfortable appartment in a very nice location for walks and fresh air.
  The appartment is all on the first floor level. The Kitchen area is a bit tight (cooking for 5) but the appliances and equipment good.
  The beds were very comfortable and the showers good.
  There is a folder with lots of information about the local area - including a very good selection of walks laid out with map and instructions and laminated for your walk and re-use of others.
  Longridge Golf club was very friendly and offers cracking views to distract you from your drives, chips and puts!
